Our Visit

Today, we visited the famous Bindaetteok (mung bean pancake) restaurant, Parkgane Bindaetteok 2nd Branch, located in Gwangjang Market. Parkgane Bindaetteok 2nd Branch is just a 2-minute walk from Jongno 5-ga Station, Exit 7, making it easily accessible.

At the entrance, there are various Korean pancake models and Korean food models displayed. According to Koreans, Parkgane Bindaetteok 2nd Branch is also known for its delicious Tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes)!

The staff was contiuously cooking Bindaetteok. Right next to the griddle, you can see a mountain of Bindaetteok! They spread oil around while cooking, which makes it crispy and a perfect example of 'crispy on the outside, tender on the inside.'

On the opposite side of the entrance, there are rows of mini Kimbap. When you order the mini Kimbap, it comes with a side of mustard sauce!

From the entrance, you can see how it appeared on NETFLIX and famous Korean TV shows. There are also many autographs from celebrities!

The store has three floors, and on each floor, there are black round chairs placed around tables. The lighting on the second floor resembles fireflies.

Bindaetteok and Makgeolli make a perfect combination! Koreans love to have Bindaetteok and Makgeolli especially on rainy days. That's why Parkgane Bindaetteok offers various types of Makgeolli. Even if you're not a heavy drinker, it's okay. Makgeolli has a sweet taste and relatively low alcohol content, so you can enjoy a glass or two without any worries!

When dining on the second floor, there is a dumb waiter(the machine) so the dishes come up as soon as they are made.

First, they served a basic seasoning sauce, which is onion pickled in vinegar. Onion pickled in vinegar (Yangpa Jangajji) goes well with any kinds of Jeon. You can dip any Jeon in it!

Now that all the dishes are served, the steam rising from the freshly cooked pancakes is making them look even more delicious. Shall we give them a try?

Hanwoo Yukjeon may be a bit expensive, but it stands out from other Yukjeon dishes as it is made with Hanwoo beef, which makes it exceptionally tender. The side of green onion salad (Pajeori) that comes with it helps to balance the richness of the Yukjeon, making it even more delicious when you eat them together.

The Parkgane Bindaetteok Samhap is composed of Bindaetteok, sliced pork, and fresh oyster kimchi. Before trying the sliced pork, I recommend you taste the Bindaetteok first. It's freshly grilled, so it's crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It's delicious even when dipped in the onion pickled in vinegar.

We also recommend you wrapping the Bindaetteok, sliced pork, and fresh oyster kimchi together and eat them in one bite. The crispy mung bean pancake, chewy and tender sliced pork, and spicy yet savory fresh oyster kimchi combine to create a delightful and unique flavor.

We tried the saengseon jeon(seafood pancake) from the assorted Jeon. The saengson jeon was tender, but please be cautious as some may contain fish bones. The assorted Jeon includes almost all types of Jeon found in Korea, such as chili pepper Jeon, kimchi Jeon, pollack Jeon, meat Jeon, shrimp Jeon, buchu (chive) Jeon, meatball Jeon, and dumpling Jeon, etc. Try various kinds of Korean pancakes!

The meat wanja (Gogi Wanja) in the assorted Jeon is less crispy than the Bindaetteok but crispier and thicker than the meat Jeon. From the seafood Bindaetteok, meat Bindaetteok, seafood pancake, assorted Jeon, and even the Hanwoo beef Jeon, all of them go well with the onion pickled in vinegar. If you want to taste Korean traditional Jeon dishes, try visiting Parkgane Bindaetteok!
