Flower Shops In Hongdae That Are Popular Among Locals
Why not buy a bouquet of flowers to make your photos ops even better! Read about our recommendations for two popular shops with beautiful and affordable flowers.
Koreans can be very affectionate people. Even when walking down the street you can see many Koreans walking hand-in-hand or with linked arms.
Another way Koreans show appreciation towards one another is by gifting a bouquet of flowers. So there is definitely no shortage of flower shops in Seoul.
Today we would like to share some great flower shops located in the Hongdae area!
Harry's Flower Market
해리스플라워마켓
The first flower shop we would like to recommend is Harry's Flower Market.
Those familiar with the Hongdae/Yeonnam-dong area may have seen this flower shop before!
It is located near Exit 3 of Hongik University Station.
Locals love this flower shop because there is a wide assortment of flowers to choose from, and they are all very affordable!
Right as you enter Harry's Flower Market, you will see a large display of beautiful and colorful flowers! Each type of flower is in its own steel container.
The interior of this flower shop is very simple, so the beauty of the flowers really stands out!
Even while selecting flowers to buy, we couldn't help but take lots of pictures.
Each flower type has a label attached to the metal container with the price.
If you are not confident in your ability to create a beautiful bouquet, don't fret! Simply pick a couple of your favorites according to your budget and bring them to the florist. Then they will arrange them for you.
The store also has various leaves and smaller flowers you can use to supplement your bouquet.
It is common for many couples in Korea to buy a bouquet of flowers to use as a prop for spring photo ops.
There are three bouquet bundle styles available, as listed below.
Free: Clear plastic wrap, tied with twine.
Simple: Brown paper, tied with twine (1,000 won).
Special: Colored paper, tied with your choice of colored ribbon (3,000 won).
If you are indecisive like us and are overwhelmed by all the flower options, the store also sells pre-made bouquets starting at 6,000 won. Prices vary by size and arrangement style.
There were also small dried flower pins for 2,500 won. Each pin has a special meaning.
We don't know about you all, but we think it would be so much fun to gift these pins to a loved one.
More and more people in Korea are investing in indoor plants to brighten up their homes.
We loved their options for small potted cactus. Aren't the added figures so cute?
These can make great housewarming gifts!
Any Marvel/Guardians of the Galaxy fans out there? If so, don't you thinking taking care of these baby Groot cactus would be so fun?
We hope we've convinced you of the reasons why this flower shop is loved by locals!

Flo-Lounge
플로라운지 홍대점
The second shop in Hongdae we would like to recommend is Flo-Lounge.
Full disclosure, this flower shop is a bit further out from the immediate Hongdae area. It is actually closer to Sangsu Station.
But it is very popular amongst Koreans and is well-reviewed on Naver. Plus it's very easy to find because of the unique exterior!
The interior of this shop is very elegant and luxurious.
They keep their flowers in refrigerators with glass doors to keep the flowers fresh.
The prices of each type of flower are indicated on the tags next to the metal container.
There was less of a selection here compared to Harry's Flower Market.
There are also pre-made bouquets available for various budgets.
You can select a bouquet with one type of flower or a bouquet with an assortment of flowers.
They are all wrapped and some even have cute sayings like, "Let's be happy" (행복하자) or "Let's walk only flower paths together" (꽃길만 같이 걷다)!
For those who would rather not buy fresh flowers because they are hard to take care of, or wilt too fast, Flo-Lounge also has a wonderful assortment of preserved or fake flowers.
The prices of these arrangements are not too steep!
We have to admit, we now understand why many people love this shop. There is a wide selection of the types of bouquets you can buy.
We also loved that this shop sold dried flowers that actually look like they are still fresh.
Dried flowers are great because they last longer than fresh flowers.
Not only were there various types of dried flowers, but you can choose how you want them, such as a boutonnière, in a jar, or in a vase.
The cactus and potted plants are a bit expensive, but they are too cute to resist.
Our favorite is the mini cactus set in the wooden block. They are perfect for decorating your room by having them in a row on your desk or bedside table.
Similar to Harry's Flower Market, once you select some flowers, you can bring them to the florist to arrange them into a bouquet.
If you are a bit uncomfortable with your Korean, no worries! They were able to communicate in simple English about price and bouquet style.
To have your bouquet wrapped in clear plastic is free, but to have colored paper will cost an additional 1,000 won. A full bouquet will cost an additional 5,000 won.
You all didn't think we would visit these flower shops and leave empty-handed, did you?
We bought a bouquet of purple carnations for a total of 15,000 won. Since we don't see this color of carnation very often, we just had to buy them! Aren't they lovely?
