It’s the perfect spot to see Yongchu Waterfall, the most hashtagged attraction in Jecheon, located within Uirimji—one of Jecheon’s top 10 scenic spots with a history spanning thousands of years. On days with plenty of water, Yongchu Waterfall offers stunning views, ideal for capturing memorable photos.
Subtropical Smart Greenhouse
'Subtropical Smart Greenhouse' opened in 2023 as an ecological travel destination where you can see green subtropical crops all year round. You can encounter various subtropical plants and tropical fish, which are hard to see in everyday life. The interior of the greenhouse is always maintained at 25 degrees, making it a good travel destination even during the rainy season or the middle of winter.

Our Visit
Today, I'm set to take the private taxi tour in Jecheon. I’ll arrive by express bus and meet the driver at Jecheon Express Bus Terminal, which I listed as the pickup point when booking. The day before, I received a confirmation email with the driver’s details, reservation time, and meeting location. Right on schedule, the taxi arrived for pickup!

16:20 | Move to hotel |
17:00 | Arrive at hotel and end of tour |
I planned the 5-hour itinerary in advance, but if I decide to add a restaurant or café along the way, the schedule will be adjusted flexibly.
The taxi is a mid-sized sedan that fits up to four people. The interior was clean and comfortable, making it easy to enjoy a private trip with family or friends instead of with strangers.
I booked the Healing Course (5 hours) and decided to follow the recommended route. The tour covers Jecheon’s highlights: Uirimji (Yongchu Waterfall), the relaxing Subtropical Smart Greenhouse, and the scenic Cheongpung Lake Monorail. If you’re planning to explore multiple spots within the 5 hours, it’s a good idea to have a hearty lunch beforehand.
I chose the Healing Course (5 hours) and opted to go with the recommended route, featuring Jecheon’s top spots: Uirimji (Yongchu Waterfall), the peaceful Subtropical Smart Greenhouse, and the scenic Cheongpung Lake Monorail. If you plan to explore multiple locations during the 5 hours, a filling lunch beforehand is a smart idea.
The driver accompanied us to buy the tickets, and one perk of the taxi tour is that when the driver buys admission tickets, you get a discount! Tickets normally cost 2,000 won for adults, but we entered for free thanks to the driver. He handled all the ticketing and set our meeting time and place after the tour, so everything was worry-free.
The history museum preserves Korea’s rich history and traditions, leaving a strong impression on me. The best part was the variety of interactive experiences, which kept things interesting and engaging.
You can draw and display my photo on the screen, and you can also receive this photo via email.
The smelt fishing game, recreating winter activities at Uirimji when it freezes over, was a lot of fun. Exploring the whole museum took about 25 minutes. Now, let’s head to the heart of the famous Uirimji!
Isn’t the harmony of the vibrant trees and the lake stunning in the fall? Surrounded by mountains, Jecheon City has an incredible freshness in the air. As you stroll along the lake, it feels like time stands still, and every angle offers a perfect photo backdrop.
At Uirimji Lake, you can enjoy a pedal boat ride, relaxing on a bench while taking in the expansive views! Unfortunately, it was a rainy day when I visited, so we couldn’t try it out.
As you walk along the lake, you’ll come across a glass observatory. The glass floor beneath the bridge gives you a view of the rushing water below. I walked carefully since it was a bit intimidating, but if you enjoy a thrill, stepping onto the glass in the middle is definitely exciting!
If you cross the glass observatory, you'll find a pavilion, and this is the view from there. It's really beautiful.
As you continue along the path beside the pine trees, you’ll find the trail leading to Yongchu Waterfall. The waterfall has a unique, tunnel-like shape, almost resembling a cave. Inside, water flows down through an open hole, making it an ideal spot for a memorable photo.
Wow, it's amazing to see that the place I passed by looked like that!
We’re nearing the final part of the course. Following the trail brings you to Uirimji Park and Parkland. Walking along this path felt truly refreshing—the ducks playing in the water and the lush greenery make for a peaceful experience. Exploring Uirimji typically takes 1 to 2 hours, and it took me about 1 hour and 15 minutes to look around.
It’s just a 10-minute drive from Uirimji to the Subtropical Smart Greenhouse. The driver arranged a convenient pickup spot at Uirimji, so despite the rain, I could hop in quickly and arrive smoothly.
We arrived at the Subtropical Smart Greenhouse. Since it was newly built, it was also the driver’s first visit. The greenhouse was larger and cleaner than I expected, which made me excited to go inside.
Inside the greenhouse, there’s an aquarium at the entrance with vegetables growing above it, and even the fish seemed curious as they swam by the entry. The greenhouse features subtropical plants rarely seen in Korea, and stepping in from the rain, the warmth inside felt especially welcoming.
Walking through, the air felt incredibly fresh. Despite all the plants, it wasn’t humid—the air seems to adjust automatically. It’s the perfect spot for a quick, refreshing break when you need a moment to unwind.
My favorite spot was this forest path—truly incredible, right? It was amazing to find a space like this indoors. I even captured a perfect photo here!
There were seating areas to rest along the way, and the whole place was clean and fascinating, with plants like bananas, mangosteens, and durians—rarely seen in Korea. Scanning the QR codes on each plant provided detailed information, which was a great touch.
Exiting the smart greenhouse, there’s an agricultural education center set up beautifully like an outdoor garden. We enjoyed checking out the various stuffed insects on display. It took me about 40 minutes to explore the Subtropical Smart Greenhouse.
Now, let’s head to the final stop, Cheongpung Lake Tourist Monorail, about 45 minutes from the greenhouse. The driver, noticing I might be hungry, kindly offered me some snacks, making the trip even more enjoyable as we chatted about Jecheon. He suggested riding the monorail up and taking the cable car down, so we decided to try it that way!
One major advantage of a taxi tour is not having to worry about parking fees or finding a parking spot. The driver will wait at the designated location until we return from exploring.
We’ve finally arrived at the tourist monorail station! I’m excited, and a little nervous, about heading up on the monorail.
I'll show you the schedule, and then you can board the monorail that looks like that. The monorail is open on both sides, so it seems like it would be really great for enjoying the scenery.
Buckle up, and off we go! The train has finally departed, winding through the mountains—a unique experience that feels like an adventure. The fresh mountain air makes it even better.
It goes electrically, but it almost feels like I'm driving it myself. Try taking a selfie on the monorail!
After getting off the monorail, you can head up to the observatory. It took just 25 minutes to reach the observatory by following the arrows after taking the cable car!
The observatory spans three spacious floors, with amenities like a convenience store and a café. As you move from the 1st to the 3rd floor, there are photo zones and beautiful views to enjoy along the way.
The observatory is heart-shaped—so cute, right? It’s a perfect spot to visit with family or a partner and make special memories together.
From the top, you get a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains in all their shapes and directions—it’s incredibly refreshing. We decided to take the cable car for the descent, so let’s hop on and enjoy the ride down!
The cable car offers two options: regular and crystal, with the crystal featuring a transparent floor for an extra thrill. If you’re up for an adventure, try the Crystal Cable Car! It’s 5,000 won more than the regular one.
Board slowly and carefully, following the staff’s instructions. The cabin is spacious, fitting up to 10 people comfortably. With the doors closing automatically, all you need to do is sit back and enjoy the ride. I felt a mix of nerves and excitement!
Wow, the view from the cable car is amazing! The mountain-surrounded village below looks tiny and picturesque. The scenery is so stunning that every photo comes out beautifully. Experiencing both the monorail and cable car was truly satisfying, and I highly recommend trying both ways for the full experience!
After coming down from the cable car, our driver was waiting in the nearby parking lot, making it easy to hop in the taxi right away without a long walk.
We said goodbye to our driver, who made the 5-hour journey comfortable and enjoyable with his friendly smile. The Jecheon Sightseeing Taxi Tour was incredibly convenient—I could leave my luggage in the taxi and customize the route to suit my plans. Thanks to the driver’s helpful explanations and recommendations, we handled any unexpected situations smoothly. If you’re looking to escape the city and enjoy Korea’s beautiful natural scenery, I highly recommend the Jecheon Tourist Taxi Tour!
