Our Visit
Today, I visited TAP and SHOP and BAR where you can enjoy a variety of wines and delicious side dishes at reasonable prices. It was easy to find because I just had to go straight from Hapjeong Station Exit 2, and it was nice that it was close to Hongdae.
TAP and SHOP and BAR occupies the entire first floor, so it was very spacious and comfortable. The store has a sophisticated and cozy atmosphere, making it a great place to visit with family, friends, or a partner!
TAP and SHOP and BAR has large windows, so it had a bright atmosphere during the day, and it became more emotional thanks to the beam projector after the sun went down. There is a variety of seating options, so it would be great for groups or couples.
There were so many kinds of wines that it was fun to look around. I liked that there were not only wines but also a variety of beers and simple cheese snacks, so you could enjoy according to your preference.
'They have great deals for enjoying wine this month. This month's benefits include a set of appetizers that pair well with wine, available at a discounted price! No need to worry about side dishes, and I was surprised that the wine prices are cheaper than most large supermarkets.
The benefits of this month are great, but the feature of TAP and SHOP and BAR is that you can taste the wine you want at a reasonable price. We recommend tasting the wine you're curious about through the wine dispenser, then purchasing individual bottles at a discount with this month's special offer! I'll show you how to use the wine dispenser from now on.
If you go to the TAP and SHOP and BAR counter, there is a QR code. You can do a simple sign-up through the QR code. Please note that there is also a QR code dedicated to foreign languages for foreigners! After completing the membership registration, please show the generated QR to the staff and recharge the voucher that can be used at all branches at the tab shop bar.
The wine dispenser had not only white wine, red wine, and rosé wine, but also sake and whiskey! When you touch the display, you can also see an explanation about the wine, making it much easier to choose a wine.
Once you have chosen your desired wine, please take the wine glass from underneath the dispenser.
Please scan the QR code you received earlier with the QR scanner.
Select the wine you want, and choose whether to taste it or have a glass.
Please place the wine glass at the outlet and wait.
The point to keep in mind here is that the wine will come out immediately after 3 seconds of selection, so you need to hold the wine glass at the spout before 3 seconds pass. If it is not handled quickly, the wine might fall to the floor.
Place the wine glass properly under the spout, and when the wine flows into the glass, it's done! You don't have to receive just one glass each time, tasting is also possible, so the editor's wine preference could be found easily and affordably.
They recommend one drink per person, so when changing wine, you can clean the glass using the featured rinser. After washing, please use the nearby paper towel to remove the moisture.
I went to the counter to choose appetizers that go well with the wine I selected. There were plenty of side dishes, and since they also had cafe drinks, I recommend ordering a drink for those who don't drink alcohol! Even though it's a wine bar, they have beer, whiskey, sake, and cafe menu items ready, so I felt that they consider the preferences of many people.
While choosing a menu, the oysters on one side of the counter caught my eye. The oysters at TAP and SHOP and BAR are linen net oysters that are shipped directly from Tongyeong, the home of oysters, every day. They are fresh and quite large. In fact, these oysters are said to be used in omakase and upscale restaurants.
Can you see the oyster's size is as big as a palm? It was fascinating as it was the biggest oyster I've ever seen. They clean oysters thoroughly when they arrive from Tongyeong, display them fresh with ice on the counter, and wash them once again when an order comes in.
There were so many delicious side dishes that it was hard to choose. The editor's party finally decided on grilled pork neck, napa cabbage wrap, grilled oysters, arugula cheese tteokbokki, and fried sundae, Truffle fries, kimchi fried rice, basil cream pasta, and ham melon were ordered. The portions of all the dishes were larger and looked tastier than in the pictures, so I wanted to eat them quickly.
Arugula Cheese Tteokbokki
Fried Sundae (Korean Sausage)
First is 'Arugula Cheese Tteokbokki' and 'Fried Sundae'. The tteokbokki tasted like rose tteokbokki, and eating it with arugula made it not cloying, so I could keep eating it. The tteokbokki was even more delicious than at specialized tteokbokki restaurants. When I asked for the secret, they said they make vegetable broth every morning to use as the base! It had a clean and deep taste because it didn't contain any seasonings. The fried sundae was really a delicacy! It was chewy, and dipping it in tteokbokki sauce made it twice as delicious.
Grilled Oyster
'Grilled oysters' had incredibly large meat, making them an exceptional delight to chew. It had a buttery flavor, and it went really well with the cheese. The soft and moist texture melted gently in my mouth, richly capturing the fresh taste of the sea, and the pairing with wine was also very good.
Kimchi Fried Rice
'Kimchi-bokkeumbap' tasted like it was really made with homemade kimchi, not like something you'd buy. Moreover, mixing it with a soft-boiled fried egg made it even more savory and smooth. After eating fatty foods and having kimchi fried rice in-between, the food kept going in nonstop.
Basil Cream Pasta
'Basil Cream Pasta' is pasta with a smooth and creamy sauce combined with the fresh scent of basil. The combination of basil and cream was so perfect that I was surprised at how delicious it was when I first ate it. Additionally, the whole bacon and mushrooms were added as toppings, making the flavor feel even more diverse.
Grilled Pork Neck and Napa Cabbage Wraps
'Grilled Pork Jowl and Napa Cabbage Wrap' felt like eating well-grilled pork jowl at a barbecue restaurant. We were able to grill pork jowl and mushrooms together and enjoy them, and the special sauce on the napa cabbage was a kick. The napa cabbage wraps and grilled pork jowl went so well together that I kept eating them together.
Truffle Fries
'Truffle Fries' immediately had a truffle aroma when I received them. Thanks to the truffles, the luxurious flavor was evident and I couldn't stop going back for more. I liked it because it stayed crispy even after a long time. If you want a simple snack, I recommend the truffle fries!
Jamon Melon
Finally, it's 'Jamon Melon'. First of all, the visuals were very pretty, and the size of the melon was really big. Eating sweet melon topped with salty ham was the perfect combination of sweet and salty flavors. It was a great snack to accompany wine!
After the gathering with the group ended, I briefly tidied up. Just place the empty plates and wine glasses right by the entrance.
