Busan Haeundae：Origins

Choi Chiwon was a well-known poet and writer. When the Korean Peninsula was unified during the Silla era, there were many interactions between the Korean Peninsula and China. Choi Chiwon was in China as a government officer, then returned to Silla in his later years, took over as an official, and was concerned about the chaos of the imperial court. Hence he decided to go to the Gaya Mountain in the middle of the Korean Peninsula, and accidentally passed Dongbaek Island, and saw the beautiful scenery of the coast, and felt it. He wrote "Haeundae" on a rock. Haeun is his name. The name of Haeundae was born here.

Haeundae Attractions：1. Haeundae Beach（해운대해수욕장）

If you just want to come to Haeundae for the sea, I recommend visiting when the sun is setting, or in autumn and winter, by the time which the crowds of people on the beach will have dispersed, and the sea breeze and promenade will be very comfortable. It is also very beautiful to go to Guangan Beach which is not far away.

Haeundae Attractions：2. Dongbaek Island Promenade（동백섬산책로）

At the far right of Haeundae Beach, the trail next to Chosun Hotel is the beginning of Dongbaek Island. Dongbaek Island is located on the side of Haeundae Beach. There are not too many people. Avoid the noon time and go there in the afternoon. You can see a lot of beautiful scenery around the island.

Walking along the trail, there are signs all the way, so you will not get lost, and some platforms are provided with benches to rest, and the mountains are also lined with trees, you do not need to be afraid of the direct sunlight in summer.

About half an hour away, you can see beautiful rocky shores and turquoise ocean along the Dongbaek Island Trail. The most famous one is the Dongbaek Island Mermaid Statue.

Many Korean Ajussis will be at the shore to fish. It looks quite leisurely, but it is also very dangerous. It is recommended that you do not go over the fence if you want to take pictures without accidents.

Haeundae Attractions：3. APEC Nurimaru House（누리마루APEC하우스）

Follow the coastal walk to the southernmost part of the island, and you will see the pavement will change into a paved road. This was the venue for the 13th APEC meeting in November 2005 : the APEC World Summit Building.

In addition, this is the centre point of the entire Dongbaek Island Trail, and you can take a break here.

You can choose to go back to Haeundae Beach by the original route, but you'll be walking the road already taken. Depending on your time options, I suggest walking along Dongbaek Island in the direction of The Bay 101 (near Subway Dongbaek Station). It will be smoother.

Haeundae Attractions：4. The Bay 101（더 베이 101）

Here ’s a little trick if you want to see this kind of scenery at night. In addition to the bridge in front of The Bay 101, the rear cycle path is toward Dongbaek Island. Go up, turn right, and go forward. There is a parking lot where you can see the river. There may not be a guardrail on the nearby waterfront. If you go at night, there is not much on-site lighting. Passengers who come here should pay attention to their own safety though.

Haeundae Attractions：5. Haeundae Yacht (요트탈래)

Leaving Haeundae Beach and heading for Guangan, there are many yachts here. More and more people wanna try yachts and cruise ships to go out to watch the night view. The sailing range is wider, and sometimes you will go around the Guangan Bridge. Very ideal trip.

It is recommended that you come in the evening and you can see the sunset and the night view at the same time (of course, it depends on the sunset time of Busan), but you can adjust your schedule for this, and then make an appointment around the sunset time.

Haeundae Attractions：6. Haeundae Movie Street（영화의 거리）

Haeundae Movie Street is not far from Dongbaek Island. If you want to enjoy the Movie Street in detail, it is recommended to come over during the day ; but it is also possible to come over at night. Here you can see the night view of the Guangan Bridge from another angle, which is very beautiful.

Centum City Station (센텀시티역), located in Haeundae District, is known as the world's largest department store: Shinsegae Department Store. Haeundae Attractions：10. Chungsapo Twin Lighthouse（청사포 쌍둥이 등대）
