Korea University | Complete Campus Tour Guide

Hello, everyone, we are providing you with the latest daily information about Korea byCreatrip.

KoreaUniversity's campus is so large that it's divided into three areas, and there's even a mountain nearby, so the slopes are pretty steep….

On that vast site,KoreaUniversity's campus tour is brought to you

KoreaWhat kind of university is it?

KoreaUniversity is one of South Korea's leading prestigious universities, celebrating its 120th anniversary in 2025!

Korea University Seoul Campus is divided into three main areas.

  • Red circle mark... Humanities and Social Sciences area
  • Yellow circle mark... Green area
  • Blue circle mark... Natural Sciences area

Since each area is large, there are two nearest stations

Blue circle mark (Nature Area) → The nearest station is Line 6 Anam Station,

Red circle mark (Humanities and Social Sciences Area) → Line 6 Korea University (Koryo University) Station is the nearest station.

By the way, the language school is in the red circle mark (Humanities and Social Sciences area), so Korea University Station is the closest.

However, it's a bit of a walk from the station, so be sure to give yourself plenty of time!

Campus Introduction

Starting Point: Subway 'Anam Station'

This time, I decided to explore the Natural Sciences Campus (Blue Area).
As soon as you leave Anyang Station, the campus is spread out right in front of you!

You can also see Korea University Hospital to the side. One of the features here is that the university and medical institution are adjacent to each other.

At the entrance of the campus, there is even a bus exclusively for Korea University!
Since the grounds are very spacious, it seems that buses are running to help people get around the campus.

Science Library

The first thing I saw was the Science Library.

Korea University Seoul Campus has as many as five libraries

  • Central Library(중앙도서관
Opened in 1978, it holds about 800,000 materials. It boasts the largest collection among private universities in Korea.

  • Haesong Law Library(해송법학도서관
Holds the largest collection among law libraries in Korea.

  • Science Library(과학도서관
Focuses on engineering, medicine, and natural sciences with a collection of about 330,000 volumes.

  • Centennial Memorial Digital Library(백주년기념 학술정보관
Located in the 'Centennial Memorial Samsung Hall,' built to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Korea University, it houses digital resources and national treasure-level cultural assets.

  • Graduate School Library(중앙도서관:대학원
Built in 1937, it is now also used as research offices for professors and graduate students.

The entire library system of Korea University boasts a collection of over 2.5 million volumes, making it one of the largest in South Korea

In front of the Science Library, there is an object with 'KU,' the symbol of Korea University.

It's a shame the picture didn't turn out well because the weather wasn't good…

Sanhakgwan (Industry-Academia Hall)

Behind the objet d'art, there is the Sangakukan. It is called the Techno Complex, and inside are several corporate research laboratories. This facility supports collaborative research between the university and companies.

The rental income generated here is apparently being used for things like scholarships for students in the Faculty of Engineering!

There were several terraces in front of the Sangakukan! On nice days, it seems like a good idea to have coffee at a terrace seat

Hana Square

Directly beneath the KU Objet, there is a large multi-purpose complex called Hana Square, boasting an area of approximately 8,500 tsubo.

It is a three-story basement building packed with facilities convenient for student life

Underground, there are plenty of dining options such as cafes, bakeries, and fast food restaurants. From light snacks to full meals, it seems like you could satisfy almost all your needs right here.

There was also a lounge where students could take a break

There’s even a branch office of Hana Bank!

Actually, it seems that this place was named 'Hana Square' because Hana Bank donated funds to have it built

What surprised me inside Hana Square was a bookstore called 'UNISTORE.' They offer not only textbooks and stationery, but also a wide variety of items including Korea University logo goods and daily necessities

This store offers a variety of products, including textbooks, general books, stationery, and even goods featuring the Korea University logo.

It's quite spacious, and the university goods section was really impressive. It seems great for souvenirs, too

You don’t often see such a large souvenir shop

I think it's about time to leave this nature area

Even so, the Korea University campus has a lot of slopes, doesn’t it? (lol)

Humanities and Social Sciences Area

Next, I would like to go to the main area, the Humanities and Social Sciences area

When you head from the Natural Sciences Area to the Humanities and Social Sciences Area, you'll come across buildings that look like European castles! So cool…

There’s a Hana Bank branch here too!

There was an entrance in front of me, so I decided to go in for now Is this the back gate?

Student Center

The building right in front of you as you enter from the back entrance is the 'Student Hall.'

This place is currently undergoing renovation! It's quite large, so there's a lot of anticipation for how it will look after the renewal.

On this day, the school festival was being held, and food trucks were lined up all over the campus, filling the air with delicious aromas

Furthermore, even a Samsung Galaxy event was being held, and as expected from a prestigious university, collaborations with companies seemed very active

Main Building

Speaking of Korea University, the 'Main Building' is definitely the most famous one, right?!

The stately stone-built 'Main Building' is an architectural symbol of Korea University. Registered as Cultural Heritage Site No. 285, its dignified presence fascinates many people

However, since lectures are not being held, it seems there are not many opportunities to go inside.

Daramswi-gil (Squirrel Road)

There is a path behind the main building called 'Squirrel Path'

It is said that the origin is that squirrels used to frequently appear, but in recent years it seems they are rarely seen.

There is also a superstition that 'good things will happen if you see a squirrel,' making this place a bit of a romantic spot on campus

Even the footprints of squirrels are drawn on the path! Isn't it adorable?

Main Library: Graduate School

After passing through Squirrel Road, the library came into view

This library, like the main building, is one of Korea University's representative buildings and is also designated as a cultural property

It seems that only graduate students can use the library.

Artworks are displayed throughout the campus.

The object on the right has a tiger sitting on top of a globe.

Baek Centennial Samsung Hall(Baek Centennial Samsung Hall)

Next, we visited the 'Centennial Samsung Hall,' which was built in 2005 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of its founding

This building, constructed thanks to a donation from Samsung, houses the Korea University Museum and reading rooms, among other facilities.

Korea University Museum

Viewing Hours: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Closed Days: Sundays, Mondays, national holidays, and museum-specified closure days

Fee: Free

A museum that houses about 100,000 items and displays three national treasures

You can enjoy a wide range of themes such as archaeology, history, folklore, and art, so it is well worth a visit

There are plenty of valuable materials and it's definitely worth seeing, so if you visit Korea University, be sure to stop by at least once

Main Gate

Here it is, everyone’s familiar “Korea University Main Gate”!

Featuring a solid stone arch-shaped design, this building can also be said to be one of the iconic buildings of Korea University.

I also saw students and tourists taking pictures that day

Subway 'Anam Station'

If you exit from Subway Line 6 'Anam Station,' you can immediately reach the Humanities and Social Sciences area of Korea University’s campus.

The tiger statue is welcoming the students, isn't it?

Korean Language Center

Alright, it's about time to head to the Language Institute (Korean Language Center) building that everyone has been waiting for

Before that, I would like to introduce the location of the language school.

  • Red circle mark: Language School (Korean Language Center)
  • Blue circle mark: Main Gate

I think there are various ways to get from the nearest station, Anam, to the language school, but this time I will introduce two easy-to-understand methods.

How to Get There ①

Head toward the main gate from Anyan Station, turn left at the museum, and go straight ahead. It may take a little time, but it's a route you can follow without getting lost.

Parking Lot

How to Get There ②

Exit from exit 2 of the station, head toward the Alumni Hall, and take the route that crosses the parking lot there.

It's the shortest distance, but it might be a little confusing for first-timers.

If you go to Korea University and know a better way to get there, please let me know in the comments! (lol)

No matter which road you take, you'll have to climb some hills…

The bus stop is right in front of the language school, so it might be convenient for those commuting by bus.

The building visible in the back is the Korean Language Institute, Korea University Korean Language Center

Lounge

This is a lounge that students can use freely. There was also a security guard

The Language Institute of Korea University uses original textbooks developed in-house.

The classes are also well-known for focusing on conversation, aren't they?

Lounges are also available on other floors.

It seems that you can freely browse books and other materials

There were many classrooms installed on each floor.

The inside of the classroom is equipped with monitors, and there are no more than 14 students.

The next place we visited is the club activities room.

Different club activities are held here on each day of the week

Looking at the content, you can see Taekwondo, dance, and singing, right?

There was someone in the office who could assist in each language.

  • Japanese
  • English
  • Chinese
  • Vietnamese

Bonus

This concludes the campus tour

I've been walking around, so I need to take a break!

There are many cafes around the campus, but this time I decided to visit a cafe that's good for studying!

Café Anam-dong

  • Address: 서울 성북구 고려대로22길 5 1st floor (Seoul Seongbuk-gu Korea University-ro 22-gil 5 1st floor)
  • Business Hours: 11:00 AM – 12:00 AM (until 10:00 PM on weekends)

Not only drinks but also desserts such as muffins are sold

The best thing about this place is definitely its spaciousness! The seats are wide apart, so you can relax comfortably

You can see people working on computers or tablets at every seat

Plenty of power outlets! Of course, Wi-Fi is also available

We are also running an event where you get a 1,000 won discount for takeout

I revived myself by taking in some caffeine when I was tired (lol)

This kind of comfortable café near the school is rare, so if you attend the language institute, be sure to visit

Summary

This concludes the Korea University campus tour!

Anyway, it's so vast and there are so many hills that, honestly, I got pretty tired from all the walking…(lol)

However, in return, there are many historic buildings and beautiful scenery, making it a campus that lifts your spirits as you walk to class

The surroundings are quiet, and it's also a big advantage that it's an environment where you can concentrate on studying
