Our Visit

Cafe Pepper is renowned for its extensive selection of delectable gluten-free desserts. Situated close to Lotte World and Seokchon Lake, it serves as an ideal destination to indulge in mouthwatering desserts before embarking on a fun-filled day at Lotte World.

Since it is located in Songridan-gil, an up and coming neighborhood in Seoul, there's lots to do nearby as well. We were shocked to see so many trendy cafes and restaurants nearby. The infamous Ginger Bear Pie Shop is just an 8-minute walk away!

1. The cafe space is limited so please line up down the stairs if full.
2. Parties of 3 may take longer to be seated. Parties of 2 may be seated first according to the available tables.
3. Changing tables may be difficult in regards to the other customers.
Customers getting their drinks/desserts to-go do not have to wait in line.

We heard that this cafe can get super crowded, so we went right when it opened at 11 AM. Thankfully, there wasn't a line, but there were several notice boards about queueing up in front of the entrance.

The cafe exudes an ambiance reminiscent of a cozy cottage nestled in the English countryside. Its charming and inviting atmosphere creates a sense of warmth and comfort.

Despite the notice in the front saying that the space was limited, there were quite a number of tables. They must really get a lot of customers if all of these tables are filled and even have a line outside.

Next to the counter is a display of the prettiest cakes. They have everything from classic cakes to cakes inspired by traditional Korean flavors. They also had cakes and tarts topped with seasonal fresh fruit.

Adjacent to the cakes, a tempting assortment of baked goods awaited us. The wide variety of desserts filled us with anticipation and made our mouths water. We hastily grabbed a plate and a pair of tongs, eager to explore the assortment of desserts spread before us.

Between the classic apple pie, scones, pound cake, and cookies, we had a hard time choosing what to get. We decided to settle on the Green Onion Scone (6,000 KRW) and Caramel Brownie (6,800 KRW). We also grabbed an Earl Grey Orange Cake (9,000 KRW) from the cake display.

Cafe Pepper is well-known in Korea and several Korean celebrities have paid their visit to the cafe specializing in gluten-free desserts.

K-pop idols like ITZY's Chaeryeong and SNSD's Yuri have both uploaded pictures of Cafe Pepper desserts on their social media and actors Lee Jinwook (Netflix: Sweet Home, Bulgasal: Immortal Souls) and Lee Jehoon (Taxi Driver, Signal) have been spotted at the cafe quite often. Hyunjae from THE BOYZ is also an avid fan of Cafe Pepper's gluten-free desserts.

For drinks, we decided to get two of the cafe's most popular drinks. We got the Pepper Coffee (6,000 KRW) and the Pistachio Latte (7,000 KRW). The Pistachio Latte impressed us with its outstanding flavor and creamy texture, as it was adorned with a generous layer of thick pistachio cream.

Our absolute favorite item among everything we ordered was the Green Onion scone. It was an ideal breakfast option, and we couldn't believe that it was gluten-free!

We couldn't resist indulging in a slice of cake, and our choice was the Earl Grey Orange cake. The fragrance of the tea leaves blended remarkably with the zesty, tangy orange slices, creating a delightful combination. We also got the Caramel Brownie which felt like a sin but dessert lovers would love this rich cake.

The cafe itself is incredibly Instagram-worthy, which is one of the reasons it has gained such popularity among the locals. It offers numerous spots where you can capture mirror selfies and candid shots, adding to the overall experience and charm of the place.

We highly recommend visiting Cafe Pepper during your time in Korea, especially if you're seeking gluten-free desserts, as there aren't many other options available. Despite the absence of gluten in their baked goods, the flavor is in no way compromised. You'll be pleasantly surprised by the delicious taste and quality of their offerings!
