Our Visit

Lee Nam Jang is a Seolleongtang restaurant located near Exit 5 of Euljiro Entrance Station.

The interior of the store is very spacious and is decorated with traditional Korean jagae patterns, paintings, and props.

There are various tables, such as window seats perfect for solo diners, floor seats, and tables for group diners, so anyone can comfortably dine!

The photo above is from the 1.5th floor. It was quite packed although it was 3 PM. It seems to be a popular spot for everyone from office workers to older women, Koreans, and foreigners alike!

If you go up to the second floor, there are more seats with comfortable chairs. It is pretty old-fashioned and looks like a teahouse from the early 20th century!

The second floor is decorated with props reminiscent of old Korean homes. Isn't it so cute and colorful?

On the table, salt, red-pepper sauce, green onion, and black pepper are placed so you can season your soup to your liking.

Now we'll show you what we ordered!

We ordered one order of Special Seolleongtang (20,000 KRW) and one Seolleongtang(12,000 KRW)! Kimchi and Radish kimchi are complimentary, and you are also given a dipping sauce for the meat.

Special Seolleongtang 20,000 KRW

First off, the Special Seolleongtang is a rich soup with special cuts of beef including cow tongue and brisket(the green onion was added by me). In the rich white broth is rice and somen noodles!

A piece of cow tongue this big is inside the broth!

This special cut melts in your mouth. It's the perfect combination of beef fat and meat giving a soft and rich beef flavor. The cut is pretty generous, right?

Cut the big pieces of beef into bite size and scoop them up with soup and rice. My honest review of cow tongue is that it was much softer than the other cuts of beef. It melts in my mouth! It was my first time eating cow tongue, so it was quite the experience.

This cut of beef even looks like it would be so soft and it goes really well with the dipping sauce.

Even though I cut all the meat up, I caught a lot in one scoop. I've never seen Seolleongtang with this much meat! The Seolleongtang at Inamjang didn't have the odor that meat sometimes has when cooked improperly.

Seolleongtang 설렁탕 12,000원

Unlike like the Special Seolleongtang, this version only has brisket. The cuts of meat are limited but this Seolleongtang also had a lot of meat!

Season how salty you like your soup with salt before you dig in.

Scoop up a spoonful full of rice, noodles, and meat and have at it in one bite.

Seolleongtang focuses on the flavor of the rich bone broth and isn't too strong of a taste. As soon as you take a bite, you'll feel warm inside(the restaurant is cooled down by the air conditioner, so you can enjoy it in the summer).

You can't forget the kimchi and radish kimchi when you have Seolleongtang!

Cut the kimchi up with the scissors given into bite-sized pieces and place it on top of your spoonful of Seolleongtang! The combination of hot soup with rice and kimchi is such a good pairing.

You may want to add a bit more spice to your soup later on. Try adding some chili paste!

I added some chili paste and finished off my bowl with red soup!

I was full and satisfied after finishing my bowl of rice, noodles, and meat.

If you aren't satisfied and need more rice, noodles, or side dishes, you can help yourself to some more at the self-bar, which is placed in the middle of the restaurant!

Just letting you know, you can also use the Creatrip 10% coupon for your purchase when you order to go.
