Cyan Photo Studio Hongdae | Our Visit

This time I visited the currently most popular “Cyan Photo Studio” in Hongdae to get an ID photo and a profile photo shooting / photo session.
This place already had a reputation for a natural, sophisticated photo retouching style, so I was really excited even before the shooting / photo session!
Plus, it's located right in the heart of Hongdae, making it the perfect photo studio to drop into during shopping or a cafe tour.
As soon as I stepped into the photo studio, the overall white-toned space caught my eye first.
The clean grid design added a simple yet sophisticated vibe, and the overall tidy feel was impressive.
It’s not flashy or overly decorated, but that actually made it feel more comfortable and stable, and I felt it was a space where I could focus on the photo session.
I liked it even more because it has a minimalist yet stylish look that young people these days would love.
On one wall there were various model sample photos displayed, and the natural but not overdone photo retouching, along with the clean styling, really showed the studio’s overall mood and direction at a glance.
It was a space where I could imagine how the photos would look before the shooting, which made me even more excited!

Inside the photo studio, there’s a separate space where customers can fix their hair or makeup.
The waiting area is separate, so there’s no feeling of being watched, and I could take my time without rushing to get ready.
Thanks to that, I could calmly get myself ready before the photo session, so I liked that it created an environment where I could focus more on the photos.
This space was neatly stocked with a variety of hair styling tools, including a curling iron, a curling wand, combs, hair spray, hair clips, and a hair dryer.
It wasn't just a quick tidy-up, the studio had all the items you need to fully style your hair before the photo session, so it felt really convenient.
In particular, you don’t need to bring anything, since styling can be done on-site, so it felt low-pressure, and I had plenty of time to get my hair styled just the way I wanted.
There was also a separate changing room located at the very back of the space.
It was great that I could comfortably store coats, heavy clothing, and personal items, so I didn’t have to carry unnecessary bags during the photo session.
Especially in seasons like winter when you have more clothes, having a space like this felt even more important. I could neatly store my belongings and focus lightly on the photo session, so it was much more comfortable.
After storing our coats, we moved to the mirror area where we could tidy up.
I used the salon’s flat iron to fix my bangs. If you have bangs, you know how important that is!ss
The whole look can change depending on your bangs, so it’s something I always pay attention to before a photo session, and having a space where I could easily fix them made it even easier to get ready with peace of mind.
Thanks to this thoughtfully prepared space, I was able to calm down and get myself ready instead of feeling nervous before the photo session, and I think I could expect more satisfying results!
After finishing both hair and makeup, we moved to the external waiting area to get ready for the photo session.
The waiting area is separated from the shooting space, so you can wait calmly in a more relaxed atmosphere, and before the photo session you can wait your turn feeling comfortable rather than nervous.
First, I started with the ID photo shooting.
Once you're seated and positioned, the photographer carefully adjusts the angles and thoroughly checks your hair, paying attention to every little detail.
There was also a mirror next to me so I could check my appearance during the photo session, which helped me feel more at ease and stay focused on the shoot.
They kindly guided me through expressions and eye directions one by one, so I could create natural looks without feeling awkward, and I gradually relaxed during the photo session.
The shooting process was carried out in a relaxed atmosphere, so even first-timers should be able to participate without feeling pressured!

ID photo shooting was completed quickly in about 5 minutes, then it immediately continued into the profile photo shooting.
The profile photo shooting allowed for much more variety in posture and poses than an ID photo, and the whole session took place in a much more relaxed atmosphere.
I wasn’t limited to just one expression, so I could show a variety of looks and get photos that felt more natural and rich.
The photographer carefully checked my hair throughout the profile photo shooting, and paid close attention to the overall balance as well.
The shooting atmosphere was very relaxed and enjoyable, so instead of feeling nervous I was able to naturally immerse myself in the photo session,
They gave a lot of compliments along the way and guided the mood well, so I gained confidence and enjoyed the whole photo session.
During the profile photo shooting, the photographer first asked if I had any preferred poses.
Even if you don't have a specific pose in mind, they kindly recommend poses that match your personal style and direct you step by step.
Not only Dongjak but also how to manage your gaze and eye expression were taught in detail, so even though I felt a bit awkward at first, I gradually became more natural and was able to fully focus on the photo session.
Thanks to them, I was able to continue the photo session comfortably and without pressure, which left an impression on me!
After the shooting / photo session, we moved to the photo retouching area to choose the photos and have the photo retouching done.
First, primary photo retouching is done, where they adjust overall balance, like evening out skin tone and refining facial contours.
Next, a detailed second-stage photo retouching is carried out according to the customer’s preferences and requests, and if you tell them the parts you want changed, they will make detailed adjustments accordingly, so you can expect more satisfying results.
Also, if choosing photos is difficult, the photographer naturally recommends shots that suit you, which makes selecting much easier.
After we made the final photo selection, a second round of photo retouching was done, and overall I felt the details were really meticulous.
They naturally cleaned up blemish-like areas, and finished the photos in a neat, not overdone way, so I was even more satisfied with the results.
They even subtly did the eyelashes with photo retouching, making the eyes look sharper and the overall impression clearer and more vibrant!
The studio carefully checked facial symmetry during the ID photo photo retouching process, which was impressive.
I felt even more confident knowing the photographer would fine-tune even these small details with a great sense for what’s just right.
During the process of choosing photos and while the photo retouching was being done, the photographer was really kind and attentive, so I felt comfortable bringing up any parts I wanted changed or adjusted without any hesitation.
They paid close attention to even the smallest details and naturally incorporated my requests, so I felt communication went really well.
Thanks to that, the whole process felt much more comfortable, and I think I was more satisfied with the results.
Once the final photo retouching was finished, they printed the photos on the spot, so everything was completed at once without needing a return visit, which was really convenient.
The process from photo retouching to printing flowed smoothly, so it saved time, and I was also pleased that I could receive the finished photos right away!
You can also receive the original files via AirDrop, email, KakaoTalk Channel, and other methods, which made it feel much more convenient.
They provide both low-resolution and high-resolution files, and I was impressed that the low-resolution version is offered for situations where you can’t upload large files for online submissions, showing attention to detail like that.
Now let me introduce the finished results!

The profile photo package included one 5x7-inch frame, eight 3.5x4.5cm sized photos, and one card photo.
A frame was included, so I could use it right away without having to prepare one separately,
I was also pleased that multiple photos were included, so I can use them for a variety of purposes.
The ID photo package included one 3x5 inch frame, eight 3.5x4.5 cm photos, and one card-sized photo.
The basic setup was practical and well put together, making it great for job applications, document submissions, and other situations, and overall it felt like a neatly organized package.
Plus, there was even a small candy inside, which was a nice little thoughtful touch!
