Don't want to deal with subway transfers after a long flight? The Incheon Airport Limousine Bus is one of the most popular ways to get between the airport and Seoul — you buy a ticket, sit down in a comfortable seat, and ride directly to your destination area without changing trains. No dragging luggage through subway stations, no figuring out which line to transfer to.

This guide covers everything you need to know: how to buy tickets, where to board, which route goes where, travel times, luggage rules, and a full route list with timetables. If you're not sure whether the airport bus is right for you, we've also included a comparison with other transport options.

Quick summary:

  • Fare: ₩16,000–18,000 per person (one way) (16000 - 18000)
  • Payment at airport: Ticket machine or counter (credit card only, no cash)
  • Payment from Seoul: T-money card (tap on when boarding)
  • Luggage: 1 checked bag (28 inches / 20kg max) + 1 carry-on per person
  • Climate Card: NOT accepted on airport buses

How Do I Ride the Incheon Airport Bus?

How to ride the Incheon Airport limousine bus

The process is different depending on which direction you're going:

Airport → Seoul
Seoul → Airport
How to pay
Buy a physical ticket at the machine or counter
Tap your T-money card when boarding
Where to buy
Ticket kiosks or staffed counters at the airport
No advance purchase needed

From the Airport to Seoul

You cannot pay cash or tap a T-money card to board at the airport. You need to buy a ticket first at one of the self-service kiosks or staffed ticket counters. The good news: the machines accept international credit cards and have English, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean language options.

💡 Editor Tip: A little heads up because you're gonna have to communicate with the driver! After you get your ticket and board, the driver will ask where you're getting off, that's when you tell them your exact stop (this determines where your luggage gets loaded).

From Seoul to the Airport

When heading back to the airport from a bus stop in Seoul, just tap your T-money card when you board. Make sure your card has at least ₩17,000–18,000 loaded (that's one fare).

When you board, the driver will get out to help load your luggage and will ask which terminal you're going to. Just say "Terminal One" or "Terminal Two" in English — they'll understand.

💡 Editor Tip: Wait for the driver to finish loading luggage and get back on the bus before you board and tap your card. Some drivers will firmly ask you to wait outside, they're not being rude, they need an accurate headcount before departure.

How Long Does the Airport Bus Take?

This is one of the most common questions, and the honest answer is: it depends on traffic.

But it's better to be safe than sorry so here's the general rule of thumb. If you're further away from Incheon (Gangnam), think of  it as a 2 hour bus ride. If you're a bit closer west (Hongdae), think of it as a 2 hour ride.

Airport Bus vs Subway vs Car Service — Which Is Best?

How long the airport bus takes from Incheon Airport

Subway / AREXAirport BusCar Service
CostCheapest (₩4,750–13,000)Mid-range (₩16,000–18,000)Most expensive
Guaranteed seatNot alwaysYesYes
LuggageNo limit, but inconvenient1 bag per personFlexible
ConvenienceRequires transfersMay need to walk from bus stopDoor to door
Travel timeMost predictableCan be affected by trafficCan be affected by traffic

Subway/AREX is cheapest and most time-predictable — you can calculate your arrival time almost to the minute. But you'll be dragging luggage through stations and possibly standing.

Airport bus wins on comfort — guaranteed seat, no transfers, someone loads your luggage. The downside is potential traffic delays and a short walk from the bus stop to your hotel.

Car service is the most convenient — they pick you up and drop you at the door. But it's the most expensive option for solo travelers. For groups, though, splitting the cost often makes it comparable to bus fare per person.

Editor's Tip: If you have a a lot of luggage, you might want to go for a bigger taxi.

Is There a Free Ride Offer for Families?

Yes! According to the official Incheon Airport Limousine Bus policy, when a family of 3 travels together heading to the airport (Seoul → Incheon direction only), 1 person rides free. Just inform the driver when boarding.

Eligible routes: 6001, 6002, 6003, 6004, 6005, 6007, 6008, 6010, 6011, 6012, 6013, 6014, 6015, 6016, 6017, 6018, 6019, 6030, N6000, N6001, N6002

How it works:

  • Family of 3 (e.g., 2 adults + 1 child): 1 person free
  • 1 adult + 1 teenager + 1 child: the child rides free
  • 2 parents + 1 child: 1 person free

This only applies when heading toward the airport, not from the airport to Seoul. For details, check the official airport bus website.

Are There Discounts I Can Get for the Bus?

Creatrip provides discounts to several airport buses including the 6100 and the 6103!

The 6100 bus offers direct service to northern areas of Seoul, including Nowon-gu and Jungnang-gu.

The 6103 bus provides convenient access to the COEX area in Gangnam.

These routes are great options if you want a comfortable, direct ride from the airport to your destination without transfers.

Editor's Note: Let's say you have some last minute shopping to do at COEX before heading to the Airport to catch an evening flight. I would book the 6103 bus so it takes you directly to the airport. I would also use a luggage delivery service so you can shop hands free without stressing about your luggage. Then once you go to the airport, you can pick up your stuff directly from the airport on the same day.

FAQ — Incheon Airport Bus Common Questions

Can I pay with cash on the airport bus?
No. At the airport, you must buy a ticket at the kiosk or counter (credit card accepted). From Seoul, you can tap your T-money card or pay with credit card upon arrival at the airport.

Can I use the Climate Card on the airport bus?
No. The Climate Card is not accepted on airport buses, no exceptions.

What if my suitcase is larger than 28 inches?
It may be counted as two pieces, and you'll be charged an additional ₩8,000. The driver makes the final call on-site.

How do I know which bus stop to use in Seoul?

Look for bus stops with an airplane icon and the airport bus route number. Use the Naver Map app to confirm the stop location and check real-time bus arrivals.

Can I take the airport bus late at night?
Most routes have their last departure from the airport between 22:40 and 23:30. For very late arrivals, check if night buses (N6000, N6001, N6002) are running, or consider a taxi/car service.

How early should I take the bus if I have a flight?
Use the 4-hour rule: subtract 4 hours from your flight time. That's when you should be on the bus. For example, a 7 PM flight = board by 3 PM. This accounts for travel time plus the 2.5–3 hours recommended for airport check-in.

Is the airport bus better than the AREX train?
It depends on where you're staying. If your hotel is near Seoul Station, AREX is faster and more predictable. If your hotel is near Gangnam, Myeongdong, Hongdae, or Jamsil, the airport bus gets you there without transfers. The bus is more comfortable (guaranteed seat, luggage loaded for you) but can be delayed by traffic.

Does the bus go to both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2?
Yes. All routes stop at both terminals. Terminal 2 is usually the first stop when departing from the airport (since it's farther from Seoul), and the last stop when returning to the airport.

Is the family free ride offer available in both directions?
No. The free ride for families of 3 only applies when heading toward the airport (Seoul → Incheon), not from the airport to Seoul.
