Ganghwa Hwagesan Monorail

The Ganghwa Monorail is one of the attractions located at Hwagae Mountain, which takes about 20 minutes to reach the observatory. Once you reach the observatory, on a clear day, you can even see North Korea, which is why it's sometimes called the "roofless museum". In addition, Hwagae Mountain is home to various flowers that bloom in all seasons, making it a beautiful destination all year round. There are also walking trails along the plants, making it a perfect place for a weekend stroll.

Daeryongri Market

Gyodong Market was formed by refugees who fled from Hwanghae Province during the Korean War in 1950. Over time, the market's function has decreased, but since the opening of Gyodong Bridge in 2014, it has become a popular tourist destination. Today, it is a place that evokes nostalgia and is gaining attention as a retro travel destination. At the entrance of Daeryongri Market, there is Ganghwa Farmers Market, which has the appearance of a large warehouse. Ganghwa Farmers Market is a space created by Ganghwa farmers and local artists, where the promotion of Ganghwa agricultural and specialty products is blended with cultural arts. Moreover, there are various foods such as hotteok (sweet Korean pancake) and twisted bread, allowing visitors to sample a variety of traditional Korean foods.

Sochang Experience Center

Step into the past and experience the rich cultural heritage of Ganghwa's traditional textile industry at the Sochang Experience Center. This charming space is a beautifully restored hanok and dyeing factory from 1938, which has been transformed into a hub for preserving and celebrating the legacy of Ganghwa's traditional industry. As you explore the center, you'll discover the fascinating history of Ganghwa's textile industry, which began at the Hwamunseok weaving factory and culminated at Sochang, where handkerchiefs are still produced to this day. Through hands-on experiences like stamping your own Sochang handkerchief or trying your hand at the traditional Korean art of Dado, you can truly immerse yourself in the sights, sounds, and textures of this historic craft. Come and discover the wonders of Sochang at the Sochang Experience Center, where tradition meets modernity in a beautifully restored setting.

Joyang Textile Art Gallery

Once a textile factory established with domestic capital in Kanghwa in 1933, Joyangbangjik has been reborn as a magnificent café after falling into disrepair over the years. The crumbling walls have transformed into exquisite art galleries and cinema halls, while the long workbenches have been converted into coffee tables. The once-empty space, abandoned by machines and people alike, has been filled with antique treasures from China, Europe, and beyond. An English door frame with shattered glass, a round mirror that used to hang on a train in Czech Republic, and a fish-shaped pastry machine that struggled every winter have been seamlessly integrated into the space, as if they had always belonged there. With over 300 square meters of space, Joyangbangjik retains the original structure of the factory and building, preserving the story of time throughout the café.

Come and indulge in various beverages and cakes while basking in the history and charm of this unique space. Joyangbangjik is not just a café, it's a journey through time.
