Our Visit
Today, I visited Yeoungwan, a traditional Korean restaurant in Yeouido, a hub for shopping and business in Korea. Just a 9-minute walk from The Hyundai Seoul, it's a convenient spot to stop by during your trip.
The interior of the store is clean and neat with wood tones, with an elegant mood.
Yeoungwan has it all, from spacious open seating to cozy private dining rooms. With large, comfortable sofas, even elderly guests can relax and enjoy their meal. It’s a perfect spot for family gatherings or group dinners.
Yeoungwan offers thoughtful touches like coat hangers and phone chargers, making your dining experience even more comfortable. Today, I tried the Seasoned Ribs Full Course, Hanwoo Sirloin Full Course, Hanwoo Samhap Full Course, Signature Yeoungwan Full Course, and Grilled Oxtail.
Creatrip Benefit: 1++ Hanwoo Taco (2pcs)
And I reserved a voucher on Creatrip and received 2 pieces of free 1++ Hanwoo Tacos!
The Hanwoo beef, paired with fresh vegetables and flavorful sauces, offers a variety of tastes. It's a great appetizer before the main course arrives. The tacos were so delicious, I almost ordered more!
Grilled Oxtail
The Grilled Oxtail at Yeoungwan is packed with flavor, thanks to their special seasoning that perfectly balances umami and sweetness. It's topped with roasted garlic and scallions, making each bite even more delicious.
The roasted oxtail at Yeoungwan is tender and chewy, with no toughness at all. It's rich in collagen, giving it a satisfying, bouncy texture. The deep, savory umami flavor of the oxtail really stands out in every bite.
The Signature Yeoungwan Full Course is perfect for groups of three or more. If you're dining with two or more people, you can also choose from the Seasoned Ribs Full Course, Hanwoo Sirloin Full Course, or Hanwoo Samhap Full Course.
All Full Courses at Yeoungwan come with a basic set that includes seasonal porridge, dongchimi, myeongranjeot, soft tofu, namul, two types of special salad, and appetizers like seasoned crab, tangpyeongchae, seasonal pancakes, and soup. These essential side dishes, from warm porridge to refreshing dongchimi and savory soft tofu, add a rich variety of flavors to your meal.
The Full Course also includes two special salads made with fresh, healthy vegetables, giving your meal a light and refreshing start. The vegetables were crisp, and the dressing added a delicious touch.
The appetizers, like tangpyeongchae, seasonal pancakes, seasonal soup, and the must-try seasoned crab, offer a rich and flavorful experience. The seasonal dish had a perfect crispy texture, and I’m excited to try the marinated crab with rice. With just these basic components, you can really get a taste of a true Korean full-course meal!
Seasoned Ribs Full Course
The first Full Course on offer is the Seasoned Ribs Full Course, which features marinated grilled ribs. It's a set menu that lets you enjoy a variety of Korean dishes alongside the flavorful grilled ribs.
The Seasoned Ribs are served with perfectly grilled scallions and mushrooms. The sweet marinade infuses the tender short ribs, delivering the classic taste of Korean marinated ribs. The meat was incredibly soft with no tough texture at all.
You can enjoy a much richer flavor by adding the provided green onions and mushrooms according to your preference!
Hanwoo Sirloin Full Course
Next up was the Hanwoo Sirloin Full Course. This meal features seafood ceviche and 1++ Korean beef sirloin steak as part of the basic setup. It offers a rich selection of delicious Korean dishes along with premium quality beef.
The seafood ceviche is a refreshing mix of tender octopus and crisp vegetables, perfect for cleansing your palate before the main meat course. The cold dish combines the soft octopus with a tangy kick, leaving you with a fresh and vibrant taste.
At Yeoungwan, we use 1++ quality Korean beef for our sirloin steak, known for its excellent marbling and rich, deep flavor. The steak is incredibly tender, offering a luxurious texture with each bite, letting you fully enjoy the premium taste of Korean beef.
Hanwoo Samhap Full Course
The Hanwoo Samhap Full Course is a health-boosting meal featuring scallops, black mushrooms, and grilled Hanwoo beef. It also includes a refreshing seafood ceviche to whet your appetite and juicy Korean beef tartare, making the menu wonderfully rich and satisfying.
The Hanwoo Samhap Full Course offers a perfect trio of 1++ grade Korean beef sirloin, fragrant black mushrooms, and tender scallops. You can also enjoy well-roasted tomatoes and garlic, letting you mix and match flavors to suit your taste.
When you pair the sirloin steak with black mushrooms, the tenderness of the meat and the chewiness of the mushrooms create a delightful texture combination. The scallops are soft and sweet, adding a burst of moisture with each bite. I highly recommend grilling the Samhap on a hot plate for the best experience.
I started by lightly grilling the Samhap, but I decided to sear it more on the oil-soaked pan for extra flavor. Just a quick grill on each side brings out the juiciness and moisture! Since it's sirloin, a light grill is all you need. As the name Samhap suggests, try the trio of flavors together, or mix and match to find your favorite combination.
You can also enjoy Korean beef tartare in various combinations. I'll try it with the gomtang, radish sprouts, sweet pear, and sesame oil sauce.
When you break the egg yolk on top of the yukhoe and mix it with the meat, it creates a rich, savory flavor. Pairing the yukhoe with sea mustard adds a clean taste with a hint of the ocean. For a sweet finish, dip it lightly in the oil sauce.
Signature Yeoungwan Full Course
The premium dining experience at Yeoungwan, called the Signature Yeoungwan Feast, includes seafood ceviche, a trio of scallops, black mushrooms, Korean beef, Hanwoo flower sashimi, and barley grilled fish, along with the basic set. Don’t miss the chance to try the Hanwoo flower sashimi and barley grilled croaker, unique to this menu!
The Korean beef flower sashimi is sprinkled with gold powder, boasting a luxurious appearance. The meat is so tender and fresh that it seems to melt in your mouth.
Try placing the Hanwoo sashimi on the seaweed, then add radish sprouts and gochujang sauce. The spicy and sweet gochujang sauce harmonizes with the savory taste of Korean beef and enhances its umami flavor.
The barley grilled fish at Yeoungwan is savory and packed with rich flavor, making it the perfect side dish that could easily have you finishing two bowls of rice. The croaker is moist and tender, offering a soft texture and excellent taste. Be sure to try it with some rice for the full experience!
All meals at Yeoungwan come with a rice set, offering a choice of miso soup or dessert porridge, along with a dessert. Today, I opted for the Musotbap set meal. Let me share how to enjoy this delicious pot rice at Yeoungwan.
Add the side dishes provided with the rice into the pot and adjust the seasoning sauce to your taste.
After mixing the side dishes with rice, transfer them to a rice bowl. You can fully enjoy the flavor and texture when you eat it in the form of bibimbap.
I enjoyed the marinated crab with the pot-cooked rice. The crab was packed with juicy meat, and the flavorful seasoning paired perfectly with the rice for a satisfying meal.
After finishing the rice, I asked the staff for some hot water, poured it into the pot, and let it sit for a bit with the lid closed. I ended the meal on a warm note, enjoying the crispy and comforting nurungji.
The food at Yeoungwan is not too spicy and has a clean, balanced flavor, perfect for a hearty meal. If you're looking to experience a traditional Korean feast, I highly recommend visiting Yeoungwan in Yeouido!
