Today, we visited "Bbandak Bbandak Dakgalbi Myeongdong" a famous dakgalbi (spicy stir-fried chicken) restaurant located in Myeongdong.
It was really easy to find, as it’s about a 2-minute walk from Myeongdong Station Exit 6.
Above all, it’s located right in the heart of Myeongdong, making it the perfect spot to stop by while shopping or sightseeing.
As soon as you go up to the second floor, a sign immediately catches your eye, and the moment you step inside, you’re greeted by a clean and cozy atmosphere.
A subtle aroma of delicious food wafted from the kitchen, making us even more excited for the meal to come!
A refreshing salad and kimchi are served as side dishes by default, so you can enjoy your meal cleanly without any greasiness.
Once you've finished, you can freely help yourself to as much as you want at the self-serve bar.
There is also hot broth available at the self-serve bar, so you can help yourself to as much as you like.
Disposable aprons are also provided right next to you, so you don't have to worry about getting your clothes dirty while eating.

Spoons, chopsticks, tissues, and even an opener were all neatly organized in a drawer-style compartment next to the table, making them easy to take out and use.
When ordering, you can select your menu using the tablet provided at each table.
Since it supports a variety of languages such as English, Japanese, and Chinese, foreigners can place orders easily without any language barriers.
The menu offers a great variety! In addition to their signature dish, dakgalbi (spicy stir-fried chicken), popular items like dakhanmari (whole chicken hot pot) and chicken dishes are personally recommended by the owner, so you can choose from a range of chicken dishes to suit your taste.
It's great that there's a wide variety of menu options, but what really impressed us was the thoughtful consideration of providing separate spice level options for those who can't handle spicy food well.
If the owner also finds the spiciness overwhelming They recommended the "Rose" or "Soy Sauce" flavors, saying that they have a tender and sweet taste similar to jjimdak, so even those who have trouble with spicy food can enjoy them without any worries.

Now, let's dive into today's main dishes!
Our editor and their group decided to try a variety of dishes by selecting several different menu items.
The first dish that came out was the Bulgogi Cheese Dakgalbi, which the owner highly recommended.
According to the owner, this menu item is especially popular and is one of the best-sellers at the store!
As soon as the dishes arrived, their appearance immediately caught my eye. Just looking at them made me think, “Wow… this is going to be really delicious.”
Half of the dish features spicy dakgalbi, while the other half is topped with domestic cheese and beef, so I really liked that you can enjoy a variety of flavors all at once.
When served at the table, the cheese portion has already been torched once, which makes the cheese aroma even richer and more enticing.
The owner gave us a special demonstration of torch work right in front of us today, but usually, for customer safety, this process is carried out in the kitchen.
Once it’s placed on the table, just turn on the heat and warm it up briefly—it’s ready to eat at the perfect temperature, so you can enjoy it with ease!
As soon as it was served, I took a bite, and it was truly astonishingly delicious.
Maybe it's because they use only the most tender chicken thigh meat, but the meat was incredibly juicy and soft—so much so that I was amazed with every bite.
And the cheese that completes the flavor!
The rich, deep flavor blended perfectly with the dakgalbi, making it truly a “match made in heaven.”

The owner explained the ingredients used in the store and mentioned that they always strive to use only the finest ingredients in every dish.
The most important standard is to ensure that our guests can enjoy their meals deliciously and with peace of mind.
They say they use only 100% natural Korean cheese, and perhaps that's why the flavor is much richer and has a uniquely savory taste.
I wondered, "Why does this taste so good?" but as soon as I heard the reason, it all made sense!

Dakgalbi is delicious when dipped in cheese, but it has a whole different charm when enjoyed with the pickled radish wraps provided!
The tender meat and crisp pickled radish wraps come together to create a livelier texture, and the light, tangy flavor makes it a much fresher and more enjoyable experience.

If you've had dakgalbi in Korea, you can't miss finishing off with kimchi fried rice!
The savory aroma of sesame oil blends perfectly with the fluffy rice, making it appealing from the very first scent.
The moment you take a bite, the nutty flavor and umami spread in your mouth, making this a hearty and satisfying dish.

The next dish we'd like to introduce is the Dakhanmari (whole chicken hot pot), which the owner takes great pride in.
At first glance, it may look similar at any restaurant, but in fact, the overall quality of the dish can vary greatly depending on the ingredients used or the flavor of the broth, so the differences between restaurants are quite noticeable with this menu.
They use a rich broth filled with plenty of green onions and only high-quality chicken to create a deep, flavorful taste. The optional additions of potatoes, rice cakes, and noodles are also key elements of this dish.
The more you add and let it simmer, the richer the broth becomes, allowing you to truly experience the authentic charm of Dakhanmari.
Once the broth started boiling vigorously, a staff member came to our table and cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces, making it much more convenient to enjoy.
The owner kindly explained how to make the sauce.
Add a spoonful of sauce and a bit of broth, then mix in finely chopped cabbage.
Finish by adding a touch of mustard to taste and mix well—done!
It was a simple sauce, but it paired perfectly with Dakhanmari!
After eating some of the meat, we finished the meal by adding knife-cut noodles.
The noodles were incredibly chewy, and eating them with the hot broth felt like enjoying a truly comforting, “real healing food”!
Since it's a restaurant specializing in dakgalbi, I thought only the dakgalbi would be outstanding, but after trying it, the dakhanmari was surprisingly delicious.

We ordered half-and-half chicken (fried & yangnyeom).
It was great to enjoy two flavors at once, and the outside was crispy while the inside was moist, so I really enjoyed it.
