'In the Soop' is a Korean reality tv show featuring the Uga-uga Family, which consists of BTS's V, Park Seo Jun, Choi Woo Sik, Park Hyun Sik, and Peakboy. The show centers around the five friends and their winter trip to the countryside in Korea. Fans got to see a glimpse of the friend group's chemistry and how the men act when they are together. In this post, we will introduce the filming locations featured in the popular show.
In the Soop Filming Locations
1. Song Jiho Makguksu(송지호막국수)
Address: 강원 고성군 죽왕면 동해대로 5866
5866 Donghaedaero, Jukwang-myeon, Gosung-gun, Gangwon-do
Hours: 11:00 - 19:00
This restaurant is visited by V, Park Seo Jun, and Peakboy on their way to Gosung.
Potato Pancake (감자전)10,000 KRW
Makguksu (막국수)8,000 KRW; Marinated Fish topping +1,000 KRW
The restaurant gives off a traditional homey feel. The surrounding furniture makes you feel like you're in your grandmother's house for lunch. The potato pancakes are eaten as an appetizer and is soon followed by the Makguksu, which is a cold bowl of noodles made of buckwheat, topped with seaweed, sesame, and marinated fish. This dish is a Gangwon delicacy, enjoyed in both the winter and summer.
If you ever plan on going to Gosung, give this place a try!
2. Seorojae(서로재)
Address: 강원 고성군 죽왕면 봉수대길 118
118 Bongsudae-gil, Jukwwang-myeon, Gosung-gun, Gangwon-do
Check out the official website for more information.
The house where the men stayed during their trip is called Seorojae. The beautifully designed piece of architecture has a total of 7 rooms, which can all be reserved separately. The price depends on whether it is a weekday or weekend, as well as the size and view of the room. It ranges from 350,000 KRW to 800,000 KRW.
Watching the friends enjoy their time in the villa makes us want to have a friend staycation there as well.
You can make reservations on the Seorojae website, which is both available in Korean and English, so if you're planning on visiting Gosung, check out the available dates in advance!
3. Gonghyeonjin Port(공현진항)
Address: 강원도 고성군 죽왕면 공현진리 431-11
431-11 Gondhyeonjin-ri, Jukwang-myeon, Gosung-gun, Gangwon-do
The first thing on the boys' itinerary outside of the villa is to go fishing. They head off to Gonghyeonjin Port and get on one of the small fishing boats in the port. Just around the corner is Gonghyeongjin Beach.
To get the most out of your trip to the coastal city, you should also visit a local fish market. Just a random thought, can you imagine the 5 mega-celebrities roaming around the small fishing village in the countryside in Korea?
4. The Black Eagle - Boat ride(블랙이글스호)
Check out the website(Korean) for more information.
The five friends board the Black Eagle at the Gonghyeonjin Port. Once they are all in the cabin, the boat heads off towards the horizon. You can make a reservation on the website above and experience the sea just as the Uga Family did.
However, fishing really depends on luck. You might have to go home without having caught anything. We personally think that the hustle isn't worth it and buying seafood at the fish market is the way to go but for friends who want a special memory to hold on to, make reservations on their website.
5. Song Jiho Beach(송지호해수욕장)
Address: 강원 고성군 죽왕면 오호리 1-5
1-5 Oho-ri, Jukwang-myeon, Gosung-gun, Gangwon-do
Remember the Makguksu restaurant we introduced earlier? Just a 10-minute walk away is Song Jiho Beach. This beach featured in the show is one of the most beautiful scenes in the entirety of the show.
The sea breeze blowing and the waves lapping onto the beach shore look like a painting. If you come to Gosung with your friends later, come to this Song Jiho Beach and take a friendship photo, just like the Uga Family did in 'In the Soop'.
6. Gangneung Olympic Park(강릉올림픽파크)
Address: 강원 강릉시 수리골길 98
98 Surigol-gil, Gangneung-si, Gangwon-do
The last location is the Olympic Park in Gangneung. This was one of the venues for the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics so the facilities are top-notch. It is now a tourist attraction and also a practice venue where skaters train.
The five friends spend their time ice-skating here. Watching them fall and struggle but also help each other out was quite a sight to see.
'In the Soop' only has 4 episodes but fans were just happy to see their favorites have a few days off and have fun with their friends. Watching the show makes you wonder how every single member of the Uga Family is so handsome even with their messy bed hair. The show let us into a few days into this ever-lasting friendship and we are happy to have been a part of it for four episodes.
