Busan Cafe Recommendations

Busan also is home to many cafes, which are different from those in Seoul. They are generally larger in size, and each tend to have more unique characteristics that stand out.

We've prepared eight hot cafes for 2019, all of which are so beautiful that you'll never want to leave. Pick out your favorites, and spend an afternoon that you will never forget!

2019 Busan Cafe Recommendations : 1. Kkotbatae (꽃바테)

The first cafe to introduce is "Kkotbatae", a famous flower cafe located in the Nampodong area. Even before you enter, you can see the dry flowers and various decorations overflowing, as if you're walking into a new world of flowers.

Whenever you look up or look around, you can see beautiful dried flower decorations lighten up your day! The store also has a faint fragrance, making you feel as though you're in a field of flowers in spring.

There are beautiful decorations that spark joy in every corner. Kkotbatae is like every girl's dream brought into reality, luring people in.

Kkotbatae's flowers are also added to drinks as decorations. The store owner said that the flowers are edible, but when we tasted them, they only had a grassy taste... It's probably best to just appreciate the flowers as decorations.

When you're traveling Busan and shopping in the Nampodong area, don't miss Kkotbatae! Spend some time in the beautiful flowery atmosphere before continuing on with your journey.

2019 Busan Cafe Recommendations : 2. Gemstone (젬스톤)

The Yeongdodaegyo Bridge area in Busan, a little past the Nampodong area, is full of unique cafes. Among them is "Gemstone"! When you look at the cafe from the outside, it's like you're at the sports center you used to go to as a kid. However, it's a completely different place once you walk inside.

Gemstone, which was made by renovating an old swimming pool, has a large indoor space with a high ceiling. Many of the elements of the old swimming pool remain, giving Gemstone a very unique, special atmosphere.

If you visit Gemstone in the summer, you can enjoy the cool summer vibes of a pool party with your friends!

The swimming pool area is the most comfortable, as it has a really large space. On the second floor, not only are there more comfortable lounge seats, you can also look down at the view of the swimming pool downstairs.

Because it's so spacious, it doesn't feel crowded like other cafes even when it's full of people.

You must be wondering how Gemstone's desserts taste! We recommend their Injeolmi Bread (bottom left of the image below) and their Squid Ink Butter Bread (upper left of the image below), Gemstone's most famous menu items!

Sit in a comfortable, beautiful space and enjoy a relaxing afternoon! Gemstone has a unique atmosphere in Nampodong that you must try for yourself!

2019 Busan Cafe Recommendations : 3. e.c.t. (에쎄떼)

Also in the Nampodong/Yeongdo area is "e.c.t.". It may look unimpressive from the outside, like a factory or a workshop, but you'll be amazed once you walk in.

Born from the renovation of an old shipyard, the beautiful style and atmosphere of e.c.t. attracted our attention. The old-fashioned decoration in particular made us feel like we were brought back to the stormy Korea of the 1980s.

On the second floor, you can really feel e.c.t.'s attention to detail. Not only the decorations, but also the furniture and colors of every corner are perfectly harmonized to create the beauty of a movie scene.

Wouldn't it be just magnificent to take a picture here with a filter? It reminds us of the classic European movies and brings us back to that era. This place is enough to send anyone into a train of endless imagination.

This window is arguably the best place here, as you can sit by the window, enjoy the outside view of the port, and take romantic photos reminiscent of movies.

If you like desserts, e.c.t. won't disappoint. Delicate, lovely desserts are served on a European style plate, which suits the atmosphere perfectly.

When you're at Busan's Yeongdo area, don't miss e.c.t.! It'll certainly add more romance and beauty to your memories of Busan.

2019 Busan Cafe Recommendations : 4. PO TID (포티드)

"PO TID" is a magic themed cafe located in Seomyeon, decorated into a beautiful fantasy magical world. If you've watched the "Harry Potter" series or "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them", this is the magical world you've imagined in your wildest dreams.

PO TID immediately caught our attention from the moment we went in. The interior was decorated in warm wood tones that made it feel like spirits were living in every corner.

From decorations and furniture to the overall scenery, there was so much detail put in every aspect of PO TID. In particular, the wall was filled with exquisite decorations, which gave us the chills, as if we were really visiting a wizard's dwelling.

As we roamed around PO TID, the atmosphere and scenery left us speechless. Most themed cafes at best have some decorations, some decorated drinks, and staff in costumes. Cafes like PO TID, which recreate a complete fantasy world are incredibly rare.

We ordered some of PO TID's drinks, which tasted okay, but weren't particularly special other than their cups. However, we highly recommend their biscuits, which were thick, fluffy, and more delicious than we imagined.

If you're visiting Seomyeon, and you want a temporary escape from real life, let PO TID bring you into the world of magic!

2019 Busan Cafe Recommendations : 5. Vintage 38 (빈티지38)

"Vintage 38" is a supersized cafe in the Seomyeon area that is open 24/7. It's three-stories tall, very roomy, and decorated with a strong industrial style.

As soon as you enter the store, you'll find yourself intimidated by the sheer scale of the high ceilings on the first floor. The general style of the cafe isn't just old, its presentation is very refined with a rustic vintage style. Many similar cafes in Seoul could never dream to replicate the grandeur of Vintage 38.

As mentioned, Vintage 38 has three floors. On the second floor (not many seats), you'll find a completely different atmosphere for relaxing. The seats are bean bags, making you feel at home.

You can also look down from the third floor, but it's a bit scary. The third floor is difficult to describe, but we would still just recommend the first and second floors.

Vintage 38 is famous for their desserts! Since it's open 24/7, you can enjoy fresh desserts at any time. However, if you're planning to arrive in the middle of the night, you may be testing your luck.

Can't sleep at night? If you have no place to go in Seomyeon, come to Vintage 38 to sit and chat with your friends in the beautiful night scenery of Busan!

2019 Busan Cafe Recommendations : 6. Roman34 (로망34)

Right next to Vintage 38, "Roman34" also has numbers in its name, but has a completely different Western style, with beautiful decoration that would make any girl go wild.

Roman34 is set up like and looks like a high-end restaurant. Roman34 is decorated in an elegant and alluring design. Although each table and chair are have different styles, they harmonize well together.

There are three floors in total. Although Roman34's seating area is closer to one another, each seating area has a different atmosphere. We wanted to try sitting in all the different seats just to experience each of the different atmospheres.

On the third floor, there's an outdoor terrace where you can relax and enjoy the view of the streets of Seomyeon. The atmosphere of a greenhouse under the open sky is difficult to find, even in the warm spring and summer days.

We would recommend everyone visiting Roman34 to visit before the sun sets. The sunlight shines through the glass, making everything look like it came straight out of a movie, with the actors waiting in the corners.

Of course, you must not miss Roman34's desserts. We really didn't have any special expectations for the cakes here, and were left shocked after tasting. Turns out, the owner hired a dessert chef specifically to make the cakes!

Warm sunlight, coupled with delicious desserts and drinks, is certain to make your time at Roman34 romantic and beautiful.

2019 Busan Cafe Recommendations : 7. Landmark 9 (랜드마크9)

When you just look at the outside, you might mistake "Landmark 9" for a wedding hall or a high-end restaurant. In fact, it's the biggest cafe in the Seomyeon area. It has an overwhelming scale, a luxurious design, and is one of the most famous cafes in Seomyeon.

When you go in, you'll find yourself asking again, is this really not a high-end restaurant or club? The high ceilings of the interior and bright visuals of the window walls make the whole first floor of the cafe breathtakingly beautiful.

The second floor also has an alluring atmosphere with window walls. Moreover, there aren't many people during the daytime, and together with the sunlight, it gives the whole Land Mark 9 cafe a relaxed and cozy feel.

The seats in the indoor area on the second floor are very comfortable.If you come during the night time, we recommend going outdoors through the corridor to the umbrella landscape area below.

There's also an outdoor terrace on the third floor of the entire building. We noticed there were lots of couples coming to the third floor of Landmark 9 even when it's cold to avoid being disturbed by others.

Also, there's part of the first floor that we didn't show you yet! It's actually a bakery that sells desserts that you can enjoy in the cafe. You can grab your seats first, then come down to order here.

With lovely desserts that people can't take their eyes off, I truly feel that the desserts at Landmark 9 would be included in the top 3 delicious foods in the Seomyeon area. Many people don't just eat in the cafe, they buy more bread here to take back home.

Add a luxurious memory to your memories of Busan's Seomyeon area! Seomyeon's Landmark 9 will give you a different experience depending on whether you visit during the daytime or in the evening when the lights are on.

2019 Busan Cafe Recommendations : 8. Maison Cote (메종꽃떼)

When most people visit Haeundae, they think to visit the beaches, see the sea, walk along some attractions, then leave. The "Maison Cote" is a beautiful cafe that is hidden in the alleys along Haeundae.

The interior of the cafe has the simplicity of an art studio, but with many beautiful elements woven together. It's really difficult to put into words. It had a really nice vibe, with a very dreamy feel to it.

The outdoor garden in the middle of Maison Cote is also a magical hidden place.

When you walk upstairs, you can find another secret place. Doesn't it remind you of the times you would explore the top floors of buildings as a kid? The colors are really nice, and the beauty is amplified by the natural fading effect caused by the sea breeze.

For dessert, we recommend their Mint Chocolate Chip Smoothie, Chocolate Gateau (left in the image below), and Rose Water & Pistachio Cake (right in the image below), both of which have a rich texture.

Let's go watch the Haeundae seas together! On one side, you can view the city and on the other, you can view the beaches. Not everyone gets to see the beauty of Maison Cote. When you visit Haeundae, make sure you don't miss it!
