Our Visit

Today I visited an eel cuisine specialty restaurant called 'Dolpanjang,' located about 2 minutes away from Yongsan, Samgakji Station Exit 4. The Dolpanjang is a great place to eat natural sea eels from Tongyeong, a southern region of Korea. The store of Dolpanjang is said to have been converted from a house.

Room type interior can accommodate up to 12 people.

2nd floor also has a room structure similar to the 1st floor. The Dolpanjang is a restaurant that is very popular even locally, so be sure to make a reservation and visit through Creatrip!

You can store your personal belongings and outerwear so that food odors do not stick to your clothes! Eel goes well with fresh lettuce, sesame salt, wasabi, tartar sauce, washed aged kimchi, young radish kimchi, bellflower root salad, and perilla leaf pickles as side dishes.

We've ordered seasoned eel, salted eel, eel soy sauce rice, and non-alcoholic highball first. Eels are all grilled on a stone plate, so there is a little waiting time.

At the meantime, eel sushi is served! When you book with Creatrip, you can receive one eel sushi per person!

Salt Grilled Eel

The menu is made with fresh wild eels directly delivered from the sea in Tongyeong, South Korea. Under the eel, enoki mushrooms and onions are laid, and chives are also available on the side, so you can enjoy them together deliciously.

Hoengseong Deodeok Gui

With salt grilled eel, I decided to order additional Hoengseong Deodeok Gui, which I think will go well together.

The eels in the stone plate are not very smelly and not greasy. Before fully enjoying eels, try dipping the first bite of grilled eel in salt!

Also try eating it with perilla leaf pickles and bellflower root salad next. These side dishes will enhance the savory taste of the eel.

After that, enjoy the eel according to your taste, eat it with fresh kimchi, dip it in tartar sauce, bake it with vegetables on a hot plate, and try it with additional order of grilled deodeok. Find your own combination and try it.

Seasoned Grilled Eel

The seasoning is so addictive that I keep eating it. If you want to make the seasoning a little milder and reduce the spiciness, adding cheese toppings may be a good idea!

We ate it with chives which seemed to neutralize the spicy taste.

Non-alcoholic Highball

We've ordered a non-alcoholic highball; but there is also a highball with alcohol! Refreshing and sweet, it was delicious, and even people who are not good at drinking alcohol seem to be able to enjoy it.

Eel Soy Sauce Rice Bowl

A healthy and delicious eel soy sauce rice bowl that makes you feel full and comfortable. It is so delicious that we ate all of it without leaving a single drop!

Mixed Buckwheat Noodles

We've also ordered mixed buckwheat noodles which contains Korean garlic.

Pour the cold noodle broth provided separately into the mixed buckwheat noodles. And mix the broth, ingredients, and noodles well before eating.

Spicy Eel Soup

When eating seafood in Korea, locals always finish with a spicy soup called 매운탕! Inside there are plenty of eels, squid, tofu, eggs, vegetables, etc.

Ramen

Also add ramen noodles to spicy eel soup, and when the noodles are cooked to your liking, just scoop up the ingredients and broth together to eat.

The interior of the store was clean, very close to the station, and the staff were friendly. Also, the quality of the eel is very high, and it seems to be a true gourmet restaurant that guarantees taste! If you want to enjoy sea eel in Korea, we highly recommend 'Dolpanjang' in Yongsan Samgakji!
