Our Visit
We visited More On Hair, a salon known for doing perms beautifully. More On Hair has four branches, all located in Gangnam, near Sinnonhyeon Station. We visited the main branch, which is located just 2 minutes on foot from Exit 3 of Sinnonhyeon Station, so it's very easy to get to.
More On Hair, known for its T (technique), B (branding), and C (counseloring), travels across Korea, China, and Japan to show the essence of K-beauty, Korean culture, and help people reveal their natural charm. With designers boasting over a decade of experience at each branch, they strive to bring out the unique charm in every customer.
As soon as you enter, you can feel that the interior is very clean and nice. More On Hair has the same interior at each branch, just the store configuration and interior layout are slightly different for each branch.
The combination of wood and white tones make the store feel much cleaner and more pleasant. They add a touch of elegance to the shop.
Also, there is a restroom inside so you can comfortably use the restroom for long procedures like perming or dyeing. When you visit for your reservation, you can show your reservation details to the staff. They will have you wait for the hair designer, who will go through a consultation with you. We recommend showing about three example photos of the hairstyle you want.
After the consultation, the staff will put your belongings in the locker and provide you with a robe.
Before we start with the actual procedure, you can choose what you want to drink.
After choosing your drinks, you can sit in the chair and wait for a moment.
Before starting, they trimmed my hair and tidied it up. The length remained almost the same, and I had my side bangs trimmed and also added volume as they said. Just by brushing my hair, I could feel that my head had become lighter!
After the cut, they took me to wash my hair.
After washing, the iced tea and cookies that I ordered were ready! There is a lid on top of the iced tea, so you don't have to worry about hair getting in.
I received a heat perm, so they prepared with a softening product beforehand. This process of breaks down the hair bonding structure to enhance the effectiveness of perming. After applying the perm solution, I waited for about 20 minutes to allow the perm solution to penetrate well.
There were magazines and mirrors in front, so I could see the whole process, and it was nice to be able to read magazines when I was bored.
Afterwards, they washed my hair one more time. Now all the preparation for the perm is finished.
Before perming, they had to dry my hair. They had 2 people working on me, so the process was much faster. The employees were very friendly and made the perm process enjoyable!
Once my hair was mostly dry, they proceeded with a root perm. I have a lot of hair but it is long, so due to gravity, the hair falls weakly downwards. However, a root perm restores volume.
After the root perm is finished, it's time to roll the perm.
They applied heat for about 5 to 10 minutes. During this process, if you feel that it is too hot, you can simply let a staff member know.
After the heat perm is finished, they took out the device and let it cool for about 5 minutes.
After that, the stylist unties one to check if the perm is done well. If it is ready, they'll undo the rolls!
I have slightly curly hair, so they purposely made the rolls a bit tighter for the best effect. So as soon as I took off the device, my hair was like Dionysus, and it was funny and fun!
The photo above shows when only the root perm hair is maintained and the rest is removed. At this time, they also used a hair straightener to straighten the rubber band and hair roll marks.
Then, they applied herbal medicine to neutralize it. They applied the medicine and waited for about 5 minutes.
Finally, it was time to wash my hair. It was great that they also gave me a scalp massage!
Afterwards, the employee will dry your hair, and then the hair designer will come and show you how to style your hair.
They just blow-dried my hair, but I already like it! The perm is so well done that it already looks like the final look.
This particular style is called a cloud perm. So when your hair is somewhat dry, you can roll it in the direction of the perm and apply heat. The hair care method was also easy and simple to follow, making it easy to remember. If you think you might forget, you can take a video. Lastly, the applied hair essence to make it shine!
It took about 3 hours for the cloud perm to finish. Side bangs cover a round face shape and the cloud perm adds volume to the hair! I was really satisfied with the results. We recommend getting a perm at More On Hair, where beautiful perms are done to suit each individual's image and style!
