Cheongyeonjae | Our Visit

In Korea, there is a traditional method called Saju (Four Pillars of Destinys), which interprets the flow of energy based on four pillars: the year, month, day, and hour of a person's birth.
Each of these four pillars consists of two characters, making a total of eight characters, which is why it is commonly called "Saju palja" (the eight characters of one's fate).
In Korea, when a child is born, it is customary for parents to take the child's date and time of birth to a naming center, where they have the child's energy and future prospects assessed before choosing the most suitable name!
Also, if you feel that your current name is not having a positive influence on you, it is quite common for people to visit a naming center to have their name analyzed and change it to a new one.
In Korea, people tend to place considerable trust in Saju, and it is regarded as an important standard that must be consulted when choosing a name!
The tradition of naming based on Saju is especially meaningful, as it involves examining the flow of a person's life from birth and choosing a name that can guide them in a better direction.

There are places these days that apply this traditional naming method to foreigners who love Korea!
Today, our editor personally visited and would like to introduce a place to you: Cheongyeonjae.
At Cheongyeonjae, they carefully create the most suitable Korean name for you by precisely analyzing your Saju using your date and time of birth.
Not only do they give you a name, but they also beautifully craft a seal engraved with your newly created Korean name, making the moment you receive it even more meaningful~!
Cheongyeonjae is just a 1-minute walk from Exit 3 of Chungjeonglo Station, making it very easy to find, and it has a welcoming atmosphere that makes it comfortable even for first-time visitors.
If you plan to live in Korea and need a Korean-style name, or if you want your own unique Korean name like your favorite K-POP artist, this is a place we highly recommend.
Oh, and by the way~ Although our editor did not try it personally, if you visit Cheongyeonjae, you can also experience tarot readings upon request, so it might be good to keep this in mind!
'Cheongyeonjae' was located so close to Exit 3 of Chungjeonglo Station that it only took about 30 seconds to get there.
It was a great first impression because it’s easy to stop by even with a busy schedule, and the location is convenient for foreign travelers to find.
When you open the door and step inside, you’ll find a small consultation area with a quiet and orderly atmosphere.
Thanks to the warm tea, tangerines, and snacks you prepared, I felt comfortable right away even though it was my first visit.
After visiting in person, I realized that Cheongyeonjae is not just a place where they choose names based solely on Saju.
This space was created by people who studied and researched Saju at university and graduate school, so
The phrase "a place where the study of fate and people come together" suited it much better than simply calling it a "naming center."
The two people who conducted today’s consultation were truly remarkable individuals who have been active in their respective fields for a long time!
One was a media expert with 28 years of experience at a news agency, and the other was a researcher who had studied traditional Korean classics and Eastern literature in depth.
Not only do they cover fortune-telling, but also psychology, classics, and culture as a whole, so I naturally felt a sense of trust while listening to their stories.
I definitely felt that this was a space with a true sense of professionalism.

Our editor brought a foreign friend's Saju and personally requested a name at Cheongyeonjae.
Since I’ll be staying in Korea soon, I thought it might be more convenient to have a Korean-style name.
Whether you’re handling administrative tasks, visiting hospitals or banks, or most importantly, socializing with Koreans, having a Korean name really helps break the ice and makes you feel much closer!
Having a Korean name and using only your original name can feel quite different, both in terms of how people around you react and what it means to you personally.
If you have a Korean name, it feels like you’re stepping further into this culture, and you also gain a bit of confidence, as if you’ve become a part of Korea!
So our editor thought, “It would be even better if this friend had a Korean name!” and brought their Saju information to Cheongyeonjae.
We officially began to read our friend's Saju.
At Cheongyeonjae, they explained that Saju is not simply seen as a type of fortune-telling, but rather serves as a kind of “navigation system” that reads the flow of your life and guides you on which direction to take moving forward.
As we went through each part of my friend’s birth year, month, day, and time, they carefully explained which energies were flowing well and which areas could use a bit of improvement. The explanations were given in everyday language rather than technical terms, so it was really easy to understand.
As I listened, I realized that Saju is not simply about fortune-telling,
It naturally resonated with me as a tool to better understand my current state and future direction.
The process of naming is also about aligning with this flow, so I immediately understood why having a good name is so important.
As each aspect of the Saju was explained, the overall tendencies and flow of my friend's Saju naturally became apparent.
Depending on the season or time of birth, each person’s energy manifests differently.
My friend said that while things generally go smoothly overall, there can be certain aspects that feel a bit cold or somewhat lacking.
In particular, it was mentioned that if there is a lack of certain energy in your Saju , it can be naturally supplemented through your name.
For example, if someone is born in winter and has a strong cold energy, their name is chosen to include a bit of warmth!
It's not just about putting in nice words; it serves to guide people in the direction they need.
The explanation that even a single name holds great significance was truly impressive!
After thoroughly examining the flow of my friend's Saju, they first outlined the general direction for what kind of name would best complement and balance this energy.
Based on this analysis, we will suggest three name candidates so you can choose the one you like best.
They explain the meaning and combination principles of each name, as well as which energy it complements, so I thought it would be easy for foreigners to understand.
What I found interesting was that if you have a preferred family name, you can have your name created with that surname!
The website provides a reference table listing commonly used surnames by country and their recommended Korean equivalents.
So even foreigners creating a Korean name for the first time can worry less about choosing a surname and make their decision more comfortably!
In particular, I found it really fun and memorable that some foreigners who love Korea choose the surname of their favorite K-POP celebrity.
If you don’t have a preferred family name, they will also recommend the most suitable one based on your Saju, so there’s no need to worry!
After choosing the final name, we received a detailed explanation of why this name suited our friend the best.
Your friend was born during Chuwol, which refers to a particularly cold and frozen period in the middle of winter.
The problem was that there was absolutely no warm energy of fire (火) anywhere in my friend's saju (Korean fortune), which could melt away this cold energy.
So, a character symbolizing the energy of fire was included in the name, with the intention of providing the warmth and vitality that your friend needs!
I was truly impressed by the idea that a name can complement the aspects I was born with and guide me toward a better path.
As I listened to the explanation, I was reminded once again that even a single name contains a thoughtful intention to support a person's energy and future direction.
Once the naming process is complete, you will receive the entire content thoughtfully organized in a package.
The package includes an A4-sized naming certificate with the name written in Korean, Chinese characters, and English, as well as a booklet explaining the principles behind the name’s creation, a Saju analysis, and an interpretation of the name’s meaning, making it feel like an official document.
In particular, the naming certificate is made not from ordinary paper, but from a sturdy, award certificate-quality material, making it perfect for keeping as a memento for a long time or giving as a gift.
Because the entire package is delivered in a premium case, you'll feel a sense of satisfaction that you’ve truly received a proper name from Korea.

They even made a personalized seal with my newly created Korean name, which I found really practical!
In Korea, people often use seals for documents or simple verification in daily life.
So I thought this stamp would be quite useful for my friend during future stays in Korea as well.
It comes with a traditional Korean lucky pouch and case, making it convenient to store and perfect as a gift!
Since each seal is individually engraved according to the name, rather than being made on the spot, some production time is required.
You can enjoy the full package, making your time in Korea much more enriching.
Our editor picked up the order in person at Cheongyeonjae, as it is just a 1-minute walk from Chungjeongno Station.
Since you can get there so quickly by taking Line 2, it's convenient and easy to stop by even for a short visit.
It seemed like a very convenient method for foreigners who are traveling and have a tight schedule.

'Cheongyeonjae' is not simply a place where names are given, but a place where you can directly experience the traditional Korean naming culture that can only be found in Korea.
If you are a foreigner who is learning Korean and loves Korean culture, the name you create at Cheongyeonjae will feel like a “Korean-style identity filled with your own story.”
The process of understanding current trends and tendencies through Saju and receiving a meaningful name suited to them was quite interesting and special.
With just one consultation, you can receive a package that includes your name, an explanation, and a seal, making it a practical yet memorable experience you can enjoy during your trip to Korea~!
Thanks to its location just a 1-minute walk from Chungjeongno Station, you can easily stop by without any hassle, even if you only have a short amount of time during your trip..
If you want to make your time in Korea a little more special, or if you want to create your very own Korean name!
I can confidently recommend Cheongyeonjae as the perfect place for foreigners.
