Our Visit
Today, we've visited 'The Days Hair' in Hongdae, a popular salon known for its trendy hair dyeing. It's conveniently located just a 5-minute walk from Hongdae Station Exit 9, and finding our assigned hair designer was easy as their nicknames are displayed on each floor.
The interior is decorated with a modern touch and the neat division of hair treatment zone, shampoo zone, and waiting area created a more comfortable space!
We also got a glimpse of their hair products which was primarily high-end L'Oréal!
After waiting a little bit in the waiting area and storing our belongings in the lockers, we were guided to our seats.
We had an English consultation with the hair designer, discussing our desired style and getting a face-flattering cut recommendation. Today's choice: coloring and balayage with highlights! It was also great that they informed us about the cost of the hair treatment before starting!
We proceeded with a basic cut that suits the face shape. They explained that the detailed cut would be done after the hair dye.
Following the haircut, we began the balayage process, dyeing the hair vertically on foil for strand-looking highlights through bleaching.
The stylist meticulously applied bleach to the selected strands for bleaching. It was a new experience having foil on the hair, but it's essential to prevent the bleach from affecting the rest of the hair. At The Days Hair, they minimize hair damage by using less oxidant, a chemical component in the bleaching process!
While waiting for the bleach to set, they kindly offered us a variety of beverages to choose from.
The hair designer checked to ensure the bleaching was progressing evenly, and now it's time to head for a shampoo.
At the shampoo zone, they rinsed out the bleach without shampoo, using warm water for a more pleasant experience.
It already looks like the color is turning out beautifully! The balayage highlighting process took about 20-30 minutes in total.
They used a steamer to open up the scalp cuticles. This step is essential for the recovery treatment applied next, as the steamer helps the treatment absorb better into the hair!
After the treatment was applied, we had another hair rinse. Now, we're all set for the main coloring process.
We had a color consultation on what specific hair color you want and what hair color can be achieved from your current hair condition. Our editor decided to go for a calm brown color that is not too bright overall.
We proceeded with the brown hair dye. Watching the color change as the dye was applied really built up our anticipation for the final result! After waiting for the set time, we moved on to shampooing.
After the brown dye and a blow-dry, the hair was surprisingly sleek. The subtle brown paired with just the right amount of highlights also looked effortlessly chic! The coloring took around 30-40 minutes in total and then we proceeded with the second cut in detail.
The dye and balayage is now complete! The designer kindly took some after photos. Isn't it just stunningly gorgeous? We absolutely loved it!
After the treatment, the designer advised us on how to care for our hair and recommended products suited for our hair type. They even suggested fun spots and great eateries around Hongdae!
