saveteeth dental clinic | Premium Oral Spa in Sinnonhyeon

Looking for a slightly different K-wellness experience in Korea? Why not take care of not only your skin and hair, but also your teeth and gums?

When traveling in Korea, many people add K-beauty and wellness experiences, such as skincare treatments and head spas, to their itineraries. However, with all the delicious food, desserts, and coffee you enjoy during your trip, it can be easy to overlook the care your teeth and gums need every day.

Unlike a typical dental visit for treating a specific problem, the oral spa at 'saveteeth dental clinic Sinnonhyeon' is a prevention-focused wellness program. After checking your current oral health, the program provides step-by-step care, including plaque detection, professional tooth brushing, scaling, Airflow treatment, and gum care.

Just like a spa that cleanses and cares for your skin, this treatment leaves even a tired mouth feeling clean and refreshed during your trip.

I visited saveteeth dental clinic in person to try the oral spa program.

'saveteeth dental clinic Sinnonhyeon' | My Visit

A reassuring first step at an unfamiliar Korean dental clinic

When visiting a dentist while traveling abroad, it can feel stressful not knowing what kind of treatment you will receive, whether it will be painful, or whether treatment is truly necessary.

Multilingual questionnaire kiosk

At 'saveteeth dental clinic Sinnonhyeon', I did not begin with treatment right away. Instead, I first completed a medical questionnaire and consent form for the provision of personal information using the kiosk in the waiting area.

Completing the questionnaire on a tablet

The kiosk supports multiple languages, so international visitors who are not familiar with Korean can conveniently enter information about their usual brushing habits, areas of discomfort, and eating habits.

Based on this information, I was then given an explanation of my current oral health and the care process.

Celebrity photo wall in the waiting area

The waiting area also featured a variety of photos of Korean celebrities who had visited the clinic. Knowing that many celebrities have continued to visit the clinic gave me a sense of its expertise and reliability, and it was also fun to look at the photos while waiting.

Dentist greeting a visitor in the waiting area

After I finished filling out the forms, the dentist came to the waiting room in person and accompanied me to the treatment room. Rather than having to find the treatment room alone in an unfamiliar space, I was guided personally by the dentist from the very beginning, which made me feel that I was receiving more attentive care.

Consultation with the dentist

I discussed what kind of treatment to receive with the dentist, based on the medical questionnaire.

'saveteeth dental clinic Sinnonhyeon' has two dentists, and the oral spa is also carried out by a dentist who personally checks each patient's oral condition. Since they first examine your current condition and lifestyle habits before beginning the necessary care, even international visitors visiting a Korean dentist for the first time can experience the program in a relatively relaxed state of mind.

Check your current oral condition with photos taken before treatment

Before the oral spa began in earnest, photos of my teeth were taken first so that I could compare the results before and after treatment.

Dental photographs on the consultation screen

I sat with the dentist and reviewed the photos on the large screen in front of the treatment room. The dentist explained one by one where tartar had built up the most and which areas around the gums needed attention.

When receiving dental care abroad, it can be difficult to fully understand your condition based only on a verbal explanation. Seeing my teeth directly on a large screen while listening to the explanation made everything much easier to understand. Since I was told in advance which areas would receive special attention, it felt like I was receiving care tailored to my oral condition rather than simply following a preset program.

After the treatment, I was also able to compare the new photos with the ones taken at the beginning and see how the surfaces of my teeth and the tartar had changed. This allowed me to see the results of the oral spa with my own eyes.

See plaque that is usually difficult to notice

Checking the teeth with a hand mirror

First, a special pink solution was applied to my teeth.

The solution highlights areas where plaque that is difficult to see with the naked eye remains. Even though I thought I brushed my teeth thoroughly, there were still areas between my teeth and around my gums that had not been cleaned properly.

I was told that the solution is used for oral care and that it was fine to swallow a small amount during the treatment, which was reassuring. It was also helpful that I was given a hand mirror during the oral spa, allowing me to see exactly which areas were being treated.

Seeing the plaque marked in color made it much easier to understand which areas I should brush more thoroughly in the future than simply listening to an explanation. This was especially useful for international visitors who may not fully understand a complicated explanation in Korean, as they could see their own oral condition directly.

Gently refresh your mouth with a professional brushing

After identifying the areas where plaque remained, I received a professional brushing.

Rather than simply cleaning the surfaces of my teeth as I might when brushing quickly at home, the staff carefully cleaned the areas where the teeth meet the gums, as well as between the teeth where a toothbrush cannot easily reach.

Professional oral care in progress

Just as a facial spa begins with cleansing to remove impurities from the surface of the skin, this felt like a gentle process for refreshing the entire mouth before the main scaling treatment.

International visitors who are unsure how to move their toothbrush or which areas tend to accumulate plaque can also naturally learn the proper brushing technique through professional care.

Pain-Free Scaling to Reduce Discomfort

Dentist providing oral care

After the professional brushing session, an ultrasonic device was used to remove the tartar firmly attached to my teeth.

The difference between scaling and an oral spa is that scaling focuses solely on tartar removal, while the oral spa is a customized eight-step care program that includes pain-free scaling, plasma gum care, tooth mineral strengthening, one-on-one education, and more.

Tartar is difficult to remove with regular brushing alone and requires professional care. At 'saveteeth dental clinic Sinnonhyeon', scaling was performed with a focus on the areas that needed it most while checking the condition of my teeth and gums.

When getting scaling abroad, one of the biggest concerns may be pain. The oral spa is performed with great care to reduce this discomfort, making it worth considering even for those who have been putting off visiting the dentist because they were worried that scaling would hurt.

Freshen Up Your Tooth Surfaces with a Xylitol Airflow Treatment

Care around the teeth and gums

After scaling, an airflow treatment using water and fine xylitol powder was performed.

While ultrasonic scaling removes tartar firmly attached to the teeth, airflow gently removes plaque and stains remaining on and between the teeth.

During a trip, you may enjoy coffee and a variety of foods more often than usual. If your brushing routine has become irregular or your teeth feel coated, an airflow treatment can help keep your mouth feeling fresher.

Dental care using a handheld device

The treatment uses air, water, and xylitol powder, so it is performed with minimal irritation. It is generally painless, although individual experiences may vary depending on the condition of your mouth.

Although water and powder are sprayed throughout the mouth, the treatment does not involve forceful scraping, so it felt more like a gentle, thorough cleaning of the tooth surfaces.

Caring for Your Gums as Well as Your Teeth

After the tooth surfaces were thoroughly cleaned, gum care using Plagen was performed.

While regular scaling is often thought of as focusing mainly on tartar removal, the oral spa also cares for the area between the teeth and gums. If your gums often swell or bleed when you brush, this is a chance to check the condition of your gums as well as your teeth.

Just as a skin spa goes beyond cleansing to care for your skin's overall condition, the oral spa is a step-by-step process that also cares for the area around the gums after removing plaque and tartar.

The Dentist Personally Compares and Explains the Results

Even after the treatment was complete, they took an after photo and compared the before-and-after results on a large screen. I was impressed by how they explained which areas had improved and which areas needed extra attention with a toothbrush going forward.

Home Care Guidance You Can Continue After Your Trip

After all the steps were complete, I was also shown the proper brushing technique to care for my teeth and gums at home. A two-row bristle toothbrush designed with gum health in mind was provided, so I can continue caring for my teeth using what I learned even after my trip.

Who Should Consider an Oral Spa?

This treatment is recommended for those who enjoy a variety of foods and coffee while traveling in Korea and find that their mouth feels less fresh than usual, as well as those who frequently develop plaque and tartar despite brushing diligently.

It is also a good option for those who do not have pain requiring dental treatment but want to check the current condition of their teeth and gums, as well as those who have been putting off a dental visit because they are concerned about the pain of scaling.

If you are looking for a unique wellness experience that you can enjoy only in Korea, similar to a beauty treatment or head spa, try an oral spa as a new addition to your itinerary, caring not only for your skin and body but also for your teeth and gums, which you use every day.
