In South Korea, March marks the transition to spring. The weather isn't freezing, but it's not warm either—creating a cool and comfortable climate. This temperature is typical for Koreans, but what about travelers? Is 10 degrees Celsius (50 degrees Fahrenheit) in March considered cold? How should you dress? In simple terms, South Korea is saying goodbye to winter and getting ready to welcome spring as it enters March.

Basically, after March, South Korea will get warmer, and temperatures below 0 degrees will no longer be common. The highest temperatures may reach 15 degrees or even 20 degrees, providing a comfortable weather, just be aware of the large temperature difference between day and night.

Additionally, at the end of March, South Korea has almost completed the change of seasons, with cherry blossoms blooming gradually from south to north, officially declaring the arrival of spring.

From the chart, it's clear that historically, Seoul's temperatures in March, particularly before March 15th, can dip to 0 degrees Celsius (32 degrees Fahrenheit) or lower. However, during the day, the highs are comfortably cool, ranging from 15 to 20 degrees Celsius (59 to 68 degrees Fahrenheit).

Starting in late March, the minimum temperatures generally stay above 0 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperatures can reach up to 20 degrees Celsius.

Therefore, the temperature in Seoul in March may have a difference of at least 15 degrees between day and night, so be mindful of the cool mornings and evenings, and make sure to stay warm when out all day.

In addition, cherry blossoms in Seoul will gradually bloom at the end of March, until the spring rain falls, which marks the end of the entire cherry blossom season in Seoul.

Highest temperature: 15 to 25 degrees

Lowest temperature: 0 degrees to 5 degrees

Busan, situated in the southern part of the country, experiences temperatures above 0 degrees Celsius from March onwards. In simple terms, Busan's seasons transition about half a month earlier than in Seoul.

As a result, cherry blossoms in Busan begin to appear in late March. If temperatures rise sooner, the blossoms may bloom earlier. From late March, the weather becomes quite pleasant, with average temperatures climbing above 10 degrees Celsius. This springtime climate is particularly favored by Koreans.

What to Wear in South Korea: March Edition
