At the popular tourist spot Gamcheon Culture Village, there are many cafes with beautiful views of the city to check out.

Today we are going to introduce you to CAFE AVANT GARDE which boasts a colourful view of the village.

Review

CAFE AVANT GARDE is located to the left of the entrance to Gamcheon Culture Village.

Because it is on the second floor, the view here is gorgeous.

The day we went it was overcast, but even so it was still a sight to behold.

Our first impression was how spacious the cafe is.

They have both indoor and outdoor seating, so you can choose to enjoy the breezes outside or enjoy the cool air-conditioned space inside.

At the entrance to the cafe, there are lots of cute cartoon character decorations.

Some of the products are even for sale.

We especially loved the giant stuffed giraffe, which made us think of Lee Kwang Soo.

The indoor seating area has a simple, minimalist style that makes the already capacious space feel more open.

The tables and chairs are spaced out well so you can feel comfortable while chatting with your friends over drinks and dessert.

Speaking of which, they have quite a wide selection of drinks here.

In addition to coffee and tea, they also offer soda and cocktails.

The prices are also not too high which is not the norm for a place with such a killer view, but we aren't complaining!

For a treat, they have six different flavors of the famous French pastry, dacquoise!

After ordering, we walked around the cafe and came across a seat with a lovely view of the sea.

And on the other side, we could get an expansive view of Gamcheon Culture Village.

The brightly colored houses looked like something from a children's storybook.

This is the most popular spot in the cafe, with the best view of Gamcheon.

The outdoor seating area was cool and airy and, because there is a roof, you don't have to worry about getting sunburnt.

The minimalist theme carries over into the outdoor seating area furniture, which complements the space nicely, while not detracting from the views.

Sitting here and looking out at Gamcheon Culture Village made us feel like we were at a luxury resort.

Just look how picturesque this place is!

Definitely worth a visit at least once in your life.

After taking in the view, our orders arrived.

We got a Mocha Ice Blended (모카 프라페노), Green Tea Latte (녹차라떼), and two different dacquoise cakes (cheese and double choco flavors).

The Mocha Ice Blended is perfect for a hot day, though we do wish there had been some whipped cream on top.

The Iced Green Tea Latte is slightly sweet and not too strong, so even those who aren't big tea drinkers might like it.

Cheese Dacquoise
2,500 won

When we cut the cheese dacquoise in half, we could see the cheese layer was quite thick.

The flavor was very rich and cheesy.

It was a bit like eating cheese and crackers.

Double Choco Dacquoise
2,500 won

The Double Choco had an intense cocoa flavor, a bit too strong for my personal tastes, but if you're a fan of rich, dark chocolate flavor this might be right up your alley.

All-in-all, we definitely recommend you stop by CAFE AVANT GARDE when you visit Gamcheon Culture Village.

The views alone make it worth it!

Method 1

When taking the bus to Gamcheon Culture village, get off at the Gamcheon Elementary School - Gamcheon Culture Village (감천초등학교-감천문화마을) stop.

The cafe is just behind the bus stop.

Method 2

From the entrance of Gamcheon Culture Village, head left.

Walk for about 2 minutes and you will see the Gamcheon Elementary School - Gamcheon Culture Village (감천초등학교-감천문화마을) bus stop.

The cafe is just past the bus stop.

Walk up the stairs to the 2nd floor and you will see the cafe.
