Preview

Noryangjin Fish Market has an insane array of seafood available. 250 to 300 tons of the freshest seafood is shipped to Noryangjin first from all over the country. Usually used as a wholesale market for vendors, everyday purchasers often get overwhelmed by the hectic market. However, the people of Seoul often visit Noryangjin Fish Market when they are looking for a great meal with the freshest seafood.

You can find fresh, live seafood and also fermented and dried seafood at the market. Octopus fermented in chili paste, brined shrimp, fish sauce, and other key ingredients to Korean cuisine can be found here.

Dried seafood does great when transported and can be stored at room temperature for extended periods of time! It is rather popular among international tourists because of its shelf-life and of course, tastiness.

You will see displays of the biggest jumbo shrimp lying in front of the stalls and vendor owners grabbing octopus with their hands to impress potential customers. These live seafood are cooked immediately and can be eaten within the next 20 minutes.

Koreans love to eat fresh seafood with soju so you will see plenty of people with glowy cheeks, red from the alcohol at the food courts. You can choose to take your seafood back to your accommodation or enjoy it at one of the food courts!
