Extra Large Takeout Drinks In Korea To Try This Year

Cheap and huge drinks have become an indispensable part of the Korean beverage industry.

But with so many drink franchises to choose from, how do you pick where to get yours?

We tried out the new flavors released for summer 2021 from 5 major chains!

All of these options are super refreshing and great for summer, so you really can't go wrong.

Dessert 39

First up, we have Dessert 39, which is famous for the variety of huge drinks.

We ordered two flavors, the Cheese Fromage Mango Latte and the Lychee Chamomile Relaxer.

The large size (초대용량) is over nine inches tall and over 30 ounces!

Cheese Fromage Mango Latte

This is the most popular menu item for teens and 20-somethings.

To be honest, my expectations were not that high given the size and cheap price, however I was pleasantly surprised.

The sweet and sour cheese goes well with the refreshing mango flavor.

It's a great summer drink option!

There were a few customers who came in after me and they all ordered the Cheese Fromage Mango Latte as well.

Lychee Chamomile Relaxer

This is a newly released drink for summer 2021.

The fruit flavor is supposed to be lychee, but it tastes like muscat grapes.

It has lychee jelly in it too, giving it a fun texture.

It has sweet and tangy taste of grape juice and is immediately refreshing.

The photo shows a lemon, but the actual drink was missing this.

The interior of Dessert 39 is very bright and airy feeling.

One thing that I like about this cafe is their plastic cups are very solid and nicely made.

After drinking, they can be washed and reused, which is also very good for the environment!

Paik’s Coffee

Paik's Coffee, a beverage chain run by Chef Baek Jong-won, is loved by many students for its inexpensive, yet high quality drinks.

Paik's is everywhere too, making it a convenient choice.

We ordered two of their new big size drinks, the Green Tea Paik's Ccino (Soft) and Pistachio Paik's Chino (Soft).

Green Tea Paik's Ccino (Soft)

The Green Tea Paik's Ccino looks very pretty with it's cool, green matcha color.

There are two types, Basic and Soft, the difference being the addition of soft serve ice cream to the Soft.

The ice cream was pretty sweet, so I recommend stirring it into the drink to balance the bitterness of the matcha.

4,000 won for a drink of this size is quite a bargain!

Pistachio Paik's Ccino (Soft)

This is the most recommended menu item at Paik's this summer.

At first glance, you might think it's a mint chocolate, but it's actually pistachio!

If you're a fan of sweet and nutty flavors, this one is right up your alley.

All Paik's locations are relatively small since most people get their drinks to go, but they do have a small space with some tables and chairs.

GOMANGO
고망고

GO MANGO, is so popular, you will see long lines on the weekends of people waiting.

This shop is cheap and has gigantic drinks.

They specialize in mango drinks and is currently the talk of the town.

These drinks are perfectly refreshing for summer.

We ordered a 1 Liter Mango and a Mango Strawberry size XL

This drink is really cheap and only sold as a take out item.

It really is a liter and only costs 3,900 won!

It's sweet and tangy and very refreshing!

It has four layers of mango smoothie, whipped cream, fresh mango, and mango ice cream.

Most desserts use frozen mango, but at GO MANGO, they actually use fresh mango!

This drink is an amazing deal and definitely worth the wait in line.

This super-sized strawberry mango smoothie was delicious and I personally preferred this to the 1L Mango.

Topped with fresh cream and fruit, it's revitalizing and a great way to cool down on a hot summer day.

MEGA COFFEE
메가커피

MEGA COFFEE is a cafe chain known for being popular with young people due to their bargain prices.

I ordered a couple of their newly released drinks for this summer.

One was the Sweet Summer Latte, and the other was the Unicorn Frappe.

Sweet Summer Latte

Highly recommended for sweet coffee lovers!

This is actually the only new coffee drink released for summer.

The bottom layer is blue and top is regular coffee colored, making the drink look like a beach.

The actual taste wasn't that different from a normal cafe latte, but it was rather sweet, so if you don't like sweet coffee drinks, I recommend ordering something different.

Unicorn Frappe

The Unicorn Frappe, a lovely looking drink that I couldn't wait to try, though it's almost s shame to ruin the pretty colors.

It looks so good, plus it's nice and big.

The taste was unique and it's a little difficult to even explain.

It was like cotton candy, strawberries, Baskin-Robbins ice cream cake, or something along those lines.

Overall, it was a delicious sweet treat that was cool and refreshing.

MEGA COFFEE has a lot fo take out customers, but there are also a few seats inside the store for those who want to sit and have a drink.

The Venti

 Finally, we have The Venti, whose very name gives you the impression they will have large drinks.

They have so many options, it's hard to choose.

After much deliberation, I decided on a Melon Soda and Unicorn Frappe.

I really like melon, so I was looking forward to trying this drink, but it was too sweet for me.

It seems to just be Sprite with melon syrup and a scoop of ice cream.

It has a nice visual, but wasn't my personal favorite.

It needs to be stirred well if you do order this, since the syrup is all on the bottom.

Unicorn Frappe

The Venti's Unicorn Frappe is slightly cheaper than MEGA COFFEE's, but also a bit smaller in size.

It doesn't seem Venti size to me, but the visual is very nice.

The pink color really stands out and the sprinkles on the whipped cream are fun.

The Unicorn Frappe was very sweet, like a milkshake.

If you have a strong sweet tooth, you might like this, but for me, it was too sweet.

The Venti's stores are also usually small and most people get drinks to go.

The store I went to actually didn't even have indoor seating, only take out.
