KMI Busan Health Checkup Center: Why It Might Be Even Better Than Seoul for Foreigners

I'm Hyeeum, Creatrip's health checkup coordinator. I visited the KMI Busan Health Screening Center on April 2026, at the center's invitation. This article is based on that on-site tour, conversations with center staff, and feedback from foreign customers we've referred to KMI Busan. Creatrip is an official booking partner of KMI.

1. Why I visited KMI Busan in person

We've been sending foreign customers to KMI for health checkups for a while now, and the feedback from Busan has been consistently strong — even stronger than what we hear from the Seoul branches. Customers kept telling us the Busan center felt more foreigner-friendly, the staff were more attentive, and the facility itself was impressive.

I'd been wanting to see it for myself, and when KMI Busan invited us for a tour, I jumped at the chance. I wanted to walk the entire floor, talk to the staff, and understand exactly what the experience looks like for a foreigner walking in for the first time.

The short version? I left thinking the Busan center might actually be better than Seoul in several ways. Let me walk you through what I saw.

2. Getting to KMI Busan: Location & Access

  • Address: 14 Jobang-ro, Dong-gu, Busan (Dongil Tower, 4F–5F)
  • Nearest Stations: Line 1 Beomil Station (Exit 2) / Line 2 Munhyeon Station (Exit 3)
  • Hours: Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri 07:00–16:00 / Wed, Sat 07:00–12:30

KMI Busan occupies the 4th and 5th floors of Dongil Tower. When you enter the building, head straight to the 4th floor — that's where check-in happens.

Follow the arrow signs on the 4th floor to reach the KMI reception area.

The directional signs are clear and easy to follow.

3. 4F — Check-in: Foreigner-Dedicated Reception

This is where I noticed the first major difference from the Seoul centers.

Dedicated foreigner staff at reception. As soon as you walk into the 4th floor check-in area, there are staff members specifically assigned to assist foreign patients. You don't need to figure out the kiosk on your own or wait in the general line wondering what to do. They come to you.

KMI Busan has two full-time foreigner-dedicated staff members, which means smooth interpretation throughout the entire process — from check-in to the final test on the 5th floor. In Seoul, you generally navigate the kiosk yourself (though it does have English), but in Busan, the human support is immediate and personal.

The kiosks themselves also have bilingual displays (Korean + English), which I actually found more clearly laid out than some of the Seoul branches.

A closer look at the reception desk — staff immediately assist foreign patients.

After check-in on the 4th floor, there's also an on-site dental screening room included as part of the checkup plan — something worth noting if you're comparing programs.

4. 5F — The Screening Floor: Facilities & Equipment

After completing check-in on the 4th floor, you head up to the 5th floor where all the actual screenings happen. The 5th floor is a massive 1,200-pyeong (approx. 3,967 sqm) single-floor screening center, designed so you can complete every test without moving between floors.

Changing Rooms — VIP Treatment for Foreign Patients

One thing that stood out: **foreign patients are given VIP-level private changing rooms.** Instead of the standard shared locker area, you get a private space to change into your gown comfortably. This is a small but meaningful touch, especially for first-time visitors who might feel uneasy in an unfamiliar medical setting.

After checking in on 4F, you move to 5F and change into your gown. Foreign patients use a VIP private room.

Blood Draw Station

Right after changing, the first stop is typically the blood draw (채혈실).

Real-Time Queue Display

The 5th floor has a real-time patient queue display, so you always know which test is next and how long the wait is. No guessing, no asking around.

Screening Rooms & Equipment

The screening floor is spacious and well-organized. Walking through, my honest impression was that it felt more open and comfortable than the Seoul branches I've visited. The hallways are wider, the rooms don't feel cramped, and the overall atmosphere is calm.

Center Philosophy

On the wall of the 5th floor, I noticed a display about the center's core philosophy — a commitment to prevention-first healthcare. KMI has been operating for nearly 40 years across Korea, and they take that mission seriously.

5. After Your Checkup: Meal Voucher & Nearby Spots

Just like the Seoul branches, KMI Busan provides a complimentary meal voucher for patients who've been fasting. After hours without food or water, this is a genuinely appreciated touch.

Where to use the meal voucher:

  • 1F — Paris Baguette (빠리바게트): Grab a sandwich, pastry, or coffee right in the same building.
  • 2F — Matgalcham Juk (맛깔참죽집): A Korean porridge restaurant — perfect for a gentle post-checkup meal, especially after endoscopy.

Bonus: There's also a Starbucks on the 1st floor of the building. The meal voucher doesn't cover Starbucks, but if you just want to sit down with a coffee after your checkup and decompress, it's a convenient spot right downstairs.

6. KMI Busan vs. Seoul: Honest Comparison

Having visited both the Seoul and Busan branches, here's my honest side-by-side take:

Category

Seoul (Gwanghwamun)

Busan

Foreigner support

English kiosk, general staff assistance

Dedicated foreigner staff (2 people), English kiosk

Changing rooms

Standard shared lockers

VIP private rooms for foreign patients

Facility feel

Efficient!

Spacious, 1,200-pyeong single floor

Equipment

CT, MRI, PET-CT available

CT, MRI available (same quality)

Pricing

Standard ~USD 340

Same as Seoul

Meal voucher

Yes

Yes (Paris Baguette 1F, porridge restaurant 2F)

Post-checkup vibe

City center, many dining options

Starbucks 1F, calmer neighborhood

Medical staff

Multiple specialists

Multiple specialists

Subway access

Gwanghwamun Stn Exit 6

Beomil Stn Exit 2 / Munhyeon Stn Exit 3

Bottom line: If you're visiting Busan anyway — or if you want a less crowded, more personally attended experience — KMI Busan is an excellent choice. The pricing is identical to Seoul, but the foreigner support infrastructure felt more hands-on during my visit.

7. How to Book KMI Busan on Creatrip

Why book through Creatrip instead of contacting KMI directly?

This is something I hear from customers all the time. When foreigners try to contact KMI directly — by phone or email — the response is often slow, or the language barrier makes it difficult to get clear answers. Multiple customers have told us that reaching KMI on their own was frustrating, with delayed replies and limited English communication.

Through Creatrip, the price is exactly the same as booking directly with KMI. There's no markup. But you get faster responses, end-to-end English support, and a dedicated buddy who handles everything from pre-booking questions to post-checkup follow-up. Customers consistently tell us that booking through Creatrip gave them peace of mind — same price, but with reliable communication and a smoother process overall.

Available Programs at KMI Busan
