Our Visit

Located near Anguk Station, Bukchon Photo Studio has a high review on Naver with a score of 4.9 out of 5 Naver reviews. You might also recognize this place as it appeared on the TV program Heart Signal 3.

Bukchon Photo Studio is located on the first basement floor. Just go down the hallway decorated with these photos!

The entrance to the Bukcheon Photo Studio was decorated with photos and lighting from various visitors. We suggest taking a look at how others posed and took photos for reference!

Black and White Photo Studio

This is where you can select and prepare your own photos. WE recommend that you arrive 10-15 minutes before your shooting time to ensure that you have an adequate amount of time to prepare for your shoot!

The dressing table was equipped with a hair dryer, iron, comb, and hair roll so that you can make sure your hair is neat before taking photos. If you want to do your makeup, or do some light retouches before the photoshoot starts, we suggest that you bring your own cosmetics! The lighting in the studio is perfect for touching up makeup!

There is also a fitting room with a full-length mirror next to the dressing table, so you can change clothes or organize your clothes.

We were given a brief explanation before the self-studio shooting about the different options and shooting methods. We were told that we could choose between a colored photo and a black and white photo. There were 2 different black and white color styles and 4 different color styles.

We liked how we were even able to choose between the different shades and tones of the color and black and white photos! It really made the whole experience feel much more personal and hands on.

Once you are ready to shoot, you can take a self-portrait in a private place blacked off by curtains like this. Since nobody will be looking at you, you can freely enjoying taking pictures! Bust out all the poses you can think of!

This is the interior of the self-studio. Before filming begins, the photographer will explain the photography process and rules.

There is a cell phone that will be placed on the front center chair which will be filming a time lapse that will be sent to you via e-mail. The entire process will be filmed and the time lapse will be around 30 seconds in length. There will also be a watch that will keep track of the amount of time that you have in the studio. After 20 minutes, the alarm will ring and your time will be up!

On the left, there is a monitor where you can check what is being filmed. You can take pictures while checking each cut!

There are also props that can be used during the shooting process. These props range from hats, glasses, headbands, bouquets and more! You can even bring your own props if you feel as though you have something that you want to take photos with. However soap, bubbles or any type of soap bubble is not allowed.

The center is marked on the floor of the shooting area., You can take a picture standing or sitting based on the mark. There are several chairs on the side that you can use while shooting, so make sure to make use of all the chairs, angels and props!

This is what it will look like when you are taking pictures in the studio! Make sure to make the most of all the props and incorporate them into your photos!

Because the camera remote control is wireless, you can even pose naturally and in candid positions!

There is not only a monitor but also a large mirror on the set, so you can take pictures while checking your appearance and condition. The way that the whole process is set up makes it very easy for even beginners to take natural photos so there is no need to worry!

Although 20 minutes does not seem like that much time, we were able to try out a lot of different poses during the time. We recommend to try out a variety of poses so that you have a good selection of photos! The beige background also ensured that all the photos came out beautifully! For those that want a different atmosphere in their photos, you can also opt for a gray background.

I was having such a good time filming that time flew by! We headed over to another room after our filming was over so that we could go and look at how they came out and choose the photos we wanted to get edited. You can choose 2 photos to get retouched per team. Since we took both individual photos and photos together we picked 2 individual photos and 2 photos together to get edited.

If you visit on a weekday, you can also receive the original file if you purchase the 9-part photo purchase. We decided to try and opt for this one. When choosing a 9-frame photo, check number 1,2, and 3 on the photo and the photographer will arrange them in the desired order. In addition, if you write the text you want, we will add the text under the photo for free!

Self studio retouching takes about 2 hours after photo selection. Skin correction, hair retouch, and flaws on the face will be evened out and retouched automatically. However, for those looking to change their hairstyle, or fully erase something, that will not be allowed.

After waiting, this was the final results. It came out really well didn't it? In the color + black and white self-studio, after correcting the best 2 cuts, you can print a total of 2 copies of 1 in black and white and the other in color. However, on weekdays they print out a total of 4 copies, so you can get a total of 2 each! both of you can have a copy of the best cuts, so we recommend visiting on the weekdays.

if you make a reservation for color + black and white (mixed), the will also provide a lettering service on the final revised version. We recommend that you write something within ten characters in Korean! It will add a cute touch to the photos. However, you can write in English, and Chinese if you are unsure of what to write in Korean.

The photo on the left is the original photo, and the photo on the right is after editing! As a professional photographer has edited, we could tell that the overall color tone of the photo became even and the hairstyle was organized neatly! Basically, the artist retouches the photo quite naturally to make the photo look very appealing without compromising the original photo.

These photos came out really nice didn't they? We love that the lettering on the bottom adds a unique personal touch! We hope that you enjoy how your photos come out just as much as we liked how these came out!

Getting Filmed by the Photographer

The waiting room for the artist's photo shoot is separate from the waiting room for the self studio. Therefore it is unlikely that you will be using the waiting room with other people.

Similar to the self-studio waiting room, there are hair care products such as combs, irons, and hair dryers as well as simple cosmetics that are provided.

This is the studio where the artist's filming takes place! You can choose between beige and gray for the background sheet.

You can also take advantage of flower props and full-length mirrors that are in the studio for your photos!

There are also big lights all over the studio that you will be able to take photos under. Good lighting is essential for a good photo! There is also a hanger and storage area to keep your belongings and hang up your jacket if you need to!

The photographer will give you a lot of advice and direction on what to do to make sure that the photos come out well before shooting. The photographer puts in a lot of effort to all the little details such as the pose, facial expression and even where your hair is! Even those that struggle with taking photos will feel at ease with the photographer.

You can listen to what the photographer has to say and take your photos accordingly!

As we are not models, it was quite awkward and embarrassing to attempt various poses and to participate in the photoshoot. however, the photographer was able to shift the atmosphere and create a fun environment for the shoot!

Don't worry about the atmosphere being really tense or being uncomfortable in front of the photographer! The photographer is also really kind and we ended up laughing the whole time, which helped get some really nice candid photos!

After filming, we got to choose the photos we liked. You can choose the best shots and you will get a total of 2 sheets, one in black and white, and another in color! It was so hard to decide what photos we liked as there were so many nice photos!

We ended up picking the following photos! What do you think of them? The photographer was super meticulous during the editing process as well so we honestly were impressed with how professional these photos looked after they were edited!

The left is the original and the right is the edited photo. You can see that the photographer adjusted flyaway hairs, and evened the skin tone and colors in the photo.

We also were able to try out various backgrounds! You can see the difference in the photo based on the background color as well! The beige creates a brighter image whereas the gray creates a dark and moodier environment!

Profile Photos

We also took out profile (passport) photos. These are also taken by the photographer.Passport photos must be taken against a white background, so it is best to avoid wearing white clothes!

There is also lighting that is placed underneath you, which will create a brighter look in the photo. The photographer will give you lots of detailed advice so that you can take beautiful ID and passport photos! Now there will be no need to be embarrassed of your passport or drivers license photo!

After filming and selecting the photo that we liked, it took around 20 minutes for the photographer to edit our photos. This is the final result~!

Have you ever seen passport and drivers license photos as nice as these?
