Day 1

Seoul Station → Busan Station

Getting to Busan from Seoul is quite simple despite how far apart the two cities are! The fastest and easiest way would be to take the KTX from Seoul Station to Busan Station. It's about a 2.5 to 3 hour ride on the train. For more details on getting from Seoul to Busan, check out our blog in the link below!

How To Get From Seoul To Busan

When you arrive at Seoul Station, you can check the train times displayed on the large monitor near the entrance to the train tracks. You'll also be able to check which platform your train is on!

There are many signs in both Korean and English that will direct you to the correct platform, so don't worry about getting lost! Do keep in mind that KTX trains leave right on the dot, so it's best to get to the platform at least 5-10 minutes early. For reference, we took the 8:57 train and arrived at Busan Station at 11:15.

You'll find spaces for luggage storage in between each car. For smaller pieces of luggage like backpacks or bags, you can store them on the overhead compartment above your seat.

KTX trains are very clean and well-kept. You won't actually need to show anyone your ticket, as long as you are in the correct seat. The attendants on the train have records of which seats should be taken/empty, and will check each car to make sure no empty seats are taken.

Once you arrive at Busan Station, you can store your luggage at the lockers located between platforms 3 and 4 if needed. The locker takes both card and cash!

Lunch: Yeongdong Milmyeon | 영동밀면

After a 3-hour train ride, you're going to be hungry! Luckily, there are many restaurants located just outside the station (and even in the station). We went to Yeongdong Milmyeon, which is a popular Korean restaurant that sells Busan's most iconic dishes, Pork Rice Soup (돼지국밥) and Cold Noodles (밀면).

We ordered two Pork Rice Soups 돼지국밥 (9,000 KRW), one Suyuk Baekban 수육백반 (11,000 KRW), and one large Bibim Milmyeon 비빔밀면 (6,500 KRW). We shared this among 4 people and it was more than enough!

Suyuk Baekban (수육백반) - 11,000 KRW

Be sure to add the marinated chives to the soup! It adds extra flavor and depth.

Large Bibim Milmyeon (비빔밀면) - 6,500 KRW

Pork Rice Soup (돼지국밥) - 9,000 KRW

There are also some seasonings and sauces on the table that you can add to any of the dishes to adjust to your liking. This hearty meal was the perfect way to start off our Busan trip, especially since it was so close to the station and had some of Busan's most iconic dishes! We highly recommend it!

Oryukdo Park | 오류도 해맞이공원

After filling our bellies, it's time for some exploring! We headed over to Oryukdo Park, which is located right by the coast and about a 1-hour bus ride from the Busan Station area.

We took Bus 27 from Busan Station Bus Stop all the way to Oryukdo Skywalk Bus Stop.

Once you get off, you'll see a pathway leading up a small hill on the left. You can head up this way to get to the park.

Oryukdo Park is a very popular spot to visit during the spring because of the beautiful canola flowers, or 유채꽃! Their vibrant yellow colors make a beautiful background along with the blue coastline.

Unfortunately when we visited it was quite overcast, but with a bit of editing, we were still able to get nice photos!

If you're into taking photos, plan to spend about an hour here admiring the scenery and getting in those Instagram shots!

Cafe: Cha Sun Chaek | 차선책

At this point, it's time to rest up at a cafe! Since we were going to be spending the rest of our day in Gwangalli, one of Busan's most famous coastal neighborhoods, we went to a cafe right on Gwangalli Beach called Cha Sun Chaek.

You can take Bus 131 from Oryukdo Skywalk Bus Stop and get off at Gwangan Station Bus Stop. It's about a 35-minute bus ride and a 10-minute walk from the bus stop to the cafe.

Cha Sun Chaek has an amazing view of Gwangalli Beach and Gwangan Bridge. If you're lucky enough to get a seat by the window, you'll be able to enjoy the beautiful scenery of Busan's ocean while sipping on some coffee or tea!

Not only does this cafe have an amazing view, but it also has delicious desserts and drinks. We ordered the Mugwort Gateau 쑥갸또 (7,500 KRW), an iced Injeolmi Latte 인절미라때 (7,500 KRW), and an iced Wedding Imperial Tea 웨딩 임페리얼 홍차 (6,500 KRW).

Mugwort Gateau (쑥갸또) - 7,500 KRW

This cake was wonderful and had a very soft and moist texture. The combination of cream and nuts added on top provided a satisfying contrast of textures! We highly recommend trying one of the Gateau desserts!

Injeolmi Latte (인절미 라떼) - 7,500 KRW

The Injeolmi Latte is a signature menu item and comes with a Korean rice cake coated in a semi-sweet roasted soybean powder. The nutty essence of the rice cake blended seamlessly with the sweet coffee and cream! It also paired wonderfully with the Mugwort Gateau.

Wedding Imperial Tea (웨딩 임페리얼 홍차) - 6,500 KRW

If you're not a big fan of sweets or you want something simple and refreshing, we recommend this tea! It is a Golden Assam leaf tea with notes of chocolate and caramel in it. We really loved it!

The cafe also has self-serve water available, along with a little charging station for your phone if you're running out of battery.

We really loved Cha Sun Chaek and highly recommend it! Everything here was delicious and it was the perfect place to relax while watching the view of the sea. Click the link below for more cafe recs!

Samick Beach Town Apartment Complex | 삼익비치타운 아파트

After resting up at a cafe, we headed to one of Busan's most famous cherry blossom sites, Samick Beach Town Apartment Complex. This area is right by Gwangalli Beach, so you can walk there from the beach in just 15-20 minutes.

The neighborhood is filled with so many cherry blossom trees that everywhere is a photo spot!

Many people like to get a shot on this street, also known as Namcheon-dong Cherry Blossom Road, with the colorful apartment buildings standing on the sides of the tunnel of cherry blossom trees. Be careful when getting a photo here; there are cars driving through!

If you visit Busan in the spring, the Samick Beach Town Apartment Complex is a must! We got so many nice photos and seeing the cherry blossoms in full bloom was unforgettable. Can you imagine living in these apartments?

Dinner: Minrak Waterside Park - Bada Sanchaek Hwaleo Mart | 민락수변공원 - 바다산책 활어마트

(CLOSED)

*As of July 1, 2023, Minrak Waterside Park has implemented a ban on the consumption of alcoholic drinks at the park, causing a decrease on people visiting the area. This drop in foot traffic eventually forced Bada Sanchaek Hwaleo Mart to shut down due to lack of business. You can still get a plate of Korean-style sashimi to-go and enjoy it at the park, though alcoholic consumption is not allowed.

When in Busan, seafood is a MUST! For dinner, we headed over to Minrak Waterside Park, which is on the other side of Gwangalli Beach. You can take Bus 41 from Suyeong-gu Office Bus Stop to Minrak Waterside Park Bus Stop; it's about a 10-minute bus ride. We decided to walk because the coastline was so beautiful! It takes about 30 minutes by foot.

We got fresh sashimi at Bada Sanchaek Hwaleo Mart, where you can request different types of fish. We ordered 30,000 KRW worth of halibut (광어) and mullet (밀치), which is what they recommended to us! Thought this market is currently closed, there are several other restaurants in the area that sell Korean-style fresh sashimi!

When we say fresh sashimi, we mean they will literally prepare the fish as soon as you pay! It takes about 15-20 minutes to prepare the fish, so while you wait, you can pick up some other things for your oceanside picnic.

Right next to the seafood place there's a street food stall where you could buy this huge Korean pancake for just 7,000 KRW! It's half kimchi and half chive, so we got the best of both worlds! They also had other popular Korean street foods available, such as fish cake, tteokbokki, and fried dumplings.

Beside the street food stall, there are picnic mats, snacks, and drinks for sale! We picked up drinks from the convenience store just across the street and then got a picnic mat here, which also came with paper cups and wet tissues. Apparently drinks are cheaper here than at the convenience store, but we didn't know until we already bought ours!

*As of July 1st, 2023, Minrak Park has implemented a ban on alcohol consumption. Therefore, if you're planning a picnic here like we did, be sure to get non-alcoholic drinks! (If you get caught, you will have to pay a fine)

There's definitely a wider variety of drinks at the convenience store though!

Enjoying fresh sashimi and a crispy, savory Korean pancake with a view of Gwangan Bridge over the ocean was incredible.

Hotel: Commodore Hotel Busan | 코모도 호텔 부산

We stayed at the Commodore Hotel, which is just a five-minute taxi ride from Busan Station. We chose this hotel because not only is it absolutely beautiful and quite affordable, but it was also a filming location for the K-drama Crash Landing On You! Check out our blog to see more filming locations for Crash Landing On You!

Crash Landing On You Filming Locations

The lobby area has a traditional Korean style interior mixed with some modern features. We could see why this was the perfect filming location as a hotel in North Korea in the drama!

The brick hallway in the rooms really looked like we were in the hotel in Crash Landing On You!

We booked the Premier Standard Double Room, but got a lucky upgrade to the Deluxe Double Room! The room was really clean and the perfect size for two people. It had a great view as well!

The hotel is just as beautiful in the day time! If you'd like to book accommodations in Korea, you can book directly on Creatrip! Check out the link below to browse through Creatrip Stays!

Day 2

Gaegeum Cherry Blossom Road | 개금벚꽃문화길

Since it was cherry blossom season, we wanted to make the most of it. After dropping off our luggage at the Busan Station lockers and having a simple breakfast at the McDonald's, we headed to Gaegeum Cherry Blossom Road, which has become an increasingly well-known cherry blossom site!

You can take Bus 67 from Busan Station Bus Stop to Jurye Girls' High School Bus Stop to get to Gaegeum Cherry Blossom Road. It's about a 40-minute bus ride.

As soon as you get off the bus, there will be a road filled with cherry blossoms!

The colorful buildings and apartments in the background make a great photo op. The weather was great on the day we went, so we were able to get lots of nice photos Check them out below!

The area is very quiet and the surrounding roads have colorful little buildings, which are great for photos as well!

Cafe 1: Cafe ITTI | 카페이띠

It's time for another cafe break! This time we have 2 recommendations, Cafe ITTI (pictured above), which is famous for its view of the cherry blossoms during spring, and Cafe We Pa-Tea, which has some of the cutest desserts. They're both walking distance from Gaegeum! We split up to make a visit to both. Let's check out Cafe ITTI first!

The walk from Gaegeum to Cafe ITTI will take you through the Dongseo University campus! It's nice to get a glimpse of Korean university life and see what the campus looks like.

Cafe ITTI specializes in croffles and has a variety of drinks available. We ordered the Ice Cream Croffle 아이스크림 크로플 (6,000 KRW), Green Tea Cream Latte 녹차크림라떼 (6,500 KRW), and the Apple Mango Ade 애플망고에이드 (5,900 KRW).

There are 2 floors and a rooftop at this cafe; the first floor has indoor seating and one table outside near the entrance, the second floor has indoor seating only, and the rooftop has seating as well as a photo zone. The best seats would be on the second floor or on the rooftop for an optimal view!

The croffle and drinks were honestly a bit average but we mostly came for the view, which made up for it!

Since the rooftop has an amazing view of the cherry blossoms, it's the most sought-out spot for seats. It may be hard to get a spot, but it's worth a try seeing how nice it is! Keep in mind that the photo zone can only be used if paid for. For the best view of cherry blossoms, this is a great spot! For more cherry blossom view cafes, check out our blog in the link below:

Cafe 2: We Pa-Tea | 위파티

Credit: Instagram @wepatea_official_

The other cafe we checked out was We Pa-Tea, which has the cutest interior and desserts. It's cute even from the outside!

We Pa-Tea's signature character is this cute little brown bear, which you'll see all over the cafe - even in the form of a pastry! All the delicious desserts are displayed on the first floor as seen in the photo above.

The desserts are so colorful and cute, aren't they?

The interior is really nice, so there are lots of spots to take photos! There's even a little self-photo area on the second floor! It was 4,000 KRW for two copies!

They also have a little goods section with cute stationery and accessories. They could make for a nice little souvenir!

The second floor seating area has a clean interior with white and beige tones. The huge windows let in lots of natural light and make it feel like such an open space!

We ordered the Bear Butter Bread 곰도리 버터빵, an Iced Milk Tea 아이스 밀크티 (5,000 KRW), and an Iced Americano 아이스아메리카노 (3,400 KRW). The Bear Butter Bread was super cute and delicious! The drinks were great as well and the Milk Tea came in this cute bear bottle. We loved it here!

Songdo Cloud Trails | 송도구름산책로

Before leaving Busan, we wanted to make one more visit to the coast! This time, we headed to Songdo, which is famous for the Songdo Cable Car (Busan Air Cruise) and the Songdo Cloud Trails.

We took Bus 61 from Naengjeong Pass Bus Stop in Gaegeum to Songdo Entrance Bus Stop, but there are other paths as well. This route took just under an hour and stopped right by a bridge (육교) that had a great view of the surrounding area!

It's about a 5- to 10-minute walk to Songdo Beach. You'll see the cable car line and the Songdo Cloud Trails across the horizon along with high-rise buildings on the coast. Compared to Gwangalli Beach, Songdo has a more calm and quiet vibe.

The trail is actually quite long, and it's really nice to be able to walk over the sea! We found ourselves stopping and taking photos and videos quite often along the path!

There are parts along the deck of the trail where you can see through to the water. There isn't any glass blocking these areas, so be careful not to drop your phone or other belongings!

The water in this area is quite clear, so you can see sea animals like fish and even starfish!

There are many different photos you can take as you walk along the trail with the ocean breeze! If you get a chance, you should ride the cable car as well! Unfortunately it was closed due to maintenance the day we went, so we couldn't ride it. You can check the schedule here.

Near Songdo Beach, there are lots of seafood restaurants and a street called Songdo Alleyway Town (송도골목 먹거리 타운) with more restaurants! It's a hidden gem for foodies! If you're a bit strapped on time, you can always eat at Busan Station as well before getting back on the KTX to Seoul (which is what we did).

Information

Hours: Every Day 6:00-23:00
Address: 129-4 Annam-dong, Seo-gu, Busan (부산광역시 서구 암남동 129-4)

Busan Station → Seoul

Finally, it's time to head back to Seoul. You can walk about 10 minutes to Annam-dong Community Center Bus Stop and take Bus 26 to Busan Station Bus Stop. It's about a 20-minute bus ride.

There are many KTX trains that travel between Seoul and Busan, so you can pick a time that is ideal for you! After a couple days of exploring Busan, you'll probably knock out on the train ride back!
