Stroll Along The Beautiful Sihwa Alley In Mokpo
Our visit to the popular filming sites in Mokpo with breathtaking views. Sihwa Alley & Yeonhee's Supermarket
Today we'll be introducing another popular Mokpo tourist destination, Sihwa Alley (시화마을) which is a filming location for 1987: When the Day Comes and Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol.
At these places, you can enjoy the beautiful view of Mokpo while looking at various artworks in the village!
You'll soon understand why it's a popular tourist destination in Korea.
Older villages in Korea are very charming and fun to visit.
In Seoul, you can visit Bukchon Hanok Village or Iwha Mural Village. Those locations are very popular among locals as well.
At Mokpo, there's Sihwa Alley (시화마을) which was a filming location for many Korean dramas.
When walking from the bus stop, the first place you'll see is Yeonhee's Supermarket (연희네슈퍼). It was used as a filming location for the film 1987: When the Day Comes.
It's considered the most popular spot at this location. You must stop by to take some pictures!
Unfortunately, the store was temporarily closed due to Covid-19 restrictions.
If you like retro-style places or if you wonder what it was like to live in Korea during the '90s, you can check out the supermarket.
There are many older supermarkets and dabang (traditional tea/coffee house · 다방) from the past in this alley.
Just looking at the games inside the stores from the outside made us feel like we had traveled back in time.
If the stores are open when you visit, make sure to check out each store!
If you enjoy photography, you can take some really fun retro pictures here.
No matter what angle or corner you're in, the atmosphere is whimsical and will add a vintage vibe to your pictures even without a filter.
If you want to try traditional Korean coffee, you can check out the dabang (다방).
After taking enough pictures, we walked over to where Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol was filmed.
There are plenty of signs and directions all around the alley so you don't need to worry about getting lost.
After walking for a while, we saw another cafe where a lot of people stopped by to sit and relax.
More importantly, you can see a beautiful view of Mokpo from the cafe.
Feel free to take a quick break here to recharge your energy because there's more walking to do!
The village sticks to its retro concept very well. In front of the cafe, there is an advertisement board. There are posters stuck on the board just like the old days in Korea.
It was so much fun to check out all the various posters and advertisements!
After walking from the cafe, you'll see an intersection. You can choose to go in 3 different directions.
The first alley takes you to the cafes that Korean couples love to sit together and enjoy their time at.
And the other two alleys guide you towards a higher location where you can see a nice view of the village.
The third alley will take you to a filming location of Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol.
We chose to go through the third alley towards the filming location.
There are also houses that people actually reside in so there are signs that ask tourists to be courteous and keep the noise level down.
Since this village is located on a hill, walking can get tiring. But you can take your time!
Stop and pause to admire the beautiful artworks on its walls.
There are some bright, colorful drawings of children cheering you on.
After walking uphill for so long, my friend and I were exhausted. We ended up giving up and taking a different route.
If you like to exercise, you can definitely get there easily unlike us.
We walked back to the path and took the second route instead.
Compared to the third alley, it's much easier.
This route also had beautiful art on the walls for us to enjoy. After some walking, we finally reached our destination.
At the top, you can see the beautiful view of Mokpo.
This is also a filming location for the series, Long Live the King.
We then retraced our steps and walked towards the first alley. We might as well visit all three, right?
This route is popular among couples as there are many cafes located everywhere.
Again, you don't have to worry about getting lost here. There are many signs that are drawn on its walls to help guide you.
Whether you come with your partner, friends, or family, you'll definitely have fun.
The walking paths are beautiful and there are many photo zones.
You can find cute heart drawings all around the walls and the floors on this path.
Love is definitely in the air!
Just keep walking until you reach this beautiful place that's actually a popular cafe.
It's a cafe that's very cute and welcoming called 1987 Cafe Snow Flower (1987 Cafe 눈의꽃).
All the props and decorations placed outside are perfect photo zones that it's no surprise why it's popular among couples.
If you visit this cafe, don't forget to walk to the top.
You'll see a beautiful view of Mokpo!
There are cute teddy bears placed outside for you to take pictures as well.
This route is highly recommended and time will just fly by!
