Our Visit

Today, I visited a vegan chicken specialty restaurant called 'Vampire Chicken' near Nonhyeon Station to explore the current trend of vegan cuisine. Situated just a 6-minute walk from Nonhyeon Station, it offers excellent accessibility.

Upon arrival, a sign in front of the store highlighted the chicken's unique features. The popular Korean YouTube show 'Jo Hyun-ah's Thursday Night' highly praised the establishment, drawing my attention.

Vampire Chicken, a plant-based protein chicken, boasts zero cholesterol, zero trans fat, and an impressive 29g of protein per 100g. The surprising health benefits of chicken left a lasting impression on me. Stepping inside, the ambiance gave off a foreign country vibe with its trendy interior design.

The menu featured four types of chicken: Choice Garlic Chicken, Seasoned Chicken, Hot Barbecue Chicken, and Par-Dak Chicken, all priced at 15,000 won in American dollars. Given that chicken prices often exceed 20,000 won these days, it seemed reasonably priced.

At the counter, there was information about Vampire Chicken, emphasizing that it's 100% plant-based protein, catering to those with allergies or health concerns. In a society increasingly aware of health and environmental issues, Vampire Chicken, with zero cholesterol and trans fats, emerged as an ideal choice for those pursuing both well-being and sustainability. As someone currently interested in health and environmental issues, I found it gratifying to indulge in this chicken.

Despite lacking a separate dining area, the restaurant accommodated takeout orders. Today, I ordered Choice Garlic Chicken, Fire Chicken with Green Onion, Mac and Cheese (100% plant-based), and Chili Fries (100% plant-based). Additional side menus could be added and paid for on-site.

Now, it was time to savor the chicken. If the food cooled down, the option to warm it up in the microwave was available.

Choice Garlic Chicken, complete with garlic chips inside, visually resembled regular chicken.

Drizzling garlic sauce over it, the sweet and garlicky flavor complemented the chicken well.

Vampire Chili Fry (5,000 KRW)

Next up was Vampire Chili Fry (5,000 KRW), featuring vegan ranch sauce and 100% plant-based chili fries. Abundant fries and flavorful sauce made it a delightful side menu.

Vampire Mac and Cheese (5,500 KRW)

Vampire Mac and Cheese ($5,500) offered a tangy and savory taste with vegan cheese sauce, providing a refreshing break from the heavier chicken radish menu.

Pa-dak chicken, meaning spring onion chicken, arrived with sauce and spring onions. The combination of greasy chicken, fresh green onions, and sweet-sour sauce made for a satisfying experience.

The sauce was served separately to prevent sogginess, catering to those who prefer a crisp texture.

The unique addition of crispy garlic chips enhanced the overall texture of the chicken, adding diversity to each bite.

The highlight of vegan chicken, the texture and taste, surpassed expectations. Resembling real chicken in both aspects, even non-vegans can enjoy the experience.

Vampire Chicken successfully satisfied health, environmental, and taste preferences, offering affordable yet value-packed options. The strikingly similar texture to real chicken left me eager to revisit. If you're keen on exploring the rising vegan trend in Korea, I wholeheartedly recommend Vampire Chicken!
