Our Visit

Today I visited Jukto, one of the top 3 samgyeopsal restaurants in Seoul located in Yongsan. Jukto means red clay in Korean. This clay is rich in iron and has excellent effects in promoting fermentation by absorbing moisture well. A restaurant that ferments meat in a pottery made with these red clay to provide a unique flavor.

Upon entering the restaurant with a beautiful exterior, you can see shelves displaying a variety of traditional Korean alcoholic beverages.

On one wall, you could see the autograph of RM from BTS. There is a HYBE building nearby where BTS fans can have a special visiting experience.

Jukto has a total of 3 floors. First floor has a large grill and bar tables ready. The staff will grill the meat for you, so you can comfortably enjoy delicious meat.

2nd floor has a large window, giving a feeling of openness. When you visit during the day, you can dine in a bright atmosphere with sunlight.

There are quite a few tables in the basement, and various traditional pottery are displayed, giving you the feeling of being in a cellar for alcohol and dishes or a museum. Onggi is a unique food storage container that has been used by Korean ancestors since ancient times. Koreans have used onggi to ferment and store jeot, alcohol, kimchi, and jang.

Chairs available on the 1st and 2nd basement floors are designed to open and store belongings.

Using the advantages of Onggi, a grill plate is created, making the material luxurious and enhancing the taste of the meat even more.

The staff will take the fermented meat directly from the jar, par-grill it, and then serve it.

At times, you can also watch a spectacular fire show. As the strong firepower clears the field, the taste doubles up.

The grilled meat has been set on the table. In Jukto, various types of traditional Korean liquor are also sold. Traditional liquor is also fermented in onggi, so if you want to experience true Korean alcohol, I recommend trying it with a meal!

The meat that has been marinated can be grilled again on the grill provided on the table before eating. Already been pre-cooked so you don't have to wait long to eat. The editor ordered one plate of marinated pork belly. When coming with two people, you can order two plates of marinated pork belly or one plate of marinated pork belly + two servings of pork neck to eat satisfactorily.

Side dishes that can be eaten with meat are also really delicious.

Onion Pickle

Baek Kimchi

Perilla Leaf Garlic Pickle

Seasoned Wild Aster Salad

These side dishes also goes really well with the grilled meat.

Raw Cheongeojat

Baekga-ja

Also, dried fish roe and pine nuts are prepared.

When you take out the roe from the mackerel appropriately and eat it with the meat, you can taste a different flavor.

We also recommend trying a combination where you put sesame leaf salad and white kimchi on top of a piece of meat and eat it in one bite.

Another side dish, green onion kimchi, can be placed on the grill and cooked with meat to enhance the flavor even more.

Tofu Stew

You can also enjoy a tofu stew along with the grilled meat.

Buckwheat Noodles

Another recommended menu is buckwheat noodles which has a strong sesame oil scent and can be enjoyed with a cold broth for a refreshing taste. In addition to this, there are various menus such as Saeng Bibim Memil Myeon and spicy tofu hot pot, so you can choose according to your preference.

Jeotbap

Finally, it's jjotbap (fried rice) called Korean dessert. Fried rice is similar in taste to regular kimchi fried rice and is good to eat as a last course. The staff directly fried it on the grill and shaped it into a heart, which was nice.

Yongsan Station is a convenient area with a large-scale complex shopping mall, so it's a good area to visit. If you want to taste premium pork belly with a different flavor near Yongsan Station, we highly recommend Jukto!
