The two shopping spots you can't skip here are the Hyundai Department Store Sinchon Branch (Main Building) and the nearby U-PLEX Sinchon.

💡Tip: The free luggage storage here is intended for large suitcases only — you can't leave shopping bags or smaller items. Also, pick up your luggage before 7:30 pm.

“MARITHÉ FRANÇOIS GIRBAUD” does a lot of easy-to-wear basics, and both the clothing and accessories move fast. I own a T-shirt and a cap from them myself. On my last visit, there were plenty of new arrivals with 2026 spring/summer elements — light blue stripes, small floral prints, and similar details. If casual is your style, you'll find something here.
Matin Kim
- Location: Main Building B2F
If you follow Korean fashion trends, Matin Kim should be on your list. The tailoring and overall aesthetic are a strong match for the current Korean style scene. It's not only about clothing — a lot of Korean women buy Matin Kim bags too. They're well-made, versatile, and work well for both commuting and casual outings.
The brand does have stores in other countries too, but the Korean stores carry more new arrivals and prices tend to run a bit lower. Worth a stop while you're already at Hyundai Department Store.
HERA

Hyundai Department Store Sinchon Branch carries a solid lineup of premium cosmetics, and HERA is one of the standouts — known especially for its base makeup and lipstick range.

The red pipe landmark right outside U-PLEX's main entrance is hard to miss — back when I was meeting friends in Sinchon, we'd always use it as our meeting point.
As I mentioned earlier, U-PLEX leans younger and more casual than the Main Building. It's where you'll find the brands that are most popular with Koreans (especially gen z) right now. The shops below are places I genuinely browse myself, and they're all brands that most Koreans have at least one piece from.

💡Tip: You don't need to step outside to get between the Main Building and U-PLEX. There are indoor passageways on the 4F and B2F of the Main Building that connect directly to U-PLEX. We recommend starting at the upper floors of the Main Building and working your way down — once you reach B2F, you can walk straight across to U-PLEX without going outside, and there are cafes and shops along the way.
MUSINSA STANDARD

If you want a few genuinely K-style pieces that you can wear year-round, MUSINSA STANDARD is a reliable pick. The focus is on neutral tones, clean cuts, and wearable basics — the kind of thing that works with most wardrobes.
They carry menswear, womenswear, and kidswear, and the range covers everything from smarter office-ready pieces to casual everyday clothes and outdoor gear. I have a few items from them at home. Worth a browse regardless of your usual style.
WONDERPLACE

WONDERPLACE is a fashion select shop that brings together multiple brands and styles in one space. The vibe skews streetwear and casual, with a wide variety of designs and a good selection of accessories including hats. If you'd rather browse multiple looks without committing to a single brand, this is the place for it.
8Seconds
- Location: U-PLEX 1F
Walk in through U-PLEX's main entrance and you'll see 8Seconds right away — one of the most recognizable casual fashion brands in Korea.
Like MUSINSA STANDARD, the focus is on easy-to-wear Korean-style basics, but 8Seconds brings in more color without going overboard. The pricing is accessible, making it a good fit for students and young professionals alike.
FILA
- Location: U-PLEX 7F
If your style is casual or sporty, FILA needs no introduction. Beyond clothing, FILA is well known for its sneakers — you'll find the classic blue, white, and red colorways, running shoes, and the Mary Jane-style sneakers that have been trending this year. If you're looking to pick up shoes while you're at Hyundai Department Store Sinchon, it's a solid stop.
We spotted Seoul-exclusive designs on a recent visit — caps and T-shirts featuring a tiger, which is a symbol of Korea. They were genuinely worth picking up as a Korea-specific souvenir.

When your feet start to give out, head to Cafe H and the Glass Lounge on the 9th floor of the Main Building. Whether you're already loaded up with shopping bags or just need a moment before your next stop, having a proper place to sit and reset makes a big difference during a full day out.
We hadn't been up to the 9th floor on previous visits, and it was a pleasant surprise — the space is open and well-designed, much nicer than you'd expect from a department store rest area.
The Glass Lounge features floor-to-ceiling windows with 180-degree views of Ansan Mountain and Yonsei University. In Korean geomancy, Ansan Mountain is associated with fresh starts, and nearby Munpibong Peak is said to carry energy linked to learning and talented people. If you're heading into a new chapter — exams, a career change, or anything else — it's a nice spot to pause and soak that in.

Star Square Plaza Live Performances

Every Tuesday and Thursday, there are free performances in the outdoor area right outside U-PLEX's main entrance, near the red pipes. The lineup rotates between underground idol groups and K-pop dance teams — the atmosphere gets lively fast, and it's one of the easiest places to feel Sinchon's street energy.
On my last visit, I caught a performance by underground idol group UGPP. I wasn't familiar with them going in, but a few songs in, the energy was hard to ignore. A good crowd had gathered and everyone seemed genuinely caught up in the moment — the kind of spontaneous street performance that's hard to plan for but always memorable.
💡Tip: These performances happen year-round, but start times vary. They typically begin somewhere between 17:00 and 19:00.
CAFE OH!MAKE
- Location: U-PLEX B2F
Anime fans should make a point of visiting CAFE OH!MAKE. The cafe runs regular collaborations with popular anime and game titles, with official merch, character artwork throughout the space, and limited-edition drinks and desserts tied to each theme.
