What Should I do Right After Landing?
So you just hopped off the plane and you're finally in Korea. You went through immigration and you found your bag, what's next?
Answer these three questions to prepare yourself for an awesome trip:
- Where are you going? Seoul station? Myeongdong? Jeju?
- How are you getting there? Will it be the train, bus, or taxi?
- Are you ready to move? Do you have your luggage? Did everyone go to the bathroom? Need anything before you head out?
Sort this out and you're ready for the big leagues.
How do I get Seoul from the Airport?
It depends on where in Seoul you're headed, and how comfortable or budget-friendly you want to be.
Option 1: AREX Express Train or All-Stop Train
Location: B1

The quickest, as well as most convenient way to get to Seoul is to take the Airport Railroad Express at B1. These trains are divided into two types. Option 3: Taxi

General taxis an be taken from platforms 5C, 6C, and 6D of the arrival floor. If you are worried about language barriers and would like to communicate in a different language, you can catch an international taxi from platform 4C.

After informing the staff of your destination, they will guide you to a taxi.
Editor's Tip: Personally, I always ride a taxi after a long flight. If you're traveling in a large group with a lot of luggage, you'll most likely be rejected by a regular cab. Try booking a larger cab in advance through Creatrip!

How do I Get Between T1 and T2?
A free shuttle bus runs between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 throughout the day. You don't need a ticket — just show up and board.

You can catch this bus at Exit 8 of the departure floor. The bus comes every ten minutes and the ride takes about 15-20 minutes.
Editor's Tip: If you don't have a lot of time, taking the All-Stop airport train might be faster to travel between T1 and T2. Budget about 30 min for terminal transfer to be safe.
Before you head out, do you have everything you need? Don't forget to get your cash, SIM, DATA, etc
Where to Exchange Currency at Incheon Airport?

Exchange places in Seoul close at around 20:00, so if you arrive too late and need to exchange money, there are many banks at the airport that provide currency exchange services. However, banks at the airport provide much worse exchange rates than private currency exchange services in the city. If you need cash right away, it is recommended to only exchange the amount needed for the first night and do the rest in the city.
Editor's Tip: Most places in Seoul will accept credit cards so exchanging 50-100 USD will usually be enough to cover your first day.

Good news for you is, there's a way to exchange currency directly at Incheon Airport without getting ripped off at the airport banks! With the Creatrip Airport Currency Exchange Pickup Service, you can make a reservation ahead of time with just a 10,000 KRW deposit payment (which will be refunded once you arrive at the airport) and exchange money right at the airport at much better rates!
(Not a fixed rate)
You can use the Creatrip Exchange Rate Calculator to calculate exactly how much you can exchange USD to KRW for and how much you can save! The calculator is updated twice a day at 12:00 PM and 12:00 AM. Click the link below to check the current rates and make a reservation for currency exchange at the airport!

Great job! But let's say you finished your trip in Korea and you're ready to say goodbye. This next part will help you leave seamlessly while taking advantage of all the amenities at the airport,
How Do I Check In at Terminal 1
If you're heading back home, the 3F departure hall is your main destination. This is where you'll find check-in counters, baggage drop, and the entrance to security and immigration.
Airlines at Terminal 1 include United Airlines, Air Canada, Jeju Air, T'way Air, Vietnam Airlines, China Southern Airlines, and many others. Check-in counters are labeled A through N — find your airline's assigned counter on the departure boards when you arrive.
There are also self-check-in kiosks near the F counter area on 3F, operating in Korean, English, Japanese, and Chinese.
Note: As of January 2026, Asiana Airlines, Air Seoul, and Air Busan have moved to Terminal 2. If you're flying with any of these carriers, head to T2 instead. Always double-check your terminal before heading to the airport.

There are check-in counters A to N on the departure floor. You can find the corresponding counter according to the airline code and go through the check-in procedures.

Where to do my Tax Refund at Incheon Airport Terminal 1
If you've purchased items eligible for a tax refund during your Korea trip, you can process it at Terminal 1 before your flight. The process depends on how your refund items are packed:
If your refund items are in your carry-on (going through security with you):
- Check in at your airline counter first
- Head to the self-service tax refund kiosks on the east side of 3F (available 24 hours)
- If the kiosk says customs inspection is needed, go to the customs desk near gate 28 in the duty-free zone with your passport, tax refund receipts, and the unopened items
- Complete the refund process inside the duty-free zone

If you forget to refund your taxes before going through customs, you can refund tax inside! Head to gate 28 and you'll see a Tax Refund zone.
What's Inside the Duty-Free Zone? (After Security)
Once you clear security and immigration, you enter the duty-free zone — the last stretch before boarding.
Here you can:
- Shop duty-free at Shinsegae and Hyundai department store duty-free shops
![Duty-free shopping area at Incheon Airport Terminal 1 departures]()
- Pick up pre-ordered duty-free items (pickup counters are open 24 hours)
- Eat and drink — there are restaurants and cafes on 3F and 4F of the duty-free zone
- Rest — seating areas and charging spots are scattered throughout
- Rent strollers for free near gates 8, 12, and 29
If your boarding gate is in the 101–132 range, you'll need to take the shuttle train inside the terminal to reach it. The shuttle is located between gates 27 and 28.
💡 Editor Tip: If your gate is far, check where it is before you settle in to browse duty-free. Terminal 1 is big — don't assume you can make it across in 5 minutes. Plenty of people have had to sprint to their gate because they lost track of time shopping.
What Other Facilities Does Terminal 1 Have?
Rather than listing every single facility (which you can find on the Incheon Airport website), here are the ones travelers actually ask about most:
Shower Rooms — Located on 4F central area and near gates 25 and 29 in the duty-free zone. Fee is 15,000 KRW for general passengers, 7,000 KRW for transit passengers.
Rest Areas — Reclining lounge chairs are available in the duty-free zone and are genuinely comfortable for a nap. Much better than the regular terminal seating. Just keep an eye on the time so you don't miss your flight.
SPA ON AIR — B1 east side, near arrival hall Gate 3 (outside security). Open 24 hours. Korean bath and sauna experience — a nice option if you have a long layover.
Hospital — Inha Hospital, B1 east side. Open 08:00–20:00 (break 12:00–13:00, 17:30–18:00). Treats both Korean nationals and foreigners.
Pharmacies — Multiple locations on 3F (near counters G and H). If you need over-the-counter medication before your flight, you can grab it here.
Capsule Hotel (Loft Hugh) — B1 central area, T1 Traffic Center. Open 24 hours. Daytime rooms start at 32,000 KRW for 3 hours; overnight rooms from 69,000 KRW.
Maglev Railway — 2F Traffic Center. A free tourist train to Yongyu Station (about 12 minutes). Runs 10:00–17:00, closed Mondays and major holidays, departing every 35 minutes. A fun way to kill time during a long layover.
Airport Lounges — Available throughout the terminal. Access depends on your airline, ticket class, or lounge membership.
