The place we visited this time was the hanbok rental shop "Jin Hanbok," located near Gyeongbokgung Station. It's right in front of Gyeongbokgung Station, so it was easy to find, and they had a wide range of hanbok styles, making it easy to choose something that fits your taste.
In particular, "Jin Hanbok" lets you rent handmade hanbok that the owner, with years of experience in hanbok, designs and produces personally, so it felt like a great option for anyone who cares about the details and overall finish of their hanbok.

What kind of place is 'Jin Hanbok'?
'Jin Hanbok' is not just a place that quickly rents out hanbok, it is a hanbok rental shop that values the overall quality of the hanbok itself, and the style that best suits each customer.
The owner has worked with hanbok for 36 years, and they say they previously started with wedding hanbok in Gangnam, then expanded a wedding hanbok franchise to as many as 23 locations.
Because they have built up know-how over many years through wedding hanbok, custom-made hanbok, and rental hanbok, the biggest feature of 'Jin Hanbok' is that their standards for judging a hanbok, from the fabric and color to the fit and overall vibe, are simply different.
In fact, the hanbok in the store didn't feel mass-produced, you could really feel the details, as if each piece had been carefully worked on one by one.
'Jin Hanbok' hanbok are handcrafted pieces made with the design, color, details, and even the silhouette when worn in mind. Rather than feeling like budget rental hanbok, it truly felt like premium handcrafted hanbok made with expertise and craftsmanship.

They also have hanbok for girls and boys, making it a great choice for families too. If parents and kids wear hanbok together and walk around Gyeongbokgung Palace, you can take family photos that will be a lasting memory of your trip to Korea.
This time, Our editor will walk you through the full process of trying hanbok at 'Jin Hanbok' in detail.
When you enter the shop, you can store your belongings first. While traveling, you might have a lot of bags and personal items, but there's space inside the shop to keep them, so we could start the hanbok experience feeling light and comfortable.
After leaving our bags, it was time to start choosing hanbok in earnest. 'Jin Hanbok' had a wide range of styles available, and our two editors decided to try on three outfits each.
There are three types of hanbok we tried this time.
First: great-value hanbok (premium hanbok & Instagram-style hanbok),
Second: recommended hanbok (special hanbok),
Third: high-end hanbok (drama hanbok & masterpiece hanbok).
Each hanbok has a different vibe and charm, so we'll introduce them one by one in detail from here.
First hanbok: Great-value hanbok (Premium hanbok & Instagram-style hanbok)
The first hanbok we tried on was the Premium hanbok (right) and the Instagram-style hanbok (left).
You can change into your hanbok inside the shop, and the staff help you through the whole process so kindly. If it's your first time wearing hanbok, you might worry about how to put it on, but they adjust everything step by step, so we could get ready comfortably.

They also have fitting guidance and important notices posted, so it's a good idea to read them in advance before you visit!
Once you're fully dressed in hanbok, it's time for hair styling. The outfit itself is important, but the vibe really comes to life when you complete the look with your hair, too.
At 'Jin Hanbok', you can add hair styling that pairs beautifully with hanbok, from basic styling to more glamorous premium options.
Our editor team, two of us, each got recommendations for what suited us best and tried two different hairstyles. They styled it to match the feel of the hanbok and our face shapes, so even with the same hanbok experience, it felt like we each ended up with our own unique charm.

They also had a really pretty and wide selection of accessories you can use with your hair. Even one small piece makes the hanbok look pop so much more, so if you're planning to take photos at Gyeongbokgung Palace, we recommend getting hair styling and accessories together.

This is how the finished hairstyle looked! Doesn't it go perfectly with the hanbok?
You can also rent bags and shoes to match with your hanbok. Compared to wearing just the hanbok, adding accessories makes the overall look feel more complete, and your photos turn out much more natural and beautiful.

Let's head to Gyeongbokgung Palace to take some beautiful photos. There were so many foreign visitors wearing hanbok on their way to Gyeongbokgung Palace!
Gyeongbokgung Palace is one of Seoul's most iconic photo spots that pairs best with hanbok, so if you're planning a hanbok experience, we definitely recommend visiting together.
![]()
Also, you can enter Gyeongbokgung Palace for free when wearing hanbok. It's a great route to rent hanbok and head straight to Gyeongbokgung Palace for photos, perfect for anyone who wants to capture traditional-style shots during their Seoul trip.

Every corner of Gyeongbokgung Palace is a great photo spot, so you can snap amazing, frame-worthy shots anywhere.
The biggest charm of this hanbok is that even first-timers can choose it confidently without worrying about getting it wrong. It has a great balance of simple and glamorous, so it doesn't feel overwhelming, but it still stands out beautifully in photos.

The colors and details were well-balanced, so it matched the Gyeongbokgung Palace backdrop nicely,
and for foreign visitors trying hanbok for the first time, it felt like one of the easiest, most comfortable styles to choose.
The Second hanbok: Recommended hanbok (Special hanbok)
![]()
The second hanbok we tried on was the Special hanbok. The moment I saw it, I thought the colors were absolutely beautiful.
Overall, it has soft pastel tones, so instead of looking overly flashy, it creates a gentle, elegant vibe.

When it caught the sunlight, the skirt color showed through naturally, which came across as a much more dreamy, ethereal look in photos.
In particular, the skirt has a full, voluminous line, so the hanbok's charm really came alive every time you moved. It looks gorgeous even standing still, but when you lightly hold the skirt as you move, or take photos from the side, the colors and silhouette of the hanbok look even more beautiful.

It also pairs perfectly with Gyeongbokgung Palace's stone walls and traditional backdrops, so the overall mood of the photos turned out much more refined.
![]()
The two of us tried on different colorways from the same drama hanbok line, one had a bright, lively feel with a mix of purple and sky blue, while the other was calm and graceful, centered around a soft pink tone.
![]()
Even within the same category of hanbok, the vibe changes depending on the colors, which I loved, even if you wear them together with friends for photos, you can still bring out each person's unique charm.

Once you go inside Gyeongbokgung Palace, you can take photos not only in front of the palace buildings, but also in open areas with wide lawns and trees.
The drama hanbok felt even more charming when photographed outdoors. The soft pink hanbok looked even more subtle and graceful under sunlight, and the pastel-toned hanbok, paired with the green scenery, created a dreamy atmosphere.
It gives a totally different feel compared to photos in front of the stone wall, so I recommend walking around inside Gyeongbokgung Palace and capturing photos with a variety of backgrounds.
Holding a parasol while you shoot makes the overall vibe feel much more complete. It's not just adding a simple prop, it highlights the hanbok's elegance and becomes a focal point in photos, so the results turned out even prettier.
If you're planning to take hanbok photos at Gyeongbokgung Palace, make sure to shoot not only in front of the palace buildings, but also in areas where you can see lawns and trees. Against a park-like backdrop full of greenery, the hanbok colors look much softer and brighter.
As you head deeper into Gyeongbokgung Palace, there's also a spot where you can see a large pond. With traditional architecture and trees in the background, it's an amazing photo spot for hanbok pictures.

The calm mood unique to the waterside, along with the hanbok's soft colors, creates a completely different feel from photos taken in front of the palace buildings.
![]()
I'd recommend the drama hanbok to anyone who wants a more special vibe, like for SNS photos or a dedicated snapshot shoot.
![]()
Rather than simply being a flashy hanbok, this style really captures the elegance and beauty of traditional hanbok, so it looked especially gorgeous when we took photos at Gyeongbokgung Palace.
The Third hanbok: High-End hanbok (Drama hanbok & Masterpiece hanbok)
The last hanbok we tried on was the drama hanbok and the masterpiece hanbok.
![]()
This hanbok is the drama hanbok! It had a totally different vibe from the ones we tried earlier, it felt much more glamorous overall, with a strong sense of luxury.
![]()
This hanbok is the masterpiece hanbok! The subtle gold details over the bright-toned hanbok were incredibly striking, and in the sunlight, the decorations and fabric stood out even more, so it looked unmistakably impressive even in photos.
Taking photos with the traditional architecture of Gyeongbokgung Palace really brought out not only the signature elegance of hanbok, but also a more special, formal atmosphere.
![]()
In particular, this hanbok matched the palace backdrop perfectly. In spots where you could see the wide pond and pavilions together, the hanbok's graceful mood was emphasized even more, and in areas where you could see the interior pillars and dancheong (traditional painted patterns), the photos came out much more refined and classically elegant.
![]()
Because the mood changes depending on the background, it was fun to take photos in different spots inside Gyeongbokgung Palace, even while wearing the same hanbok.
![]()
When we changed into the third hanbok, we also switched up the hairstyle again. They restyled my hair to feel more traditional to match the hanbok, and it paired beautifully with the outfit. With the neat updo tied back and added hair accessories, the overall look felt much more complete, and it brought out the high-end feel of the special hanbok even better.
Since each hanbok suits a different style, I was also happy that they changed the hair to match each outfit.
![]()
After trying them on, I felt that the drama hanbok and masterpiece hanbok aren't just "flashy hanbok," they're the kind of hanbok that really shows their true value when captured in photos.
I think they'd be perfect for anyone who wants memorable travel photos, or who wants to take hanbok photos at Gyeongbokgung Palace with a more special vibe.
