If you want to enjoy authentic Korean food, one way is to try a traditional Korean set meal called hanjeongsik. Hanjeongsik is a traditional Korean meal that consists of various dishes including main course, soup, side dishes, and dessert, allowing you to taste a wide range of Korean cuisine. However, finding a proper Korean restaurant is not easy because all the side dishes and dishes must reflect the characteristics of Korean cuisine. Today, I will introduce the Korean-style meal restaurant 'Myeongdong Jeong' that is recognized by Koreans and located in Myeongdong.

Our Visit

Today, I visited Myeongdong Jeong, where you can enjoy proper Korean cuisine located in Myeongdong. Myeong-dong Jung-eun is a popular venue in Korea for important events such as doljanchi, sanggyeonrye, and receptions. You can tell that the place is formal.

As I entered the entrance, on the left side there were hanboks hung up in a row. They have set aside a space specifically for foreigners to experience wearing hanboks!

You can take pictures in the hallway or room before and after meals, and the advantage of Hanbok experience is that there is no time limit and you can wear it by yourself. However, please note that you cannot eat while wearing it due to concerns about contamination!

When you come in through the door and look straight ahead, you can see the room. The hallway is long and all the rooms are private, so you can have your meals in privacy. The rooms range from double rooms to rooms that can accommodate up to 32 people, and include traditional ondol rooms, table rooms, Japanese-style tatami rooms, and banquet halls. Each room is decorated with various Korean-style hats and screens, making it fun to look around while waiting for food.

*Haesin Sang-1 serving \85,000

The editor ordered four servings of Haesinjang. Dishes and side dishes kept coming out one by one, and there were so many that we were afraid we would run out of space on the table. 'Sangdari hwi-eojinda' is the phrase used in this case!

*Steamed Flower Crab

*Rainbow shrimp steamed

*Munoe Sukhoe

*Jellyfish cold salad

*Royal Mixed Noodles

*Seasonal Salad

*Gujulpan

*SamSaekJeon

*Yukhoe

*Salmon Steak

*Bulgogi

*Shrimp Tempura

*Rainbow Sweet Potato Mochi

*Doenjang Jjigae

*Tteok (Dessert)

*Messel Tea (Dessert)

Additional appetizers include pumpkin porridge, and a variety of side dishes and rice to complete the Haesin Sang. In fact, the editor didn't eat rice because he was busy enjoying the unique flavors of Korean side dishes and cooking. We recommend experiencing the traditional flavors of Korean cuisine rather than just eating rice and side dishes together from the beginning!

Yukhoe (raw beef tartare) is best enjoyed wrapped in lettuce leaves. The crisp freshness of the lettuce perfectly complements the tender yet savory flavor of the beef. Also, the sprinkled peanut powder on top adds a nutty flavor.

The flower crab jjim, when bitten, fills your mouth with juicy goodness. The taste of savory crab meat and sweet flavor blends together in your mouth and never gets old.

Mon-eo suk-hoe-neun mon-eo-reul kkeol-neun mul-e sal-jjak dechyeo eoseuthage sseon hu, cho-go-chu-jang-eul jjigeo meogeumyeon doebnida. The squid dinner at Myeongdong Jeong was really tender, even though banquets can sometimes feel tough. Also, it had a soft yet chewy texture, which made it enjoyable to eat!

The mixed vegetable steamed prawns include various vegetables that enhance the flavor of the prawns. However, the contents on top of the dish may vary depending on the individual. The editor personally liked the tanginess of the pickled radish for adding a refreshing touch.

For dessert, sweet and chewy rainbow rice cakes were served. The sweet and chewy texture was so charming that I kept eating without realizing how full I was.

And finally, you can drink meshil tea to help digest the food. A pine nut is placed here to prevent choking when drinking too quickly, but you can feel the wisdom of our ancestors. Experience a sophisticated Korean meal at Myeongdong Jung, a traditional Korean restaurant where you can taste a variety of delicious Korean dishes all at once!
