    Hanbok Closet | Our Visit

Today I visited Hanbok Closet near Anguk Station and Gyeongbokgung.

Hanbok Closet is a private rental service offering traditional Hanbok and a variety of Hanbok that showcase Korea's unique beauty.

In front of Hanbok Closet is the Yoon Bo-seon House, a Korean cultural heritage site.

Yun Boseon House is a residence built during the Joseon Dynasty, and it has a pretty exterior.

In front of Hanbok Closet, the alley where traditional and modern Korean architectural styles blend is very pretty.

Enter the building and go down to basement level 1, where you’ll see a nicely decorated hallway and entrance.

Hanbok Closet has a studio inside the shop.

Maybe that's why there are studio photos displayed in front of the entrance showing a variety of people.

Now let's go inside the store!

When you enter the shop and walk to the interior on the right, you'll find many Hanbok displayed.

There are beautiful colored Hanbok, traditional shoes, and a wide variety of accessories worn with Hanbok.

Hanbok Closet's Hanbok are almost brand new. I like that the Hanbok are in very clean condition.

I confirmed the reservation with the staff and then left my luggage in the locker.

Each locker has a lock so you can store your belongings with peace of mind, without worrying about losing them.

Now I’ll pick the Hanbok I’ll be wearing today!

Hanbok Closet operates a private system that cares for one group at a time, rather than serving many customers simultaneously.

That way, you don’t have to worry about someone else renting the pretty Hanbok you wanted before you, so you’ll always be able to choose the one you like.

Since this package includes a photoshoot, they also recommend Hanbok that match the shoot’s concept and images.

Hanbok Closet's Hanbok are mostly close to traditional Hanbok styles. The quality is high, with straight lines and curves blending to create a look that's elegant and ornate.

There are a variety of jeogori and skirts in colors ranging from pastels to bold shades, so you can choose according to your taste.

Sharing a brief bit of information about Hanbok, the jeogori is the top part of the Hanbok and its shorter length makes the upper body appear smaller.

The Hanbok skirt wraps around the waist and makes the lower body look fuller to create balance.

There are also skirts in gradient colors and skirts with patterns.

You can freely choose and wear any style you like!

They offer a variety of men's Hanbok and adorable children's Hanbok!

If you come with a partner or family, it would look lovely if everyone coordinated their Hanbok colors.

My friend and I even helped each other pick which Hanbok suited us best.

In front of a large full-length mirror, I tried on different jeogori and skirts to find the Hanbok that suited me best.

A Hanbok specialist stylist even recommended Hanboks that suited me.

On the dressing table there are various hair ornaments like daenggi and binyeo that go with Hanbok, and Norigae.

Norigae is an accessory worn by women, attached to the goreum of a Hanbok jeogori or to the waistband of a skirt.

I picked a Norigae that matches the Hanbok I chose today.

When changing outfits, the first thing we put on is the under-skirt. It’s a jar-style under-skirt rather than a ring petticoat, so the skirt keeps a natural fullness instead of an artificial poof.

After that, a staff member will help you put on the skirt, jeogori, and Norigae.

Hanbok can be hard to put on by yourself, so with someone helping you from the side, you can put it on easily.

Our editor chose a traditional Hanbok with a light lavender jeogori and a very pale pink chima.

After changing into your outfit, it’s time for hair styling.

For the Hanbok I chose, our editor will do a daenggi hairstyle today.

Daenggi meori is a traditional hairstyle where the hair is braided into three strands and tied with a daenggi, symbolizing an unmarried woman.

Basic daenggi hairstyle and low bun are provided free, for binyeo-style hair an additional fee applies.

We picked danggi (traditional braided ribbon) to match our tastes.

Because the stylist had done so much hair styling before, the process went quickly.

The hair was carefully braided, finished with a daenggi tied at the ends, and topped with ornate hair accessories.

This shows the finished look with the top-knot hairstyle!

The neatly tied top-knot hairstyle really enhances the Hanbok's elegant mood.

Wearing a Hanbok gives off a graceful vibe, so it’s very important to have a clean, neat hairstyle that matches it.

My friend is getting a binyeo hairpin hairstyle today.

A binyeo is a hair ornament that married women use to secure a chignon so it doesn’t come undone.

Hanbok Closet has a variety of binyeo in luxurious jade, pink, yellow, and other colors and designs.

The stylist braided my hair and quickly finished a binyeo hairstyle.

I also placed a gorgeous, decorative hairpin around the binyeo-style hair.

This is the finished look with the binyeo hairpiece in place!

Doesn't it feel full of luxurious atmosphere?

If you want a neat updo that shows off a luxurious look, try a binyeo hairstyle!

In winter, pairing warm, fluffy fur accessories will make your look even cuter!

Now it’s time to pick the ornate accessories that go well with your Hanbok!

Danggi, hair flowers, Norigae, bags, shoes, and gat are accessories you can use free of charge.

Wearing an okbanshi ring adds a lovely focal point to a beautiful Hanbok.

Finally, wearing traditional Korean shoes completes the Hanbok outfit.

Tada! All Hanbok outfits are ready.

Adding a bag makes your Hanbok styling stand out even more.

The soft color combinations and lines unique to traditional Hanbok are so beautiful.

The clothing is high quality, so it doesn’t feel rough or irritating when it touches your skin.

I wanted to wear Hanbok and take photos together, and I was surprised to find a studio inside Hanbok Closet.

It seems Hanbok Closet is almost the only place that operates both Hanbok rentals and a studio at the same time!

Take cozy photos alone, with your partner, or with friends.

After getting ready, we went outside for the snap photoshoot.

Wearing a Hanbok and having an outdoor snap photoshoot lets you keep a special experience in Korea as a wonderful memory.

Today's shoot took place at Gyeongbokgung. The photo location may change depending on the situation.

It was really hard to pose on my own, but the photographer paid attention to every detail of my poses and expressions, so I’m glad.

We moved around following the photographer's guidance and shot at a variety of locations.

The photographer knows the best spots with just the right sunlight and beautiful scenery, so you can get stunning photos of a lifetime.

Shooting outdoors really makes the soft colors of the Hanbok stand out!

When walking around Gyeongbokgung, many people wear fusion Hanbok, but I definitely felt that traditional Hanbok better showcases the garment's neatness and gentle elegance.

If you want to fully experience Korea's traditions, we recommend wearing traditional Hanbok!

I took photos with a friend, doing a friendship concept.

They smiled at each other, held hands as they walked, and posed naturally facing the camera with relaxed expressions.

We even did a shoot holding a horongbul (traditional Korean lantern).

We took photos in a variety of compositions and poses like this.

I’m really excited to see how the photos turn out!!

I received the retouched photos in about a week! They say they generally provide the retouched images within two weeks after selection.

They captured the beautiful scenery, the graceful lines of the Hanbok, and the photo’s colors perfectly, without missing a single detail.

Thanks to Hanbok Closet’s luxurious Hanbok, I look elegant and refined!

If you want to wear a Hanbok that captures the unique spirit of Korea and create lasting memories with photos, we recommend Hanbok Closet located near Anguk Station and Gyeongbokgung!
