Our Visit

Today, I visited Passion Is Also Jjukkumi located near Yongsan Namyeong Station. 

You could see that a catch table was installed as befitting a famous restaurant. While waiting, eating at a famous restaurant makes me even more excited!

The drawing of the squid character was fun, fitting the title of the squid restaurant. 

Passion Is Also Jjukkumi is a place that has transformed an old store passed down from generation to generation into an octopus house. So when I entered the store, I immediately felt a retro atmosphere. 

Small items are also made up of items that go well with a retro atmosphere. Within the store, old songs are playing, giving me a feeling as if I were eating squid somewhere in Seoul in the 1980s-1990s!

Inside, there is a self-bar available so you can use it comfortably anytime. At the self-bar, you can refill cheonsachae, kongnamul, perilla leaves, dongchimi, etc.

Today's menu includes the signature dishes of Passion Is Also Jjukkumi, which are grilled octopus on charcoal grill and grilled octopus on iron plate, along with cheese steamed egg. They set up self-service with bean sprouts, perilla leaves, and various sauces on the side, and I separately ordered a fish roe. Basic side dishes and yogurt to enhance the spicy taste were also prepared.

Octopus is grilled outside with charcoal fire for about 2 minutes to add a smoky flavor.

Ingredients such as squid and onions are being grilled to perfection over charcoal. Spicy octopus filled with fragrant flavors makes me even more excited to taste it!

Grilled chewy and delicious squid and water parsley set together, and the initial process is complete. With the addition of fragrant watercress, it seems like it would be really delicious.

When you return to your seat and set up the spicy seasoning, you can eat grilled webfoot octopus. When the iron plate octopus and pork belly are ready, let's eat together!

Iron plate squid and pork belly is a menu with squid and pork belly. Crunchy texture and moisture will neutralize the spiciness, so please stir-fry the bean sprouts together. When you request less spicy when ordering, they will prepare it less spicy, so you don't have to worry even if you're not good at eating spicy food.

The specialty of passion squid is minari. Fragrant and nutty water parsley combined with spicy webfoot octopus makes me look forward to something different!

In the Signature Set, Udon noodles are also included, so please add the Udon noodles after the ingredients are partially cooked. All the processes are done by the staff, so it's convenient. Jjukkumi seasoning-infused chewy udon noodles make me want to try them right away.

The signature menu includes the 'Steamed Egg' menu, and for an additional fee, you can upgrade to 'Cheese Steamed Egg'. The photo is of Cheese Steamed Egg, and as the name suggests, it is filled with cheese as if it were going to explode. Smooth and savory steamed egg with spicy and sweet stir-fried octopus is a masterpiece.

This time I'll try putting angelica and smelt roe on perilla leaves and eating. Salmon roe is not included as a standard option but can be ordered as an additional menu item. With popping flying fish roe, it tastes even better, so I recommend it!

The delicious combination that the staff told me about is putting cheongachae and flying fish roe on perilla leaves and eating it. Cheonsache is a combination of sweet and savory seasonings like mayonnaise and sugar, with a crunchy texture that goes well with jjukkumi. Above that, adding popping fish roe on top and eating it, you will immediately understand why this combination is recommended!

This time, I'll dip it in the handmade tartar sauce made directly from Jjukkumi at Passiondoc. Tartar sauce with ingredients such as mayonnaise, onions, and lemon juice is generously dipped in, adding a savory and refreshing flavor that goes well with the chewy texture of squid. It is a sauce suitable for capturing spicy flavors.

Grilled octopus is dipped in oil sauce and eaten. Flavorful grilled webfoot octopus dipped in savory and nutty oil sauce, when dipped and eaten, you can fully feel the taste filling your mouth! Here, adding some watercress will give you an even richer flavor.

This time, I tried dipping it in the seasoning sauce that is provided as a basic for grilled webfoot octopus. Spicy-sweet sauce and the combination of chewy squid gives a unique taste. You can enjoy the passion of jjukkumi with various sauces and combinations, so there is no room to get bored!

When you've eaten most of it, you can't leave out fried rice at the end, Grill the leftover small octopus from eating grilled octopus and pork belly, chop it finely, and stir-fry it with seasoning sauce. Fried rice is also made by the staff, so you just have to wait until the fried rice is ready.

Fried rice stuck on an iron plate is delicious on its own, but to make it even more delicious, we added cheese. Sprinkle plenty of snowflake cheese on top of fried rice, then apply heat with a torch so that the cheese melts even better. After eating fried rice mixed with various ingredients, I feel like I've just had a delicious meal. If you want to taste delicious webfoot octopus with a retro atmosphere, we highly recommend 'Passion Is Also Jjukkumi'!
