Must-Visit Eateries in Jecheon
1. Sagwa Namujip (사과나무집)
Address: Choongbuk, Jecheon-si, Cheongpung-myeon, Bibong-gil 2
Hours: 9:00~17:00 (Closed every Monday)
'Sagwa Namujip' is a popular Korean restaurant known for its hot pot, loved by locals too. True to its name, all dishes and sides here are made with apple enzymes and juice instead of sugar and seasonings!
Their standout dishes are the Soft Tofu Mushroom Hot Pot and the Korean Beef Bulgogi Mushroom Hot Pot. I tried the Soft Tofu Mushroom Hot Pot, which had a light, flavorful broth filled with tofu and mushrooms. You can adjust the seasoning to your taste, and though it’s a generous portion for two, it was so tasty we finished every bite.
After the meal, they serve sweet apple juice as a refreshing dessert. With a welcoming owner and friendly staff, it’s a perfect spot for foreign tourists. Plus, it’s near the Cheongpung Lake Monorail, so be sure to stop by on your trip!
2. Hoban's Garden (호반의 뜰)
Address: 166 Munhwajae-gil, Cheongpung-myeon, Jecheon-si, Chungbuk 2nd floor
Hours: 9:00~18:00 (Last order 17:30)
'Hoban's Garden' is a local favorite among taxi drivers in Jecheon for its great food! Located right in front of the Cheongpung Lake Cable Car, it’s the perfect spot for a tasty, affordable Korean meal.
The meal includes over 10 traditional Korean side dishes and grilled mackerel. I was amazed as the side dishes just kept coming!
The mackerel is perfectly cooked and moist, great with rice, and the basic sides like seaweed soup and stir-fried pork are all tasty and well-prepared. The flavors are mild and balanced, making it easy for anyone to enjoy, even if you’re new to Korean food.
3. Seonseuje Donkatsu (선수제돈까스)
Address: 582 Uirimdaero, Jecheon, Chungbuk
Hours: 11:00~20:00 (15:30~17:00 Break Time, 19:40 Last Order)
If you’re looking for a comfortable spot to eat near Uirimji, there’s a cozy Korean-style restaurant just a 5-minute walk away.
The signature handmade pork cutlet, priced at 12,000 KRW, includes soup, two thick and crispy cutlets, rice, salad, and a drink. I tried the cheese pork cutlet, and it was loaded with cheese!
You can pick a mild or spicy sauce—the spicy one has a touch of red pepper but isn’t too hot, so give it a try if you like a bit of heat! At around $10, it’s a great deal, and you can even get a pork cutlet refill for a filling meal.
4. Chaegane (채가네)
Address: 1st Floor, 4-1 Uirimdae-ro 11-gil, Jecheon-si, Chungbuk
Hours: 11:00 AM - 8:00 PM
Looking for authentic Korean home-cooked meals made with care? This spot specializes in lotus leaf-aged dishes made from locally grown lotus leaves in Jecheon, and it’s foreigner-friendly with menus in 8 languages.
I tried the grilled pork belly with lotus leaf rice, and after being aged in lotus leaves for 48 hours, the meat was incredibly tender—almost melt-in-your-mouth.
The signature lotus leaf rice, steamed with ingredients like dates and ginkgo nuts, makes for a nutritious meal. For homemade-style dishes with fresh Jecheon ingredients, this spot is worth a visit!
5. Buseongdang (부성당)
Address: 47, Yongducheon-ro, Jecheon-si, Chungbuk, 1st floor
Hours: 9:00 AM ~ 10:00 PM
Anyone else have a separate stomach for dessert? Head over to this popular bakery run by a certified pastry chef, offering breads made with French flour and premium ingredients. Despite the bad weather when I visited, locals and tourists were lining up!
With a skilled pastry chef trained in France, this bakery offers a wide variety—from traditional French pastries to Korean fusion breads, making it fun to choose and try. All bread is kneaded fresh at dawn and only sold the same day.
I tried the strawberry kaymak cake and turtle melon bread—the melt-in-your-mouth cream with the crispy outside and chewy inside was amazing. They were so good that I went back before leaving Jecheon to stock up on more!
Here’s a tip: you can get a 5% discount at Buseongdang by showing the Jecheon Digital Tourism Residency Card! I’d recommend getting it before your visit!

6. Jecheon Sand (제천샌드)
Address: 10-1, 1st Floor, Pungyang-ro 13-gil, Jecheon-si, Chungbuk
Hours: Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri, Sat 10:00~19:00, Sun 9:00~18:00 (Closed on Wednesday)
Lately, everyone visiting Jecheon seems to bring back this must-buy souvenir, so I decided to check it out too—'Jecheon Sand,' a hot item on Korean social media! These sandwich cookies are made with Jecheon’s local specialties and are designed to resemble the small islands of Uirimji, a popular tourist spot.
These cookies are filled with cream and handmade jam made from Korean apples and peaches, giving them a natural, not-too-sweet flavor. Made with French gourmet butter, they have a rich, soft taste that everyone can enjoy.
Each cookie is individually wrapped, making them the perfect souvenir! Share Jecheon Sand cookies with friends and let them enjoy a taste of Jecheon, too.
7. Koffee Kiho (커피 기호)
Address: 25 Doksun-ro 21-gil, Jecheon-si, Chungbuk Coffee Giho
Hours: 10:00~21:00 (20:30 Last Order)
Let me introduce a cozy new cafe that opened last year near Jecheon Station! This small spot features a charming wood-toned interior, and through its large windows, you get a unique view of a cornfield and a temple.
I tried the corn cream latte, and the savory, sweet cream blended perfectly with the espresso for a smooth taste. They also offer light desserts and a range of non-coffee options, making it a great spot even for non-coffee drinkers.
Surrounded by nature, this cafe is perfect for quietly enjoying a coffee, and in the afternoons, you might spot some friendly cats wandering the yard. If you're looking to relax and recharge with a cup of coffee, I highly recommend Koffee Kiho!
8. Glou Glou (글루글루)
Address: 2 2-dong, Oksunbong-ro 10-gil, Susan-myeon, Jecheon-si, Chungbuk
Hours: Weekdays 11:00~18:00, Weekends 10:00~18:00 (Last order 17:50)
Glou Glou is a popular sunset spot in Jecheon! This spacious cafe near Cheongpung Lake is known for its stunning lake views and photo-worthy spots.
The cafe has two sections: the main building and an annex. For lake views, sit by the windows in the main building, while the annex offers perfect photo spots for capturing memorable shots. I opted for the main building to take in the lake view.
I tried the signature 'Gongguri Latte,' along with an affogato and some desserts. The black sesame had a nutty, rich flavor with a unique texture. The cake was sweet and delicious, but since the dessert menu changes monthly, it’s worth checking what’s available before you go!
Outside the cafe, there’s a giant chair photo zone that’s become a signature spot for Glou Glou. Don’t miss the chance to snap a great shot here with Cheongpung Lake in the background!
9. Cafe Neureun (카페 너른)
Address: 1684 Cheongpungho-ro, Cheongpung-myeon, Jecheon-si, Chungbuk
Hours: 10:30~19:00 (Closed on Wednesdays, Last Order: 18:30)
Lastly, let me introduce 'Cafe Neureun,' also near Cheongpung Lake. This four-story cafe with glass windows offers stunning views of the lake from any floor, making it a popular spot among Jecheon locals!
The landscaping at Cafe Neureun is truly beautiful—no surprise, as the owner is a landscaping expert! The spacious 2400-pyeong area is filled with plants, and there’s a conservatory on the right where you can stroll and explore while waiting for your drink.
Sipping the mild, low-acidity coffee with sweet bread while taking in the view made everything taste even better. The cafe is spacious and has a dedicated area for kids, making it a great spot for families to visit!
