Our Visit

Today, we've visited Confier, a Korean fine dining restaurant near Seoul Station, known for its creative presentation of seasonal Korean ingredients in French-style courses.

The entrance door, with an unseen handle shaped like a stone, builds anticipation for the interior!

The lights set a great vibe for Confier! After confirming your reservation, you'll be guided to your seat.

Confier has a calm and sophisticated ambiance. From bar tables to private rooms, there's a variety of table setups available.

The open kitchen was also a great addition, offering a performance-like experience as you could see how the food was prepared.

We've been guided to a table for 3–4 people, and the coat hangers behind the table were a thoughtful detail as they don't stand out and hinder the interior.

Their setup has black and navy tableware with a menu with details on today's course. You can also use the QR code to explore Confier's menus in English and Japanese. Our choice for today is the Korean winter dinner course, which highlights the seasonal ingredients. Overall, Confier's signiture black and navy color creates a stylish atmosphere.

Also, through Creatrip reservations, you can get a free glass of wine of your choice, and it was cool that they even have vegan wine options!

Since we've visited during winter, we've tried the winter course. Keep in mind that their menu changes every season so you might be served a different menu! First, we had three delightful bite-sized amuse-bouches. The first one featured apples, goat cheese, stracciatella cheese, pistachios, dill, and shallots with a jelly-like texture. The second is premium Korean beef sirloin, shiitake mushrooms, Korean greens, and radish. The third, made with maize flour, chicken broth, parmigiano-reggiano cheese, fermented butter, and truffles, had a crispy texture and a luxurious flavor.

Moving on to appetizers, the first one featured morel mushrooms, wood ear mushrooms, tofu, pork, barley, and bok choy. The meat-filled mushrooms, the clean aroma of enoki mushroom broth, and the texture of barley created a tasteful combination.

The second one included cabbage, pine nuts, potato dumplings, anchovies, black olives, and cheese crumble. It had a rich cheese flavor without being heavy.

The last appetizer was made with duck meat, Sichuan mustard greens, Italian parsley, shallots, and red cabbage. The butter-baked duck breast, paired with a harmonious sauce of butter and shallots, created a delightful blend with the cabbage, offering a balanced taste.

The third course was a spaghettini with Jeju's special spot prawn and red prawn, complemented by minari pesto. We were recommended to enjoy it by savoring the texture and taste of noodles first before mixing everything.

Before the main course, they offer a palate cleanser with kiwi, basil, and white wine. It definitely creates a refreshing sensation in your mouth!

Basic Option

The semi-menu features a dish with flounder fish, garlic chives, mung bean sprouts, quinoa, green onion, tartar, and sage.

With Caviar Option (+30,000 KRW)

We also recommend adding caviar with an extra 30,000 KRW for a more delicious taste. The mild flounder in clear clam broth, paired with caviar, was a delicious combination!

Basic Option

With Black Truffles Option (+20,000 KRW)

For the main course, the basic option includes pork tenderloin, burdock, shepherd's purse, earth apple, pork salad, and black truffles if you like (for an extra 20,000 KRW). The pork tenderloin is charcoal-grilled, and it's best enjoyed with winter vegetables like burdock and shepherd's purse. The accompanying pork potato puree and crispy burdock also had a pleasing taste.

Upgraded Option (+40,000 KRW)

If you upgrade the menu for an extra 40,000 KRW, it features premium-grade Korean beef sirloin with beef jus, pickled radish, shiitake mushroom, red onion, horseradish, and sesame sprouts. Overall, the meat was well-seasoned and had a really delicious, juicy aroma.

After the main course, we enjoyed a light and refreshing yogurt sorbet dessert. It had a lively herb flavor with lemongrass, celery, green grapes, and rosemary crumble.

To conclude the meal, petit fours were served alongside hibiscus tea. The petit fours included raspberry and lemon myrtle-scented cookie choux and a Western-style earl grey-scented yakgwa. We were recommended to enjoy the cookie choux first and the yakgwa later.

From the amuse bouches to the petit fours, Confier's French-inspired courses with seasonal Korean ingredients were all exquisite. If you're looking for fine dining at a reasonable price in Seoul, Confier is the place to go!
