This restaurant is Donghwagohok. We made a visit to the Jamsil Branch, located right by Seokchon Lake and Lotte World. Let's check it out!

Our Visit
The Jamsil branch of Donghwagohok is located conveniently in Lotte World Mall, which can be reached through the underground passage from Jamsil Station. There are also many shops to see at the mall and famous spots like Lotte World and Seokchon Lake nearby!
The atmosphere here is very sophisticated, so I would recommend this place to people that want to celebrate a special occasion or anniversary.
Upon arrival a staff member guided us to our room, which had a view overlooking Seokchon Lake. The scenery outside the window was absolutely stunning and the sunlight coming in made the lighting beautiful. Donghwagohok offers not only lunch courses, but also dinner courses, so you can enjoy a course according to your preference.
We ordered Dinner Course B along with two glasses of ade. The courses change slightly according to season, so our course started out with a Cold Pine Nut Porridge as an appetizer, the Marinated Banquet Short Ribs as the main menu, and finished with dessert.
The Cold Pine Nut Porridge had a smooth texture, along with a rich pine nut flavor, and it was well blended with the refreshing taste of raspberries.
The second course is a dish called Mokseokchohwa, which was plated like a work of art, with four different mini dishes arranged on this unique plate. This dish consists of a buckwheat pancake, skate tripe, a truffle short rib sandwich, and cod tart. We were instructed to eat them in that order.
Among them, the truffle short rib sandwich and cod tart were the most delicious. The cod tart was a perfect combination of cheese and fish meat.
After that, they served the Royal Fish Salad and Beef Pancakes. The beef pancake was incredibly tender and savory, without the meat being tough. You can enjoy the pancake with the sauce it comes with or dip it in the soy sauce that comes with the Royal Fish Salad as well.
If you dip the shiitake mushrooms in the Royal Fish Salad sauce and enjoy them with the meatballs, you can enjoy a deeper flavor. The sea bream was very tender, so it was even more delicious when eaten with the Beef Pancake. It really melted away in our mouths when eaten warm.
After finishing the third course, we were served the Seafood Soft Tofu Stew, which came in a cute pot. You can eat it by breaking the layer of potato on top with a spoon. I carefully cracked the crispy layer of potato, and it actually went really well with the broth as well.
The broth of the soup had a deep seafood flavor that was very enjoyable.
For the main course, we were served the Marinated Banquet Short Ribs, Seasonal Soup (Gomtang), and Donghwa Goldongmyeon all at once. The short ribs were grilled to a medium rare but served on a hot stone plate, keeping the meat warm and tender.
The short ribs were so tender and delicious that we felt like we were eating steak! It had so much flavor, I ate without realizing I was full. The short ribs come surrounded by pickled and roasted vegetables, which paired perfectly with the meat and also helped to reduce the greasiness.
The side dishes and wasabi that came with the short ribs made it even more delicious. The Donghwa Goldongmyeon, which is a cold buckwheat noodle dish, had a deep savory flavor from the sesame oil and was also great to pair with the meat.
You can enjoy the Gomtang with white rice. It had a clean broth and tender chicken meat, and was a great addition to the spread.
We also made a separate order of the beef tartare. It was super fresh and tender, with the perfect amount of seasoning. You can enjoy this with the slices of pear it comes with as well as white rice!
Lastly, we were served dessert. This is the Okseolhwa and Dasobangwa. The tart was crispy and had a deep flavor of walnut and cinnamon, and paired great with the sweet Omija tea. These dishes really showed me the beauty of Korean traditional desserts!
Finally, we finished the meal off with the Okseolhwa sherbet, which had a unique and refreshing taste.
Being able to try traditional Korean dishes like this in a course meal was really meaningful, and of course, delicious! If you want to remember your trip with a special food experience, we highly recommend Donghwagohok. The food and view were so worth it!

After going straight, take the escalator up to the 6th floor.
Go left when you see this restaurant on the 6th floor.
