Our Visit

Located near Dosan Park, Wake & Bake becomes the perfect place to visit during your visit to the park. The restaurant/bakery combo first opened as classic Italian restaurant, serving only pizza and pasta. But after collaborating with Jeju's Sisterfield Bakery to create bakery menu items, their popularity seriously increased.

If you were to only look at the location on a map, you would think this is just a cafe in the middle of Gangnam. However, the decor and atmosphere give you the feeling of escaping to an island getaway. The brunch spot feels secluded, thanks to the use of palm-tree like aesthetics and rattan interior. The terrace allows you the ability to enjoy a meal and the outdoors, or a cozy getaway in the safety of the restaurant. The entrance, which is located to the left of the terrace, allows you the chance to sneak a peak of the place before you even enter.

The modern and simple interior of Wake and Bake. Inside you see white walls with wooden accents and pillars accompanied by the rattan furniture and plants.

We decided to sit on the terrace which felt cozy and warm.

An inside view of the terrace at Wake & Bake. A rattan lamp hangs from the ceiling and points at the table.

If you can't find a table on the first floor, fear not! There is plenty of seating available on the second floor, which presents the same aesthetic atmosphere introduced on the first floor.

The interior is a combination of many popular interior decorating trends such as the use of natural wooden tones and plants. The combination of these elements with the the rattan furniture gives the place a very cozy and comfortable stay which is very inviting. This alone makes it great place to capture your next aesthetic Instagram post.

The first floor is where the kitchen and bakery are located. Here you can order pizzas and a bunch of different desserts. What really stood out during our visit was the dessert zone. Wake & Bake offers a wide variety of desserts such as Basque Cheesecake and croissants, however it is most popular for its breads and tarts. People come to visit JUST to stash up on these bakery items.

After you finish checking out the interior, you can go up the cash register to order. Once you pay, you make your way back to your seat with your ticket number and receipt and wait for your order. Water is self-serve feel free to get as much as you need.

We happily sat in our terrace seats and enjoyed the breeze as we waited for our order. When our food was finally in front of us, we really felt we were on a trip, rather than simply in the middle of Gangnam.

Fresh Meat Lover's Pizza

The Fresh Meat Lover's Pizza

The Fresh Meat Lover's Pizza (25,000KRW) had a very thin crust and toppings of cheese and meatballs. We believe all the pizzas served there are thin-crust pizzas.

We DEFINITELY recommend everyone who visits tries the pizza. The freshly-oven baked pizza was light, yet savory so it stayed true to an authentic pizza taste. The pizza dough is also very soft in chewy as a result of coming fresh out the oven, so even non-crust eaters will find themselves eating every single piece.

Italian Sausage Sandwich

The Italian Sausage Sandwich (12,000KRW) came filled with sausage and cheese. We were worried it might be a little greasy but the mix of vegetables used made it light and fresh.

The bathroom was also decorated in white and provided a welcoming atmosphere which made it comfortable to use at any time.
