Our Visit

Today, I visited 'MIGONGBANG Hongdae Main Branch' located a 3-minute walk from Hongik Univ. Station.

The interior is very clean and spacious, with a lot of seats.

First, I tasted the radish kimchi and pickled side dishes. They are are all homemade, so it was quite delicious with a sweet and sour taste.

We've ordered the 'Barbecue Octopus Pork Belly' and 'Fried Octopus Pork Belly'. signature menu is big enough for sharing between 2 people. Plus, if you show your Creatrip coupon, you can get a free bowl of buckwheat noodles.

Barbecue Octopus Pork Belly

'Barbecue Octopus Pork Belly' is a menu prepared with well-cut barbecue, octopus, and deodeok. Barbecue is cooked at 140 degrees for 3 hours to remove the oil, but it remains moist and has a soft texture.

The chef recommended that we definitely try the deodeok, which is expensive but good for the body. The chef also kindly introduced all the menu items, so it was nice to be able to enjoy eating and understand the cooking process!

Fried pork belly

'Fried Pork Belly' was also beautifully plated. It requires a cooking process of grilling the meat once, seasoning it, boiling it, and then draining the oil. Well-ripened garlic, various vegetables to go well with, wasabi, and the special sauce of 'MIGONGBANG Hongdae Main Branch' are also provided together.

'Barbecue Octopus Pork Belly' is full of spicy smoky flavors.

Enjoy dipping perfectly cooked barbecue in barbecue sauce. If you want some spiciness, you can also eat it with wasabi. Baked at 140 degrees for 3 hours, it seems that the oil has really drained out, but the moisture is still being maintained! Special sauce provided together is so flavorful when eaten with tong samgyeopsal that you'll be curious about the recipe.

I also tried it with the white kimchi provided together. White kimchi firmly captures the greasiness of pork belly and makes the food more light and refreshing. 

Spicy octopus is very chewy. The seasoning is very well absorbed into the octopus, so the more you chew, the tastier it gets. 

If deodeok is cooked incorrectly, it can have a strong bitter taste, but the deodeok in this dish doesn't have much bitterness. Deodeok (rice cake) tastes really delicious even when eaten individually.

Next, I will try the 'Fried Pork Belly'.

I recommend eating it in one bite with various vegetables provided. Crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside, it's the ultimate taste! 

This time, I tried adding wasabi to the barbecue. Adding wasabi to it will allow you to experience a whole new flavor!

Well-cooked garlic didn't have a distinct piercing garlic smell, but it seemed to have a subtle garlic scent.

Now finally I will try 'Bongpyeong cold noodles with perilla oil'. There is sauce on the bottom of the buckwheat noodle bowl, so you have to mix it well.

It was not greasy because the sesame oil was put in properly and it was full of nuttiness, so it was very delicious.
